We share a lot of the same gear - from the pliers, to the ODM DNA 1-5, to the Saragosa 8K, to the MANY of the lures on the wall, to the D-ring, right down to the cut-off wader boots! 1. I also feel like the Saragosa 8k is smaller than most think. I think many just assume an 8k is huge, but this isn't. I would say, size- and spool capacity-wise they're about the same as any Penn 6500, or a Daiwa BG 500. Every company has different sizing anyway. 2. What size bucktail do you like to throw at the canal? I have a tough time deciding, but it's usually around a 2oz for me, but not sure that's enough? 3. One way that I've looked at leaders is, I would rather the leader break than my line. If my leader is too strong, then my braid becomes the weakest link, and now that will break instead of the leader, and I might lose more than I want to if I've already let out a lot of line. However, I do agree about the fraying of the mono (which I prefer over fluoro, as well) on the rocks, especially while jigging. But I've noticed that the 50lb hold up well down there also.
