The arch gap you’ve got now is spot on, I don’t get why people like the tyre to literally be tucked under the arch and how some people can live with the tyre rubbing just for the sake of it looking a certain way

Being a GTI owner, you didn't even need to buy an entire air intake system. Upgrade the piping from the stock box, upgrade turbo inlet pipe, cut out the plates blocking off airflow through the front grille, install backing plate to the left side of the front grille induction piece, remove snow guard, and install a high airflow filter.

Love the get to the "bloody" point approach, high energy and time lapse installs....magic! Cheers from across the "pond".

For anyone wanting to do the intercooler , you don't need to remove the rad pack or the headlights. The bed doesn't need to be undone either, mark the prop shaft before removing it so it goes back on in the original position, then tie it up to the passenger side ( it is a squeeze but possible to still remove the DP) If you live in the NE of England I can help with these hardware installations. Matt - could you get the guys at Mallory to dyno the golf before the Stage 2 remap. I'd like to know what HP / Torque gains you have seen with just the addition of the airbox and the down-pipe. I assume there will be minimal gains based on previous induction work, but you never know. Then do the Stage 2 remap.

Really enjoyed the voice over the fitting process. It often gets glossed over but I think it really adds to the video

Hi Mat, I work in the development of driving dynamics in Munich (I think you guess which company this could be :) ) and everytime you change springs, damper or install custom rims it is a horror for me to watch. We put so much development into it to make it fit for all damping situations (from fully compressed to fully decompressed). It is not as easy as all those custom upgrade dudes think it is ;). That your tires are scrubbing in the wheelhouse is only one issue. It could also be that cables or your brake hose could get damaged. Just for your information - keep a look onto all of your cars now and again. Anyway - nice job and very interesting what you are doing :). Keep it up (and pls take white or yellow for your Mucrielago :D )

Good Luck with pushing 500hp in R. I have mine at ca. 530-550 but entire motor is changed with turbo. For that price i could buy one more R. But it is worth it!!

did you fit the original plastic oil sump? did the metal sump still leak after you re sealed it? did not hear you mention it in the previous video's .

Make sure to replace all your stretch bolts in the subframe and get an alignment. Lowering the subframe will put everything out of whack!

I was told when placing wheels back never screw the nobs all the way when the car isn't on the floor, ones you lower the car to the floor that's when you can tighten them

Theres a fender screw mod you can do take the top screw out and tuck the inner plastic under the lip of the fender

I used to buy salvage back in the late 90’s up to early 2000’s and usually done alright, then gave it up due to work commitments, fast forward to 2008 i bought another Honda Civic type r and just broke even, i noticed salvage was getting more and more expensive as companies started taking the piss.

Looks like we have some ideas for our Golf R now. Going to have to see if we can get ours this fast.

i've got a MK1 golf, the R line is my dream car, However my mk1 is stupid fast, i did a highway pass against my mate in his R32 Golf and he got mad cause i made him look slow in front of the AMG's and Audis, it's just a 1.8 with a twist, everyone reckons a 2L 8 valve is the shit, the real magic is in the 1.8 16V but thats my preference

It’s Tuesday, I get the notification whilst at work that a new video has dropped. I think the issue to go faster with this car is the clutch engagement, the transmission allows some slip at launch, I think you need a more aggressive lock up

That's a pretty quick car already after a stage one.... Should be fun getting it up to stage two. I reckon just shy of 400, let's say 380.
