I fished the 7'6 a few more times after this video and I will not be selling after all. It is really that stiff as my initial impressions. Somehow this rod gives me just as much fun as the SUL. I suspect its the tubular tip. Let me know if any questions on how these rods fish. I tend to focus on the negatives instead of the positives but both rods are great; just for very different purposes
Hi there! Thanks for what you do! I have a question. Have you ever fished with 17 soare ci4+ 706ult? How would you compare 17 soare 706ult ci4+ with 21 soare xr 706ult? Which is better and why? Thank you!
i cannot talk about your specific models, but overall the new line of rods released in 2021 is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the 2017 rods. Blank has more carbon and more beautiful finish, the newly developed guides are better than the old, the new reel seat and rod but are also better than the old. I know the old rods were nice, but the new ones are better in everyhing.
How could you not like that 7’6”. It’s so versatile. From crappies to white bass. It can handle everything. I fish with St Croix Legend Extreme 7’0 and 7’6”. It’s tip heavy and it’s much heavier rod. It’s ok I am rough on my gears and it survived.
That makes perfect sense to me! For me sensitivity can sometimes trump bend in the rod. If I can feel every bump from a rock, every peck, and every head shake then it really doesn't matter to me if the rod isn't totally flexed. I still feel connected to the fish. I think the tubular tip helps with that, and also allows the rod to flex a bit further than the same blank might with a high elasticity solid tip absorbing the fight. I recently picked up a Palms Pinwheel 5'6" UL, and was worried when I first got it that it was simply too stiff. It very nearly is. I had to adjust my hookset for sure....but it still felt SO MUCH better to me than my solid tip rods.
@@innovativeatavist159 now ALL OF A SUDDEN everyone is hating on solid tip rods. This is the third comment in a month i read in that regard. All these years i never heard anyone tslk shit about solid tip rods..
You are 100% correct about the stiffer backbone on a UL rod for bass fishermen for 7'+ rods. It's so much fun catching little blue fish and saltwater perch at the ocean in the northeastern part of the USA. The 7' Shimano Soare XR UL and 7' Kistler UL rod have stiffer backbone with a soft tip. Love the balance and sensitivity on them. Great videos. Cheers and tight lines!
I think my favorite part of the video is at 11:53. I was actually looking at something else at the time, and then I heard that glorious drag which brought a smile to my face. And then a couple seconds later your giggle. 😄
Thanks for the great review! I'm a huge fan of old Shimano Soare Game series, especially 706 ULT rod (It may be around 2013 year of production). So I'm looking forward to watching your saltwater journey!
Thanks for the review on the Soare rod. The higher end Shimano spinning reel seats do feel dreary inhand! And I like how there in no exposed threads on the reel lock down nut.
and here I am, i use this rod for jiging 7.6 T in hungary , …. zander 1-5 kg , pike 1-3 kg , perch…and more another fish….everything came out :) a little more time, you have to play with them, but that's why we fish:) 7.6 rod its A PERFECT!👍🏽
Great review, I finally caught my first fish of 2022 yesterday, and had to drive 4 hrs one way to Nebraska to get it done 😂, so going to Florida from Tennessee would be some great footage.
@@ifishcatfish yes, the bank fishing in Colorado has been slow, for warm water species and I hate trout fishing. I’m probably going to have to upgrade to a kayak and get a pickup truck because I get a flat every time I take the merc off-road. In fact I had to rely on my employee to drive to Nebraska and he is the worst driver on Earth. Drunk, speeding, evading police, he did it all! 😂
@@dexterrobinson4065 no, my wife is the worst driver in the world. If someone evaded the police, he must be a good and confident driver and i would trust him. My wife is dangerous to everyone around her all the time
Did I hear that right? Victor finally going to do some saltwater fishing? That will be very interesting so I will be on a lookout for that content in the future
I just recently got out for my first fish of 2022 because our fishing season just started and I was quite successful! Love your vids man! I always learn a little from every video you post! Also I would like your opinion on my newest video because I tested my new GoPro hero 10 for the first time!!!
I use a shimano sensilite for saltwater ultralight. Pulled in the accidental huge striper or bluefish with no issues. It’s also stiff in the lower half but sensitive at the top.
