You’re an absolute legend. EXACTLY the type of review I was after. Very informative and not boring in the slightest. Thank you. I was fairly set on getting this setup but having now watched your video I’ve reached out to my mechanic to get this booked in. Can’t wait :)
I don’t know whether I am grateful or not, since I’m now poor, but this video has just persuaded me to order a Milltek for my M2C! Great video, thanks! 😆
I also have been looking for more milltek exhaust videos for the M2C. I really appreciate the detail in your video with the multiple drivebys, the comparisons of modes, and the decibel unit output overlay. Really helps me get an idea of what to look at. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you so much for this Vid. I’ve been looking everywhere for aftermarket exhaust videos and reviews but I couldn’t find detail videos. Please keep uploading as you mod this amazing car !! 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome car, awesome sound! I went with the remus race axleback system with the midpipe. Sounds awesome! Like the S55 should sound like. Keep up the good work!
Thanks to this video we also bought the Miltek EQ. We also deleted our OPF's. Thanks makes the sound as loud (or maybe louder) than a OG M2 Catless. If you want to delete the OPF's you can use bypass connectors and don't have to tune the ECU, wich is also impossible if you have a end 2020 Competition.
A Huge Hello from Sydney Australia. I am a HUGE fan buddy. I also own a BMW M2C with the stock exhaust currently. However, looking to upgrade in future. I Love your videos. keep up the great work. Your videos are Awesome. God bless buddy. :)
Milltek in Sport+ sounds really good. Nice upgrade. Also it is good that in Efficient mode it is not noisy so while long journeys it will not be painful. 👍
Good video dude and not many videos out there showing you the before & after with Db readings. It's clearly louder... but is it 2.5 grand louder?? That's the issue I'm still trying to come to terms with. However, it's definitely a difference! I'm still deciding and looking at all options 😂
It sounds to me like you're trying to convince yourself it's not worth it :D I get that exhaust are expensive, but I think this one is worth every single penny. I really do. The engineering that goes into making them is worth what I ended up paying for it. For me this exhaust fixes the ugly saggy balls, it's loud so I can finally hear it on the inside and at the top end I can also hear some of that Equal Length goodness. At the end of the day, it all comes down to budget. I'm lucky to have this RU-vid channel and I'm able to use all my earnings to buy these upgrades.
Thanks for putting this together. I have a Milltek on my FI S2000. Fit and finish looks good from the back. Sounds amazing; however I think the AA EL mid pipe and the Remus Sports exhaust sounds better. With this the valve system works as factory. Not sure if the Milltek retains that as well.
Thanks for the review! The exhaust note is so much refined! Could you make a video from the cabin to get what it sounds like inside in the different engine modes? with/without ASD?
I will probably do another clip with the exhaust. But I already have ASD turned off and I don't want to turn it on again. Like I've said in the video, turn the ASD off to hear the exhaust, otherwise you will mostly hear the fake sound
On the pistonheads forum “m2 competition thread” people mention they don’t have the vibration you mention at low RPM. Maybe worth checking out with your exhaust fitter that it’s fitted correctly at the front ..
@@TunedIntoCars how does it compare to the N55? I’m in the UK so could potentially go for an active autoworke equal length Have you ever heard an AA in real life?
This is a brilliant review. I also have a black M2C and looking to install an exhaust later this year. It's currently between Remus or Milltek as the Akrapovic is very expensive! 🤔 😄
What you said at 0:50 - I gave you a like purely because of this. lol And even when they do make a 20 minute monetization video with install and shaky vlog footage, they skip all the critical steps anyways and only give you one 5 second rev with no review.
I've installed this system with opf delete and milltek sport cats + downpipes, and it is way too loud and raspy. Waiting for a milltek resonator now, hopefully it will remove this crazy rasp at 3-4k rpm.
Comprehensive video-thank you! Specifically in Sport and Sport + modes, does this exhaust drone under slight loads at highway cruising speeds? I find messing with the midpipe creates drone sometimes at speeds (60-80mph) depending on engine load and which gear you're in. I know it'll be quiet in Efficient.
