This song is so mysterious and intricate !! I really appreciate the poetry and the imagery but it's very hard to grasp exactly what she means sometimes. It's seems like past and present are twisted as well as geographic locations, everything's blending. I think the "black and white" lyric can be interpreted in many different ways : a reference to the past/a distant memory, a sad or dull moment/feeling, or a situation that wasn't nuanced at all like it was black or white, there was no in between, very dichotomous. Also I don't know how to interpret it but in her Doin' Time music video, Lana is seen in the opening shot lying in which seems to be the LA Riverbed and it's dried up and she's wearing a summer dress, literally sunbathing...
