Sheepshead fillets can be wrapped in cheese cloth and cooked just like a shrimp boil and will taste very much like crab . One of those you are what you eat deals. Once cooked and cooled in he shrimp boil it can be used for seafood cakes, or mostly any recipe that calls for crab meat. Very nice quality sheepshead in this session, nice job
if you want to stay clean just watch the videos don't make 'em.. Enjoyed the heck outta this one Elias.. it is 90 and humid here.. I was missing the misty cool of the ocean.. But you brought that right into my computer room for me..I owe you AGAIN... sure do miss my ocean.. even though I am only about 100 miles from it I am just getting to old to make the trip any more.. enjoy your youth my friend and thanks for sharing it.. carry on!
Thanks for turning me onto the knight ranger rod from jigging world... took my new setup out today in the Chesapeake bay caught 2 11lb monsters...rod sensitivity and strength phenomenal!
Down here in the Panhandle of Fla the go to bait for sheepies is sand fleas and small mangrove crabs or barnacles. All of those work great but I guess it's all relative to where u r and what natural bait is around but it's always fun to catch the "Chain Gang"😎👍👍
Awesome video as always was wondering Which do you like better for inshore the Stradic FL, Fuego LT or Spheros 3000. Trying to decide on my first saltwater reel
Hi there, been watching your videos over threshershark vids and you sure know the NC waters for fiah. In this video i noticed you found the sheepies on a ledge? How do you identify this on your fishfinder? I usually fish structure like docks etc. How did you find these in the river with no structure? Thanks brother
Elias we need some more catch and cook videos! I have now watched all you have. How about something with either Spanish or Kings? Really enjoy your channel.
great content. it feels you "tolerate" your PDL kayak but miss your Hobie? (maybe my imagination)... any thought to put trolling motor since you cover so much ground?
Great sheepshead fishing Elias! You make it look easy. You have probably discussed this before, but why do you always use swivels for your braid to leader connection, instead of knots? Thanks
I break off pretty often throughout the day. The swivel is about 10 times faster. Getting swept away in current and losing time with a manual vessel sucks.
What kind of PFD are you using? I am getting gear together to start kayak fishing and I am trying to decide on a PFD at the moment. Is it an older model Chinook?
Hello EliasV Fishing how you doing. I would like to say you have a great Channel. Your channel is fun to watch. You make them look easy. I have a question sir and was wondering if you can help? I have a paddle kayak and I'm looking for a pedal drive kayak. I'm a big dude am 6'2 358Ibs sz14 4 EEEE with fat wide toe. My footrest it is too small for my feet and my foot will not stay on them. Wondering do you know how wide your foot is what what size and is the pedals on a kayak wide. I notice how your foot stay on the pedal drive. I would love to upgrade to a pedal drive but i don't know if my foot would stayed on the paddle. I appreciate if you can give me your opinion sir. Thank you and keep up the good work.
i wish there were spots like this where i live...seems like the only place that you can really get on the sheephead is the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel but the conditions have to line up for a trip out there in a kayak
I have so many questions. I can’t catch a sheep on a bridge piling, and you’re (seemingly) catching them in the middle of a creek. 1) Are mud crabs way better than fiddlers for these? 2) what kind of ledge are you working on. You said 8ft, but how much deeper is it than the rest of the creek? 3) could you see the fish on your sounder? 4) can you do a whole sounder episode? 5) were you stopped or drifting?
Muds are my preferred bait since the little croakers seem to hold off. I was fishing an oyster ledge that runs down to 15 foot. The fish were EASY to mark on the sounder, bunched up pretty good, but moving often. I was working the peddles to remain stationary the whole time.
EliasVFishing Yeah that’s definitely my thing. I use my 1/2 oz a lot if there is any current at all. I don’t understand how fools can use 1/8 jigs and not have them just hanging in the current.
Can you explain a little on why you don’t like too eat the redfish I hear it either way some people love em and some people throw em back id like to hear your opinion on why not
EliasVFishing I see I guess it’s a matter of opinion here in south Texas I hear sheep’s are considered more trash and the reds are more desirable i personally like either one
Watching your videos let’s me know just how poor of a fisherman I am. I’ll probably see you around the inlet this summer. Sold the bay reef 210 and got a fs239, message me if you want to hook up for a trip sometime.
Havent heard that and I honestly don't think thats true, but its something I'll double check. I know you cant HARVEST oysters in certain areas, but I see people behind Masonboro and Bald Head all the time wading through the oyster beds.
@@brandon87ize they were poaching if they were fined cause of the stone crabs, can't keep but 1 claw not the whole crab!!! But I think as long as you are not destroying or keeping oysters you can catch bait on em....
@@jmnorris50 there's certain areas that are closed to shellfishing and normally wild oysters have a season but farmed oysters aren't regulated by season!!!
