April 15 - It's the middle of April here in Michigan and it still feels like early spring. Despite the cool weather, fishing small creeks in Michigan can be productive. Very productive. And, as of late, crankbait fishing for trout has been one of my favorite ways to catch big Brown Trout. That, and spinners too.
This time of year, most of Michigan's trout streams are still closed due to Steelhead spawning, but this stream remains open and it is not uncommon to see Steelhead when chasing trout. When I do, I leave those on redds alone and target the ones in deep pools and runs. Fishing small creeks for Steelhead is a lot of fun. It's not a battle that I usually win, but it's fun none-the-less.
In the spring, you never know what you might tie into while fishing small creeks for trout. One thing is for sure though, Michigan Brown Trout fishing can be hot if you are able to find a secluded spot.
When spinner fishing for trout in Michigan, fishing small creeks for Trout, and finding big Brown Trout is always my main goal. Will I get it done today? Thank you for coming along to find out. .
Please like and subscribe. It is very much appreciated.

Good vid-shooting Head mount works for me - as w/o seein ur arms , hands , and reel - it's like it's me doin the fishing on that 'beautiful !! stream' ( I guess u edited out some "rapid head movements" - lol ) Making audiences feel like we're in the scene is essential . . With lower water , dusk/night fly-fishing there is easy - a bass bug w rubber legs works for big browns ( side pockets at dusk and anywhre else at night ) . . If casting allows positioning yourself / cam so framing the shot is on shaded water or otherwise where we can see down into the water, it's more exciting for us ; espec. when you describe a deep run , hole , undercut bank etc. Or tell about a follow by a large fish . Also if strategy allows , a big mepps or p-martin flashing away , is easier for us to actually see . . I saw the silvery flash of the steelhead that you circled Steelhead if nt' spooked , often gently pick-up lures off their beds but u have to be ready to set the hook, hard! . . Thank you again for taking me along , to another beautiful northern mich trout stream

Great video and nice brownie! What do you think about your Falcon Rod? I'm in the market for a new spinning rod and I think I want to go light power vs Ultralight. Ultralight set ups seem to be a little too much work for the fish, don't want them to die when the water is warm...

You're not wrong about being concerned during the warmer weather. With that being said, I still use an ultra-lite as I prefer to feel the fight. When temps get really warm during our Michigan summers however, I leave the trout alone altogether and go chase Smallmouth. As for the brand of rod, you can't go wrong with a Falcon in my opinion. Thank you for watching.
