Love how you bring your kid with you. Too many kids nowadays are so stuck on their tablets and the parents just go with it. Glad you got your son out there in the outdoors. He'll never forget the days his dad taught him how to fish. Great memories!
Came by thanks to Fisherman's Life and let me tell you that your content is entertaining. Awesome job on those Lingcod's. Look forward to seeing more of your videos. You got my subscription.
Congrats on that amazing Lingcod catch on Fisherman's Life channel! That bad boy was HUGE!!! I bet they tasted good!!! I wish you both had shown us how you cooked them up and ate them. But that's okey dokey pokey. The little one is adorable. Start em young! So sweet seeing little ones outside, away from electronics and just enjoying the outdoors like we used to as children.
Dude! AND you still landed it! good commentary from your son too: "everybody can see your underwear" LOL. Epic rod rescue and catch man, looks like a fun trip. Good stuff!
Oh man I've been camping at Pinecrest every year since I was a baby. It's an awesome place for families to camp. It's almost impossible to book a site now though because so many people camp there. I haven't been able to book a site the past few years because the place is booked pretty much the entire summer. I'm actually pretty jealous you managed to get a site. You must tell me your secret lol. I've been pulling fish out of that lake for the past 30 years and I had no idea there were bass in that lake. Great video dude. Got yourself a new sub.
Thank you so much! A portion of the campgrounds there are first come first serve. But, I think we also got luck because of the Yosemite fires up there, which probably caused a few folks to cancel their reservations.
Fisherman's Life brought me here! New sub to your channel! Lol at the "I got money! One dollar!" Comment from the little tike there. Ohhh boy do I remember being young and thinking having a dollar made me rich! Hahaha! The innocence is so sweet! That looked delicious by the way. You need more butter though! MORE BUTTER! Also, Mrs. Dash lemon pepper seasoning. Thank me later! Everglades Heat is amazing, too! But that's only in Fla, unless you order it online.
Best video yet Ryan! We LOVED IT!!! That was hysterical! WOW! You have a future utube star with you! Arius is so at ease. He's a natural! You two are a winning combo!
Right on man looks like you and your boy had a good time preciate the vids oh by the way keep a jig in your tackle box for when that kind of stuff happens you don't have to dive in the water just use your other Pole to jig it out anyways take care my friend
Kids and I love pinecrest lake. Just came back around the same time you probably made the video. We usually use the early bird deal and troll and do really well. Haven’t done as well from the bank. Would be interested to know the type of bait you were using? PB? Color? Leader length? Great job!
Due to the lack of snow melt running into the Stanislaus River, and thus into Pinecrest, the lake's water is way warmer than normal. So, all of the trout are out towards the middle of the lake, within the deepest and coldest pockets possible. We were using Caroline-rigs with the heaviest sinkers possible, as to cast out as far as possible. Leaders were on average 2-3 feet long and most of the fish were caught on garlic powerbait (the light green one with no glitter).
Came by from Fisherman's Life and... wow first video I see you're reeling in a fish underwater LMFAO fucking badass. Def just subbed especially since I'm getting into trout fishing myself :)
That's awesome bro! Best of luck out there! Cast out as far as you can. Because the water is so warm, most of the new trout seem to be huddling up in the middle of the lake, in deep pockets.
Awesome video! Going camping and fishing to Pinecrest in 2 weeks any spots close to campground? Also what weight do you recommend for Carolina powerbait setup? Any tips are appreciated :)
Thank you Johnny Allende! Typically, for Pinecrest, I'd use the smallest sinkers possible. However, this past July the water was so warm that I was putting on the heaviest sinkers possible, that my 4-6lb line could hold, as the key to catching anything was casting as far as possible (as close to the middle of the lake as possible). As the trout were chillin' in the deepest and coolest pockets. The lake might have cooled down a little since then, so this may not be 100% necessary atm. There are many great places to fish (on the right and left sides) after walking 10 minutes down the trails. Best of luck!
Very cool video. I will be up at Pinecrest too for a week starting this weekend. It looked like you were using a bobber setup. What bait? I also noticed the haze from the Ferguson fire. Was the air quality okay? Any insights would help. Thank you.
Thank you for watching opb726. The air quality was poor in the mornings but would typically clear up by noon. The bobbers were just used as indicators for the poles. Most of the fish were caught on a carolina-rig with a 2-ish foot leader. Garlic powerbait was the most successful bait, as the key to the bite was casting as far as possible (couldn't cast trout lures out far enough from the bank, to hook into trout). The water is super warm, due to the lack of snow-melt running into the Stanislaus River, so most of the trout are towards the middle of the lake, in the deepest and coldest pockets. Best of luck out there!
More important than the bait, was putting on heavy weights/sinkers and casting with the longest poles possible, to cast out as far as possible. They are towards the middle of the lake, in deep pockets, due to how warm the water is. 2ft long leaders on a carolina-rig with garlic powerbait was the most successful rig used on this trip.
