Thanks a lot Jake! I'm trying to make it easy to understand what I'm doing without being boring haha. Feel free to ask questions if something isn't clear! I've learned a lot of this stuff the hard way so the more people I can help avoid those mistakes, the better! Thanks for watching man 👍
@@WebWheeler yea man for sure. I'm following along because I'm planning to swapy Dakota in the next few months. I was curious why you notched the frame.... then you explained why you notched the frame haha it was perfect
Damn Looks like a hella lotta work However I think you may be on to something 👍👍 Just Finished my double axle swap along with E lockers & long arm lift on my 05 Jeep TJ I didn’t have near the frame mods your gonna have😳
Still going! I'm getting ready to start editing again- tons of footage recorded 👍 I'm trying to get on a monthly release schedule so that the RU-vid algorithm helps me out a little more but to do that I had to focus on filming and getting the truck "done" to give myself more editing time haha. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching!
Where are you man? Taking a break? Just let us know you’re alive and well and just doing other things. I hope you revisit this project soon but first and foremost, I hope all is well!!!
All is good! My wife and I had a baby in June so that's cutting in to the project time haha. No breaks being taken though! Close to finishing the editing of the next build video, have a bunch more filming done for the build video after that, some more ideas for other videos, and i have some other cool stuff happening that I will talk about in the next shop talk video 😎 thanks man!
WebWheeler understandable bro! Happy to hear about the new addition to the fam! I’m in the middle of replacing my 4.7 with a reman as mine shit out a couple days ago (you can see my custom 2003 Durango on my channel). Also swapping my 93 Wrangler 2.5 for an LS and a ford super duty axel swap (what brought me to your channel a few months ago lol).
Yep it would have made it easier for sure. My goal for this truck was to fit 40's on the stock height suspension though so I had to do what I had to do haha. Thanks for watching!
If you're serious about it email me at Webwheeleroffroad at g mail dot com 👍 This build has been about 2 years but that's with a new baby and a full time job taking up just of my time haha
Wow awesome. Great work. What motor is it? I just bought the same truck about three months ago with the initial intention to turn it into an overloading vehicle, 4.7L 4x4 5spd. The suspension needs replacing all round along with tie rods and balljoints. Perhaps going this route is an alternative to that. Unfortunately without a garage or workshop it makes it more difficult lol I look forward to watching and learning from your journey. Keep up the great work. :)
You are very ambitious. Most would just lift it higher. To hell with center of gravity.. Your way will be better in most situations. Will you use bumps tops to limit uptravel? How is the project progressing?
Ambitious or maybe just masochistic lol. I'm using hydraulic bump stops (SPC Jounce Shocks) and they work awesome. I have about 2.5" of uptravel before I hit the bump stops, then another 1.5" of travel with the bumps. It rides great with that setup- I don't even feel the bump stops when I hit them because they get firmer as they compress so it just feels like hitting a stiffer spring rate. Project is going great! I'm actually driving it around and getting a feel for everything now before taking it apart to do all the final welding, painting. The videos are way behind on progress haha. Thanks for watching! Appreciate it 🍻
Can't wait to see the next videos. It seems like its been a while but maybe I'm behind on watching. Not criticizing ,love the build. Not just another Jeep.
@@brianhaw9398 Thanks man! It has been a while haha. My wife and I had our first baby 6 months in to the project so progress got REAL slow for a bit haha. Videos are even further behind but they're still coming! Editing more right now in fact. Thanks again for the support!
This Dakota only has rear ABS so I just left the super duty sensor in to plug the hole. The rear actually swapped over with the Dakota rear sensor in the super duty housing
Love these videos! I want to do the same thing to my dakota but seriously have no idea what i'm doing. These videos help a lot and i can't wait to see the truck all finished!
Thanks man! Glad they're helping you out. I'm obviously going a little crazy with this build haha but hopefully it shows that projects like this are not as intimidating as they seem. I can't wait to see it finished either! ;)
They're factory super duty steel wheels. If I remember right, they're 17"x7" with 6" of backspacing. They're too narrow to run on these tires regularly but they work for mockup 👍
I like it... not looking forward to all that cutting on mine.... also since I have a trussed 44 out of a 78 bronco I think more issues may be had... but who knows lets see how that suspension goes... also I definitely will have to clearance the front more cause I'm moving the axle forward noticed at full compression I had my 40 touching in the rear on full lock... but mine is on hold cause now Im waiting for my new nv4500 to replace the nv3500 I exploded... then I have to mount the tripple sticks and rebuild the 205 and steal the planetary gear set from the factory transfer for my NWF black box. So transmission then back to axels but keep up the amazing work. Hope to see ya on the trails! Cant wait to see your suspension!
Yeah the truss might be in the way a little- I'm trying to keep this truck pretty low so I don't think I will be able to fit a truss. Sounds like you have a cool build going though! I'm @WebWheeler on Instagram if you have one- would love to see some pics!
Haha here in CA they only lock you up forever if you do something really dangerous like mess with the emissions system ;) But modify the stuff could fail catastrophically all you want! 👍
Well that's completely unique, why are you trying to be different from everyone else just be a robot and follow the herd. Really cool how you're making your own path
Thanks so much man! This build and this channel as a whole is my attempt to do exactly what you said- break the cycle of the way so many RU-vid channels and tv shows do things these days. Seems like everyone is just looking to get free parts from whoever they can and then push those parts to the viewer whether or not they're honest about it in the process. I'm hoping to show that you can build crazy cool stuff with junkyard parts, scrap metal, and some basic skills and knowledge rather than throwing fancy parts at everything 👍 whether it goes anywhere or not, at least we'll have fun in the process 😎
@@WebWheeler that's what I like about it, now I want to take up fabricating and welding so I can do something completely different than everyone else. Thanks for these videos
Awesome! Thank you for the support and you should definitely should start learning! 😎 I plan on putting out some videos after this project specifically about fabrication and welding on this type of thing so hopefully you'll find those helpful. The more people building cool stuff, the better!
Technically I'm still doing it lol. If I was working on it full time I could have the whole thing done in a few weeks but with a baby and a full time job, things move slow haha
