Thats brilliant! Its always hard to attach/tie moss into tight areas in an already established tank.. this just makes it so much easier to squeeze in tight spots. 💪
You can also use glue to attach tip of the fishing line to wool so it's easier to wrap it around the fissidens and wool. I'm butterfingers so I always mess up while tying the ends otherwise. I think I learned this trick from one of Mike's (Aquapros) videos. Also, not exactly sure why fissidens is difficult to grow since it doesn't seem that demanding. It's just that it doesn't create very nice tight mats and grows daaaamn slow without a lot of light which again requires CO2. Under low light it tends to grow very messy but it's not necessarily bad look. Just not controlled. Maybe make a plant profile video about fissidens *nudge* *nudge* *cough*
Mine grows really bushy in lowlight non CO2 tank. It does grow quite slowly so just give it time and after a trim or two it will grow really thick. It's unexpectedly hardy too. I've killed mosses but not fissiden.
Great tip Jurijs,I’m setting up a 1200 x60x50 at the moment, plenty of redmoor, and I’ve got a big bag of fissedens to spread around so this will come in useful. All the best, Martin
I think a stream tank like that would look more natural with a kessil led because the shimmer would look more naturalistic, and u can use super glue for the moss
Do you think it's feasible to use the Fissidens sushi method in an existing running and stable tank, as a carpet? I love my tank, but my mix of sand and gravel its very messy right now and I would like to cover it with something more green but in an easy way such as placing something over the soil instead of planting.
I don't care about damaging moss with glue. Just use a lot more moss. Same thing goes for dissolving threads. Just use more. And start it without fish and an OD of firts and CO2. I do however admit that it is way cheaper this way. Which people who are not crazy would do 🤣. But I personally dont want fishing lines in my scape 😎
Whenever possible I would use the moss mud method with Fissidens. No glue, no fishing line, only little moss required, and great results. But it takes time..
Interessanter ansatz.