My sensilite was not stiff at all. Maybe you got a different model. Honestly, the blanks of these rods are very well made, but i wish they put something else instead of those big ass alconite guides. I feel if i strip these guides off and put some high end guides that rod will feel like $200
I fish mostly ultralight salt, don't underestimate the power of a small soft bait on a jig head, sure there are UL hard lures too but these small soft baits will basically catch anything in the ocean. You might consider switching to braided line in the ocean for the added strength
Viktor in Bali i mainly fish saltwater ultralight fishing with ajing and mebaru rods like mj crostage 764UL the stiffness really help to control fish in coral reef. i mainly target baby GT and grouper with ajing jigheads and worms. you will find that saltwater fish fight hard and you will get joy from it cheers ✌️
I'm from West Central FL. I'd use that rod along the beach for pompano, whiting, etc. I've been using the 7' sensilite Shimano with Ultegra 2000 and have a blast targeting them...that rod would be a dream I rarely run into ultralight fisherman.
It absolutely would be. Believe it or not i plan on doing a trip to the ocean soon just to load up this rod properly. I did not say this in this video , but for some reason the 7'6, despite being stiffer, is just as much fun, if not more fun, than the SUL. Awesome feeling rod
Nice video as always ! I have just purchased the 7’6 and it feels amazing. Not sure what reel size to choose between 2000 and 2500 Shimano Twinpower . Which one you think will make a more balanced combo with the rod ? Many thanks ! Tight lines ! 🎣👍
everything is different, only names are similar to get people to think they have similar components. Blanks are different, guides are different, handle is kind of similar but also different.
The 7'6" Soare with solid tip is stiff too at lower half - the S and T models I'm guessing are identical 3/4 of the rod length. It really looks like a bass rod there. Saying that, I finally took my xtune out the other day to try it out and I was firing 1g jigs with no effort. I too had the Varivas orange ester on the reel and it was going through the guides very easy.
Shimano really found the perfect guide size. Smaller than that and u start to hear the line going through the guides. It will still go through but not the same.
@@ifishcatfishThe Varivas red eye ester goes well through the tiny eradicator guides, maybe because it's a size smaller then master. What really impressed is the avani finesses pe, 0.3 size. I have it spooled on the vanquish paired with Lunakia. This is one stupid expensive braid for sure, but in the short time I tried it, I had zero issues with line management.
I have a soare ci4 2610L-s which I think is the previous generation (shimano replaced ci4 series with XR and probably changed the taper to make it more versatile as far as I can tell). the 2610L-s I have is very stiff all the way up till the first 4 guides which is sold. I don't like it for Crappie fishing because of very little bend to the blank except the solid section unless I hooked a sizable fish. from your video Victor it seems this XR series bend deeper into the blank and better suited for pan fishes.
well, remember i am talking about two rods. The 6'0 is a Super Ultralight, and has very thin blank, and that rod will load with anything. Definitely no issues with that rod. But the 7'6 is UL and much stiffer and blank diameter in the base is double. That rod is a bit much for crappie also, but because it has a tubular tip, the fight with the fish is somehow just as fun for me. I don't understand that very well. That solid tip is so soft that it is absorbing everything when u fight the fish. The tubular tip transfers more energy down to the handle. At the end i will keep both rods, and use the 7'6 for bass fishing and saltwater fishing
I prefer mono for float fishing. I actually like the stretch once i start fighting the fish. For jigging i use these fancy polyester lines from Varivas. they are amazing. But if i didn't have them i would use fluorocarbon. I HATE braid. I still have it on some rods... but mostly for 'scholarly tests'
That 7'6" rod quietly haunts me with pellucid images of itself under the strain of a hefty shellcracker, and my resolve thins nearly as precipitously as my already emaciated wallet.... I am NOT a bass guy. No Sir. I am an everything guy. I agonize over what species of darter I just caught on a tanago hook and a Suntech Kurenai. I launch hefty chunks of cutbait in the surf and pray for sharks to find them. I find equal delight in the frantic head shakes of a trout and the subtle weight of a very light crappie bite. I somehow own nearly a dozen ultralight rods (it's a problem). But uhhh...you caught me...big smallmouth do give me a special kind of thrill. And I do like fast rods and hate wobble. Being stuck on the bank or in a kayak has created a lot of situations where (no matter what I'm fishing for) my slower rods were just much less viable choices. They have a place in my toolbox but they gather a lot of dust. (Btw these are basically writing prompts for me at this point so I apologize for the length and detail)
Man, u crazy : ) Out of TN too - who would have thought. U sound like a California hippy or something : ). I don't mind the drivel, and most of the poetic phrase is objectively accurate, but if u make it shorter, u improve the effect. Mark Twain once started a letter with this: I am writing you a long letter, because i don't have time for a short one.
