A short fishing session at the Walkway on the River Tyne. The fishing was a bit slow but we managed to catch a few species in daylight heading into the night with decent fishing conditions on an easy access fishing mark.
Thanks for that Gary, you had plenty species there and the pot adds some interest too. As a 62 yr old whos just come back Ive managed one session at seaham then were all locked down again,, my missus keeps asking why ive got worms squid and crab cart in with the frozen food ... bless her I said they will turn into nice cod fillets one day and she said thats ok then🤣😎👍
Thanks, yeah its a bit of a shame that we are going to be stuck in for a while but it will make it all the more enjoyable when we can get out again. Frozen bait always comes in handy let's hope there's still some cod about when we can get back out.
Same here, just come back to UK after ages away, freezer has some nice bait in and we get locked down. Looking forward to getting down to my nearest marks around Seaham as soon as we can. Thank god we have excellent videos like Gary’s to keep us going. Iv just rebuilt a tiny little kids rod for my youngest, which is spot on for dropping a line over the side like this. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
Class I’m going to start collect fishing gear and take it up. I’m glad I found your channel as I’m from jarrow and as you have showing in your videos that a lot of good size fish are about. Time for me to start gettting some local knowledge. Cheers mate for the new hobbie
Great video Gary I've never caught an eelpout so it's good to know where to target them. Unfortunately I live in Darlington so I guess I'll have to wait till lockdown is over. Looking forward to the next video. Happy new year and tight lines.
Great video Gary! Im from Northern Ireland and ill be starting to fish againn hopefully around spring i started fishing last year for the first time. What fish are in this time of year and through the year and i love the videos of mackeral fishing.
Thanks David. I'm not sure what will be around your local area but you could check you local fishing forums and that should give you an idea of whats getting caught local to you. I'm looking forward to mackerel fishing again this year they don't usually show up around here until June so its just a waiting game. Good luck with your fishing in the spring 👍
Just subbed to you as I'm going to start sea fishing again after a 20-year break. I live near Grimsby so I've got plenty of marks on the Humber and down the Lincolnshire coast to go at this year. I'm after some advice on what rod to get around the £40-£80 and a cheap but reliable reel (FS). I'm getting bored fishing the same mud puddles week in week out and sea fishing is that change i need.
Thanks, if you have a local tackle shop they would be better to advise you on what rod and reel would be best for your budget. I just use the same old rod and reels that I've had for years.
Hi new to sea fishing ...... they seems to be a load of quick connectors from mainline to rigs ? I use a snap swivel tied to mainline then clip trace etc to the snap swivel ..... is this ok ? Whats the gemini quick rigs etc or what can you suggest ? Also whats best for quickly change rigs ... thanks. You videos help a lot.
Hi, yeah its fine to use a snap swivel. I just use the rig clips because they fit through the tip eye on my rod better. The Gemini genie link clips make it slightly quicker to change rigs.
Fishing in the UK thanks for this Was confused as on several pages lots of people use certain rigs etc ....and these gemini rigs seem to be popular.... any how keep up the videos as these helpful .
Hi Alex, I'm not sure of anywhere around port Carlisle but just up the road from there is Silloth and Maryport where you can park where you fish. Ive seen a couple of reports of rays being caught from Silloth over the last couple of weeks along with flattys and dogfish.
Hello mate watched a few of your videos as I am trying to get back into fishing I live in Durham where would u recommend going, hebburn riverside park looks good ?
Hello mate, yeah Hebburn Riverside is good from the corner fishing into the middle of the river and if you follow the road just up from there is the second carpark and just past there is the grass bank all canny marks to try and close together.
You can park on river drive, next to South Shields sailing club, which is right next to here or the carpark next to the little haven hotel but its a bit further to walk from there.
@@fishingintheukgarywood Thank you very much, it gives me a couple of options to start with. I intend to fish the tidal water to learn my craft and maybe head to the piers and walkways as I get experience. I've fished the rivers for 55 years, so it's a case of transfering my knowledge to the saly water. Thank you. Alan.
@@fishingintheukgarywood you know you are allowed to fish as long as it’s local don’t you? We’re still busy selling bait and terminal kit to local anglers.
Yes I know I can go local but I usually find February to be the poorest month for fishing around here so thought might aswell get everything sorted for March. I'll be doing kayak fishing as well as shore fishing this year when I get all the bits together for that. Can people just turn up for bait from the shop or is it click/call and collect?
@@fishingintheukgarywood they can just turn up. We are fully open. We only have frozen unfortunately as it’s primarily a newsagents. Where are you thinking of going with the kayak. Someone had a sail fish a few years ago drifting for sea trout down past the leaze
You don't need a license to fish the tidal stretch of the tyne from the mouth of the tyne up to about the Scotswood Bridge for normal sea fishing but you do need a license if you plan on fishing for sea trout and salmon.
