Very much enjoyed this video, now a subscriber. Never fished any salt water to date. Non specific fresh water fisherman but keen to learn. Great memories of shrimping and cockling 40+ yrs ago with my grandfather. Looking for a new form of excitement after 35 yrs on the rivers/lakes 😃
Eazy alex you ok pal, well done to you and the old man on ya session. Well done on hitting 6k subs on you tube. I was out saturday on the humber and managed 5 decent whiting and a dab. All the best from GRIMSBY.
I hate heights mate, but little things like that are making me better each time. I remember the first time I went over it my knees were shaking like a 💩in dog, now I don't think twice about it.
Good man alot of species there, its funny wen your out with your auld man the banter is class. Good luck for the 10000 subscriber's to get that boat get subscribing folk help him out 😂, be good if you get that boat a hope you've got the wife to sign a waver so she can't go back on her word 😂😂. Tight lines 👍
Another great video. Brilliant to see your Dad fishing he seems a great laugh. Think your videos help so many people. Keep up the sterling work. Regards to the family and your dad
Looking forward to it I need to get out myself haven’t been out since April/May just can’t find my mojo plus with the amount of weed on the holderness coast at the moment as well
Cracking ray mate 👍 well done 🎣 One thing i really miss is going salmon fishing with my old man, treasure the days you get out fishing with you old man mate 👍
Until about two and a half years ago all I did was fish for trout, salmon and grayling 🎣 I've now got a serious addiction to sea fishing 😁 I love bouncing around the rocks for cod , Pollock, wrasse and bass on lures 🎣 Looking forward to get out for winter cod on the bait 🎣
Hi Alex just found you channel , been many years since i have done any fishing 70 years ago actually , but i can still remember my first fish it was a pout whiting off Brighton pier and i was about 7, good luck and all the best .
Nice video and a very good session. Thanks for sharing your trip with us and father and son fishing together must be a huge plus. Looking forward to your next trip.
Cracking session for a change. You deserve that for the effort you are putting in. Maybe better from now on with the colder weather and water. Top video 👍
Look forward to your videos every time I open RU-vid! You are a great character and an inspiration! And definitely not an awful angler haha, keep it up!
Cracking vid as always Alex... You put some miles in kid il give you that.. Really look forward to seeing where you end up next.. I'm in Hull so it's the Humber and my all time favourite Brid down to Spurn.. Good to see you out with your Dad catching fish👍 brilliant stuff looking forward to the next one... Tight lines Mr 🎣
Great session, well worth the drive,I was telling my girlfriend about your deal with your wife and that you are from derby ,as soon as she kne2 this she subscribed and has never watched one video,ha ha,I forgot to. Say she is from Derby too
Great video as always Alex, love the craic with you and your Dad. Well done getting 6.000 plus subs btw, you certainly deserve10k .. for all your hard work you always put in. Stay safe.
Hiya Alex, another great video and nice to see you catching a few after the summer of blanks, also congratulations on reaching 6000 subscribers, shows that quality counts 🎣
Great session there Alex. Lovely to see the two of you out together again. Nice to see you making up for the blanks of about a month ago. Keep talking about the MH too, we all have our issues from time to time, I certainly do.
Like we were saying Andrew, that last hour to high water is definitely when it all kicks off. We went to Perch rock and I won't spoil next week's video, but we had a good do over there too.
Just found your channel and I'm slowly working my way through your videos they are Bloody brilliant I love your style and content, I've been off the sea angling scene for 20 odd years and I do suffer from mental health but getting back out on that beach really does help, my skills need updating but I will get there Keep the videos coming as an when you can. Cheers Mate
Good to have you along Jeff, and thanks for the kind words! I think it's the isolation of sea angling that does it for me. Admittedly this videos on a busy prom, but a beach miles from anyone is the best place to clear your mind if you ask me 👌🏽
Great to see you and your Dad out together and both catching. Couple of nice Rays and Doggies there. Very small whiting up that way. How was the First Rugby match of the season for you?
I either want big or small whiting. Small ones are great for bait (next weeks video 😉) but the big one taste good too. The ones in the middle are just a pain in the a$$ 🤣 It was good to back out on the pitch. Certainly felt it on the Sunday. Good win in the bag though against a tricky side.
This weekend, I've had to endure Everton getting robbed by poor reffing, England's Cricket team getting spanked, Tigers losing at home to Sale and then England Rugby losing out to the Saffa's. All ahead of a meeting tomorrow morning with both the MD & FD where they'll tell me we don't have any work coming up for the foreseeable. Deffo need to get the Rods out for a session.
@TheSuffolkshooter rough week then 🤣 our game this weekend got canned due to the rain and I got offered 4 tickets for the tigers game but it was a bit last minute to make it without driving direct. And on tigers day I rather get the train 😅🍻
@theawfulangler Terrible weekend for sport that's for sure. Not bothered going to Welford until after WC team are back. Can't believe we lost to Bedford the other week either, but much better performance this week against Sale.
Nice video once again Alex. Me and my son had a couple of goes at Rays in Cumbria without success earlier this summer. Would love to catch one. How long does the season tend to be in the Mersey?
Usually rays disappear around the time Cod starts to show up, so around now. Having said that, like Bass, last year saw rays caught through winter too. Always worth a trip down though mate. Pennel rigs and mix the baits between ray and cod baits and you will find out what's about 🎣
Got fed up of messing around with weed around the shockleader knot especially when hooking fish off the rocks at mostyn, swapped to slosh 30's and 30lb line straight through, problem mostly gone.
I agree mate. I snapped off the shockleader on both reels and just haven't retied any more on. Not best practice, but does the job. I am looking at a new line, though, so watch this space!
No licences are required to sea fish in the UK. Some areas of the mersey/docks require access, which is only granted to certain fishing clubs. Other than that, you can fish where you like.
God i fished the marina ended up climbing over all the boulders to get around the corner in the dark scarest time ever fishing 20ft boulders ended up in a scrap yard trying to escape the tide got chase by 4 rottwielers 😂😂😂😂 in 1f of mud never went bk
I do, just haven't for a while. To be honest I keep saying I'll take a ray but they're just so damn pretty. We kept plenty of whiting this trip for bait on the next session
I was thinking that the other day les. I haven't taken anything for a while. But yeah I do. Whiting is possibly my favourite fish to eat and I'm sure there will be plenty of those coming up 😅
@@theawfulangler Thanks for the reply. Im a carp angler, obviously i'd never dream of eating them. However, I love to eat the kind of fish you catch... Ive tried boat fishing, Not for me, I get violently sea sick!! haha. I really might give this a try, looks great fun.
It's good, thick, heavy duty, so should last a while. It has zero breathability though. My dad went for the breathable option, but he did say the wind goes through it.