What light or med light rod do you recommend for casting 1/8oz to 3/16 to 1/16. Im looking for your advice for casting for trout in a lake setting. Looking for distance. Still admire your hmx 7ft 6-12 med/light (light rod) video review!
if u need distance, i would go to some 8 and even 9 foot rods. I see people use those to cast spoons for salmon on lake michigan. However i don't have any experience with such rods. You have to avoid fast action though. Medium fast action will cast farther
When you talked about how the 7'6 would be a good for bass anglers, did you mean that it would be a better transition to ultralight fishing because it feels more like a bass rod or do you mean it would work well for ultralight bass fishing? Just curious because I've heard these rods were stiffer so I was wondering if it would be a good light drop shot rod for bass.
Good for bass anglers transitioning to ultralight fishing. I think they really resent wobble coming from first half of the rod and would not tolerate that. This is still not a bass rod. You will not horse any fish out of cover with this. Of course if you fish on some point without cover, so u can play the fish after you catch it, then yes, you can use it like that. That's exactly what I plan on using it for. But you would be fishing for the PLEASURE OF FISHING, enjoying the fight. Not horsing the fish out of cover and ski it on top of the water to win a tournament. This is still a delicate rod
@@ifishcatfish Thank you for the answer. I was planning to use it for fun. Thinking about using it for open water bass and even white bass up here in WI. I like my eradicator but I'm not a fan of hooking into 10lb sheepheads while whitebass fishing with it.
you must be new to my channel. This reel is in all of my videos. It's an old discontinued Daiwa Presso that has been completely wiped off the market, pretty much because of my videos.
Kage rods? I have fished with the Kage reel, which is just a tatula with different knob and one bearing under the spool that doesn't matter. I haven't fished the Kage rods
@@ifishcatfish yeah, the Kage ul rod. The only thing I don't like about them, micro guides. Other than that, I love the sensitivity. I was just curious
Victor I am surprised you would go daiwa on shimano,I know it's not a real high-end reel but the soare xr reel matches that rod perfect and it is pretty light reel, anyway nice rod
I just order the 2 piece, SUL Soare XR. Im gonna pair it with my Vanquish 1000ssspg. What line would u recommend sir ? Thanks ! Love ur detailed videos.
Im not sure what you are thing about.. drag has nothing to do with anything. I can snap the rod with 1 pound fish if u dont know what you are doing. If u know what you are doing - i caught many fish last year over 10 Pounds with even thinner and weaker rod. The bigger problem will be the knots. 6 lb Line will Make some fat knots that will break your guides over time.. i would use bo more than 0.15 mm line with this rod. I dont care what pounds it is
Добрый день, тоже живу в Америке, думал над покупкой soare 76 тубуляр. На каком сайте купили и как доставили к нам? Как палочка работает с форелью на spoons и Воблеры? Ну и самое главное как с резиной в толще выды? Спасибо
Works good will all lures that have the recommended weight range. It is amazing rod. However i don't tell people where to buy because if something happens, then it is my fault. Even if you just google, you will find it. It is not difficult to find
ima take a couple, just for kicks. I got a 16.5" white bass the other day and had to take it home so i can measure it, but we ate it right away and it was dang good
i dont have all models. I have only two. Both of them are super sharp. If you buy one of the models i discuss they will be sharp, otherwise i don't know. Probably still sharp, but sometimes there is a huge difference from model to model
if u fish for stocked trout, the Super Ultralight 6'0 is better. Lighter and more fun. If u fish Lake Michigan for larger lake trout, then yes, the 7'6 would be great. But the 7'6 is a bit too much for these 12" stockers.
it absolutely is a predator. Balsa lures will work, if you can run them on the bottom. These fish are always on the bottom, when i see them on the electronics.
for bluegill - the bluegill assassin (see my video on it). For crappie, i like a little longer hook, like the daiwa gekkabijin, or at least something of that size. I do actually change the jigheads depending on what im targeting.
Honestly, for crappie u can use the small 1/32 jig heads that cabelas sells. But not for bluegill. And you woud have to use those jig heads with berkley nympf or something... not trout magnet
there is a better grip, my $10 cinese pole :) I would not fish with anything else, love my $10 chinese pole especially the grip, I bought 9 of them. love them
