More of the scenery, skies and spectacular fish in the Mackenzie Country, New Zealand. Music: Autumn Colours - written, performed and recorded by Diarmuid.
I'm sorry to say not last year, and I don't expect much for this year either. Our big rivers - and hence our wild salmon - are in trouble (algae; temperature; irrigation extraction; industrial/agricultural pollution). Wild Salmon need lots of clean, cool, fresh water and clean gravels for spawning success. Unfortunately they are up against a reported extra 2.6 million Dairy Cows and their irrigated thirst and their discarded excrement (reportedly 7 times that of a human, per cow!). Farmed salmon also appear to be detrimental to wild salmon DNA. Thankfully, there are still some Fish&Game-controlled waters where I am allowed to fish, and can catch fish, and can eat what I catch - hence these Canal videos. Tight lines. D.
Try Jake's Hardware in Twizel: he has all the right gear, and the knowledge, and gives free advice, and it puts some cash into the Twizel economy, and I have no financial interest in saying that, just gratitude.
That's a very unprofessional comment young Dylan. It is presumptuous, untrue and hypocritical. I invite you to withdraw it, and to watch your numerous videos where you keep big fish and support your mates keeping big fish.
Diarmuid NZ that is completely utter nonsense mate, I don’t take home fish. May take the odd one home for a family member but very rare. Unsure what videos you have been watching, was just a question. Why act so harsh towards it?
@@FishingForeverFilms Watch your Tekapo Pens vid - by the shop - keeping 2 big salmon, and just above confluence in Ohau when your mate caught a big 10-20lb trout and kept it and you say how that's fine as these trout grow that big in just a few years - or words to that effect. And Ohau C pens far side where you couldn't possibly put back that 12lb silver salmon: those vids. You have no idea how many fish I catch and what I do with them, and besides you should not lecture to other fishermen about what they should do with their catch. Your comment was worded as an accusation (a false one "why keep everything"') and a complaint (a sanctimonious and hypocritical one). I still invite to revise or withdraw your comments, to remove the false presumption, and the hypocritical ethics lecture. Have a look at the 'kyle shorty' comment below: that's how other viewers read your comment as well as I.
Diarmuid NZ salmon absolutely, take them as they’re are escaped fish. Trout aren’t? The trout are being harvested left right and centre by meat hunters and the fishery is heading in a bad way. Not trying to have a dig but if you want to keep a feed of trout go to a river mouth and get some sea runners, not these world class trout from the canals bud. But each to their own, that’s my opinion.
@@FishingForeverFilms You are still preaching Dylan. If the two trout-per-day bag limit was an issue Fish & Game would amend the regulations. What's the link to that vid of yours where you support your young mate's wish to kill and eat his big trout, and you explain to your viewers how that is perfectly OK, and how fast these big trout grow? I think it was egg-drifting between the Ohau salmon pens and the confluence. You must know the video I mean. I'm keen to listen to that again, to ensure I am not mis-quoting you.
