Great job Steve! I took some friends on a charter a few years ago back when I was a captain in south Florida and a 16 year old kid caught a 102 pound AJ on a Penn jig master fishing for mangroves and he cried the rest of the day. I was proud of him. You just brought back some good memories. Thank you buddy!!

Catching Black Sea bass on a bucktail with some squid is one of my favorite methods of fishing! Gotta love them bottom dweller structure fish. They put up a fight

Great video when I bottom fish I like using squid as well a trigger fish will use that spine when getting under a coral or some sort of crevasse if you fish one and it does good luck getting it out. When I was younger and living near the coast I speared one and it hid under a large coral and I could not get it out, I surfaced for air about 8 times when a friend noticed and came over wearing an O2 tank and I remember him with his feet on the bottom pulling and pulling until it finally came out

Nice AJ !! I was on a drift boat where we were dropping jigs down to a wreck in about 230' . Hooked into one and had it about halfway up when the reel had a major internal failure. The mates spliced a new rig to the line and it was a 44lb fish. Those suckers can pull.

It’s wild how strong a 30 or 40 lb fish can be. You’d think a 200lb human wouldn’t have a problem in a tug o war match with a 30-40lb fish but it ain’t easy…lol

Me and my dad once caught a trigger on a rig we were drifting with ballyhoo for kingfish, it was huge. Triggers are a pain in the *** to clean but they are very good eating.

I was always told triggers have the trigger so they could get in structure and then raise their trigger fin to hold them in place in tight spaces. Your explanation makes a lot of sense though
