the fact that this album bombed critically when it came out and is now considered a modern classic is proof of how ahead of the trends lana has always been.
I fully feel although this is very morbid in many years when Lana passes she will be remembered like Marilyn. Her work will forever be a classic timeless beauty. She’s fantastic and refreshing. I found her late 2012 and have been forever changed
hey sorry about all the other artist comparisons I’ve been reading a lot of comments about how Lana and her style actually came first, so that’s my bad y’all! Lana really is the OG of that beautiful painterly American story telling 👏🏼 thanks for letting me know!
@@Petahpaka and it pretty much shaped the music industry as we know it now because she was an inspiration for most of the huge artists we have currently
This album was for every girl who felt like they were a little weird and off/different from the rest but didn’t know how to describe it. Grandeur romanticism, melancholic love and living exclusively on the edge of life.

I honestly don't understand why people Say lana sounds like lorde and Billie or vice versa, the production choices They make vocally and Regarding the instruments are so different, I dare those people to show me an artist that uses string arrangements as much as lana does, I guess Billie is Moving in that direction with her song blue but lorde is just different from Lana
I wouldn’t say took mainly inspiration from Lana. She definitely has taken inspiration from Lana, but she also had her classic imagery in her albums that came out before born to die
i mean taylor swift singing about kissing in the rain way back in fearless (released in 2009) and thats the imagery hthaze talk about. so that made sense 🤷♂️
The way this album completely shaped so many women's lives is insane....I was a freshman in high school when this came out and there is no other body of work even close to this in impacting my life
Yeah the amount of artists you instinctually mention show the amount of DNAs Lana altered with this album. I will note that Florence with Ceremonials and Marina with Electra Heart make up the holy trinity for why Lorde, Billie, Chappell, Dua, Melanie and so many others came up the way they have. (And obviously LDR, Flo, and Marina stand on the shoulder of giants as well, and so on and so on)
lana mentioned that each of her albums is like her current view or relationship with america and i think that makes a lot of sense…like all of her albums just feel very american but in different ways
Born to Die came out when I was living halfway across the world in New Zealand. Bought the album and my husband and I listened to it constantly in our travels for the next year. It will always hold such good memories of driving a camper van around New Zealand and Australia, pre children and marriage.
cant believe you never listened to born to die, lana was the first to do a lot of what others do today. now you have to listen to the others albums of her
Lana del Rey is a religious name in my household, I introduced her to my mother and gave her access to my RU-vid and now Lana has become the constant soundtrack to our life.

I can’t believe troy had never listened to any of the songs on born to die like what do you meeean!!! But yeah, it’s mind blowing. I first listened to it when I was like in middle school and it has changed me forever since. He should do ultraviolence next, it’s my all time favorite!
The way I got chills and teared up so many times hearing this album again, UGH. This was the soundtrack of my summer when I was 18 and the nostalgia is palpable. Can’t wait for you to listen to Ultraviolence
He has finally listened to this god tier album🤩 I would also really like to see you react to Electra Heart, or at least add it to the wheel if you can, that and born to die are amazing 🤩
I swear watching these videos makes me feel like I’m listening to the songs for the time idk why! I got chills multiple times and teared up because..wow… these songs are seriously amazing.
The synchronicity is crazy because I was just watching the tunnel under ocean blvd video yesterday hoping praying yearning for more Lana reactions and here it is😻

this album was everything to me back in 2012!! also, if you liked her betty boop voice, you should listen to her unreleased tracks! (“kinda outta luck” and “you can be the boss” for exemple)
troy PLEASE we demmand, take a time to listen to her full discography, you need to see the growth and the path that made her get to the point in her life/carreer where she is in Did You Know, she has multiple personas and each one of them it's amazing.
It's really interesting to listen to some of the demos from this album! "This is What Makes Us Girls" used to have a faster BPM with heavier hip-hop percussion (in one of the demos at least, as several have leaked), and the demo for "National Anthem" is like a grungy alt-rock song. I do like the final versions too though.
I think I was 9 (almost 10) when I first heard Off to the Races because my dad was a fan since we’re from Scotland and her bf at the time was from Glasgow. My mum heard him listening to it one night through his headphones and she liked it so much she bought the song on iTunes. I heard her listening to it and that was me hooked. I heard a few more songs after that but it wasn’t till I got Apple Music at 14/15 that I could fully appreciate the album. It’s been 12 years since I fell in love with her music and I’m still very much in love with this particular album. She is incredible and I will always favour this album over many things❤
Whenever Lana releases a new album or song, there would always be like a song that i would really love BUT i would always always go back to Off To The Races. My favorite song of hers so far. I still remember the first time I heard the song, and I still feel the same.
This is wild bc this morning I finally decided to listen to Lana Del Ray after waiting for a while and I listened to Born To Die HOW TF DID I KNOW? I’m so happy I did lol
I remember listening to this album for the first time back in 2012 and instantly becoming obsessed after listening to video games and this is what makes us girls. Started listening to her older stuff from her undiscovered era. Been a fan ever since. Saw her live in Houston during the LA to the moon tour back in 2018. She’s amazing
bro over ten years later 😂 (in all seriousness I love your reactions so much this is one of my favorite RU-vid channels out there thanks for all the great content )
I love how she uses such ancient and cinematic references. Of course Lolita is the most known, but Carmen is inspired on an Oera and a french novel about a Spanish femme fatale who walked on Seville streets and caused the perdition of men in s.XIX
