Today I head to Regal Autosport to get an Akrapovic Exhaust fitted to my Golf R!! I also decided to re-delete the exhaust, so it's even louder!

Glad you finally got the Akrapovich exhaust, amazing! Yours sounds a bit more high pitched than mine does with your resonator delete. I prefer it without the delete. Also consider turning down the sound actuator as that reduces the in cabin vibrations.

Akrapovic is a Slovenian manufacturer of exhaust systems he started 1990 for the motorcycle and expanded into automobile exhausts in 2010.

That 'Anti-Drone- resonator does exactly that. That piece of tubing that protrudes from the exhaust, which looks like it has no place being there, is actually a Helmholtz Resonator. Very helpful in eliminating most of the drone, no matter your exhaust setup

For me the first mod was OE resonator delete...more loder..than hjs200cel downpipe..even louder...than i went for remus resonated catback and now everything is perfect...without resonator...backseat was nightmare..and drone at 180km/h

I got a custom cat back for my golf r what I bought in September. VW said to me that the part you replace e.g the exhaust will be no longer in warranty but the rest of the car is.

I had this fitted as well but with the down pipe. £3k but what a difference. Engine is Mapped to 387 so the exhaust made a big difference 👍

Sounds immense 😍 I have a GTI TCR on order, due October, and it comes with the Akrapovic titanium exhaust 👌🏻 Admittely it's two pipes, not four like you get on the R but it should still sound lovely 😁

Love the sound, great extension to such a nice car. However I’m not hating but would like to add to your warranty point. Again correct me if I’m wrong but when chosen as spec from VW they install the entire exhaust from turbo back. So as far as I’m aware by cutting mid way and putting the backbox on is in theory a mod and not what VW would class as from factory. I would double check this mate. Just to be on the safe side.

Get the Golf GTI TCR diffuser but keeping the Akra. It looks insanely aggressive

Marcelo Twelve can’t get that diffuser as his quad tips won’t fit, GTI diffuser fits singular pipes either side

So where did you get it from? Wondering if they do these for the 7.5 Golf R Estate as my exhaust tips are horrible after 2 years and can't hear much of the pops on the standard exhaust (no res del), also massively want to keep the warranty as you mentioned!

It would only void your warranty on the exhaust components anyways no matter what system you put on. Say dsg is faulty cant say it's the exhaust 🙄

Hi, I’m based in Australia and the akra exhaust came with the SE version of the golf r 7.5, I installed a CTS turbo res delete but removed it 1 week later due to drone being too unbearable, I would really like to know if the anti drone pipe really works (specifically in Sport mode and auto as I use to get really unbearable drone around 2500-3000rpm range) and if so where can I buy one? Also do you have the exhaust valves permanently opened (ie disconnected/coded open wirh OBD11)? Thanks

He Michael,the first thing i did to my Golf R 2015, is lower my output from my sound dacter from 100% to 10% so you dont have that vibration against your front glass screen.i bout a VAG-resenator delete butt a im not gonna install it.Enjoy your R

I honestly believe these sound pathetic and absurd. The cracks and pops sound like balloons. Doesn't sound satisfying at all to me and honestly just really annoying. But hey, if annoying everyone around you everyday while you drive is what you enjoy, congratulations to you! Cheers

No I don’t like it. This era of popping and crackling exhausts doesn’t do it for me. Especially when people lift off halfway Through changing gears. Bell ends. Google rs turbo sounds and you will see the difference.

That steering clamp will take 5 seconds to take off just snip the steering wheel as the frame of the wheel is only a few millimetres thick your best having a disklok

DSG Farts never get old. I got a cat-back Cobra system on a Polo GTI DSG and they went from funny to hilarious and so addicting. I think I said the same "I'm so going to get arrested for this" when I got it done too... cars lovely though mate!

if your golf didn't ship to you with that exhaust so it will still technically void your warranty but luckily its only an exhaust so it will only void your exhaust warranty. they will check your reg and see yours never had one from factory also your insurance see the same spec sheet so if your exhaust got damaged, if it wasn't declared to insurance prior a claim, they would either void it or replace with a standard system
