Fishing the Panama Canal Gatun Lake for Peacock Bass

I'm fortunate I get to fish in a different part of the world. Booked a trip to chase some peacock bass and had a great time. It was a very hot day but we managed to find some fish. Learned a lot from this trip and I will be making a couple of more vids while I'm here. Hopefully one of those is an offshore trip.

Beautiful fish! Tough start to your day but you made the best of it seeing your buddies pull in biguns. I need to cross a peacock off my list too.

It was a bit tougher than I thought but did learn a lot on this trip. I'm glad everyone got some action, Matt crushed it. I figured since I'm here why not instead of driving to south Florida. I hope you check it off the list once day because they are beautiful and fun to catch.

I was stationed there from 1993-97, active duty USAF. We used to fish there every weekend. We would pull in 100 peacock bass per boat, in less than 4 hours. What did you go through to book? I’m heading down next week and would love to fish there. Thanks

That is awesome! I can tell you that the fishery has changed a lot since then. From what the guide said the numbers just aren’t the same as years past. You can reach the guy directly. The guy’s name is Gerardo. His phone number is +507 6948-2285. You can also find him on Instagram @gatunsportfishing and they operate out of Gamboa just north of Panama City. You can probably just search Gatun Sport Fishing Lodge and it should come up if you’re looking for the exact location. If you do go with them I hope you have a fantastic experience like we did!

@@oafishing Take a stroll thru Ft. Sherman, and see if you can get to the mouth of the Chagres River.. I can still smell triple canopy Jungle 30 years later.
