The vid went up like an hour ago. He just restarted producing regular content after having the kid. He’s going to be huge and y’all can say I watched him when…
@@justinborysenko3885dude I’ve been watching this dude like four years his subs doesn’t ever jump one of my favorite RU-vidrs not hating at all but doesn’t post enough
I've been watching for about 5 years now and you are still making some of the best fishing content out there. We respect you as a angler/content creator/ and a great husband/father. I wouldn't be surprised if you got contracted to create and produce some type of series on a big platform. Thank you
Good video Lawson. I,m old. Open heaet surgery, Can barely walk. Loved you video, Good to see you taking care of your self, Makes me want to push myself more. I'm still kayak fishing,
Lawson, for me personally, this was one of your most enjoyable videos ever. For years in Kentucky I was a seriously competitive tournament bass angler with boat, trailer, and all the accessories. Now I have moved to Florida and fish 100% on foot and I’m having a blast.
man, I had to sell my boat due to financial reasons, and I am STRUGGLING with fishing on foot here in FL. Who knew there were soooo many fisherman?!?!?!? so many spots ppl are literally shoulder to shoulder. Boy I cant wait to have a boat again haha this kinda sucks
@@slapt3245 Use your imagination and Bing or Google maps and you'll be surprised at what you'll find. I've found secluded honey holes that I fish and have never seen another human there as many times as I've fished them. Make finding the spots a fun part of the experience.
I picked a fly rod about 10 years ago, I used to fish offshore for big game, inshore with live baits and lures, butt the fly rod is an addiction. I take it everywhere! Like you, I walk miles and miles to get to lakes, ponds and beaches! its my way to connect with God's nature and leave everything behind for a few hours!!
Got that middle-class Husband & Dad look going. Ha. Enjoyed watching you grow up as much as you catching fish. Best Wishes from Texas. ...lots of great coastal and bay systems, great fishing.
Lawson; Captain Wayne here from Reward Fishing Fleet in Miami. I grew up in S Florida fishing on foot in canals and on sea walls back in the 60’s. This video brings back memories! So now in my 70’s I still do as much as possible both working out and disappearing either hunting pythons and snakes, or finding distant fishing locations. You jogging to the dam was impressive! For me, if there is a yellow gate, it is from SFWMD and says no motorized vehicles. So I ride my trail bike! FWC has checked me out and alls well! Save your knees, ride your bike!
Fly fishing really is all that. I started FF about 10yrs ago and haven't looked back. Only when I fish underneath low-lying bridges and tight quarters I break out the spinning gear. Such a great feeling of accomplishment when you tie a fly and it works!
100% agree about modern fly fishing. I do have some of those fancy rods and reels but it is absolutely not neccesary. I'm also a huge DIY trip person and just got back from Idaho fishing with my 11 and 16 year old nephews. We had an absolute blast casting dry flies with "mid grade" oufits. The trout didn't seem to care we didn't pay $1000 for a rod and $500 for a reel. When we put the right fly in front of them they ate it.
Copped a shirt Lawson! Love it when I see a video of yours come across the feed. The quality of your videos steadily gets better every time. Keep it up!
Just picked up my Lost Sun founders edition shirt! Thanks for the fantastic content, the informed insights, and the excellent production quality Lawson. Keep up the great work, and good luck in this new venture!
And I agree with you about the fly fishing. I find myself using my fly rods more than the rest of my rods. I don't have a 90k skiff, I don't pay guides 850 a day. I do it all myself from land and a kayak. I started flying fishing 1 year and 1 month ago. I've landed an uncounted amount of snook, 100s of speckled trout, redfish galore, jack crevales, and landed to hand 69 tarpon so far, and jumped or missed probably 125 to 150. I've had no instructor to teach me how to cast, no one to teach me how to tie flies. I've learned it all by RU-vid videos and doing. It changed the way I look at fishing for the better. I'm glad to see you getting back into it. I hope it reignites your love for fishing as it has mine. If you ever come over to the south west coast hit me up. I have an extra hobie kayak and will take you out tarpon and snook fly fishing at night in canals.
your video about fly fishing in the keys inspired me to test my hand when I come down in September. one day fly fishing everglades back country. the next day permit and bonefish. cant freaking wait
Man, I’ve watched your dog jump in the water after a fish. I’ve watched you almost sink your boat in a storm that day and now I’ve watched you hide from a storm while being beached on a sandbar. Gotta love good ol Fla.
Hey Lawson, my dad used to fly fish in saltwater a lot when he was younger and a good idea that he started implementing was tieing a rectangular bucket with holes in it around his waist. Then you strip your line into it and it holds your line so you don’t have to wind it onto the reel every time you want to move. It allows you to cast faster when you arrive at a spot and it allows you to cast further because the line isn’t being dragged through the water at your feet as you cast. Let me know if you ever try this out!
Your last Florida Keys video actually inspired me to get my first fly fishing set up. Went out and caught a bunch of small mouth bass out on the river and never had so much fun 🤘thanks for the videos and the inspiration to try new things.
Through the years your channel has just gotten better and better. My wife actually enjoyed this vid and she hates watching people catch fish (when I rarely put her on good reds or trout. Lol). And dude, where do those quads and claves come from?? 💪
I'm pretty sure I could tell what you were thinking while "chilling" out the storm. It ranged between wondering what you were thinking grounding your boat, hoping you don't get hit by lightning, and then some self-flagelation. That means beating yourself up for making a bad choice.😂
17:45, I have been through this situation 3 times. You feel like a fish in a barrel. When a strike hits close to you, everything turns white, it's terrifying.
I have a river full of trout 6 minutes walk from my house. It's why I moved here. I do enjoy plenty of other types of fishing, but casting upstream to a rising fish with a fly I have tried myself is as good as it gets.
Wassup LawDawg! Good to see ya posting again. Just got back from 4 days in Apalachicola. Caught 3 Tripletails 28 22 and 19”s. Gonna have a big fish fry with my and extended family tmrw on the 4th. Got over 20 lbs of fresh fillets. Then headed to Captiva on the 5th for a week…..tarpon permit trout reds etc… Gotta get as much fishing in as I can before my twins start back school! Keep up the great vids brotha!😎🤘🤘🐟🐟
Yet another thing to carry and you might feel like a mook wearing a *rigid* basket, but they’ll give you more distance and perhaps more importantly reduced time when you need to pick up and quickly re-cast to a moving fish at distance. Not too important for short distances but really helpful in the surf. Thanks for the vids 👊🏻
I too have felt like I was going to die from lightning haha. Nice job on the fitness bro. I've been riding that canal alot lately training hard and always thinking "dang I wish I could stop and fish this" lol
Could you start sharing what fly patterns you are using? I am trying to get more into saltwater fly fishing, and I live and fish in the same area as you so I’d love to see what your getting action on. Thank you