I have not tried cruising in Sport and Sport+ so I can't tell you anything. But it shouldn't be a problem when you're just cruising around. The valves only open when you floor it, even in Sport+
Another Great video Paul, I own a 2020 M2C and also really hate the original back box or "cow udder", what about the warranty is there any problem by changing the exhaust? Greetings
You only loose warranty on what parts you change. So in my case I've lost the stock exhaust warranty, but I've gained milltek warranty for their aftermarket system.
Leo, just check with other owners in your country. Any mods are always a good excuse for the manufacturer to find excuses not to give warranty coverage.
Hey! Thank you for the comprehensive review! Did I unterstand it correctly that the GPF/OPF is still in place so that you didn't have to tweak the ECU? That would be the perfect solution for EU spec cars...with GPF/OPF still in place it's as legal as you gonna get while still having great sound.
@@TunedIntoCars Thanks a lot! I didn't refresh my browser and didn't see your first response. Anyway...a slightly illegal exhaust with OPF/GPF, without resonator and without an ECU tweak just feels so much better than an OPF/GPF delete with ECU tweak, which also voids the warranty. For me it's a perfect solution. (I have an M240i with OPF/GPF and didnt want to remove the filter either. I'll change it some time soon for an M2C and am still looking for a good exhaust solution, so thanks again.)
Did you try it without the pops and bangs?? I’m not a fat and I’m looking into an exhaust solution like this with EL midpipes but in thinking about removing the pops and bangs.
Thinking of changing the exhaust but don’t want it to be offensively loud. You did say this was insane with the windows down but I want it to retain some class and not be a “boy racer”. What do you think?
Aftermarket exhaust and 'class' don't really go into the same sentence. These systems are designed to be louder. It's the main reason people buy them. But, like I've said in the video, it's only crazy loud in Sport+ mode and when going above 4000rpm in the other driving modes. It all depends, but based on your comment, I definitely don't think you should go with an exhaust system like this one, that removes the mid-silencer. You might be better off with one that only replaces the back-box of the car.
It's not really relevant for anyone if I share my costs. Quite different to what the offers are on this exhaust at the moment. Much easier for you to reach out to your local dealer. But the exhaust is not EC approved
@@TunedIntoCars I don't understand. If it isn't approved, is your car therefore not road legal? If so, then your insurance won't pay out in the unfortunate event of an accident?
@@behindyoujoey7761 Who said it's not legal? I said it's not EC approved. Meaning it doesn't meet emission standards. But it is totally legal. I bought it with a receipt and everything :)
@@TunedIntoCars Great thanks for clearing that up. I think an indication of what you paid approximately for the work would be helpful. I'm living near Luxembourg so would imagine the Swedish prices would be very similar.
As the name clearly suggests and as I've also explained in the video :) my system is an Equal length one. Meaning both pipes are the same length. The other differences, if there are any, I don't know them
Great video, but as usual... should have said the exhaust change is to "make the *European* S55 sound less than the *European* S55". Overseas S55 installations on M2 without OPF sound significantly better and also better than F80 too. No argument over the stock saggy balls 😂
I've heard one without OPFs in Sweden and it sounded like my car but 10x louder. I didn't notice any change in the tone. I know a lot of people say it sounds better, but to me it's the same tone but noticeable louder
Thanks for your videos about the M2c as I'm looking to buy one myself and those are truly a help. The question I'm wondering is why you chose for the Milltek equal length instead of the Active Autowerke equal length?
You have to tune the engine when you remove the OPF filters. And my car is still under warranty and I didn't want to do that. There are other solutions that can fool the ECU to think the OPFs are still installed, but none of the manufacturers could guarantee that their product would work without flaws
Guys, watch the video, please. All the info you need is in there. That's why the video is long. Plus there's timestamps in the description so you can skip to what interests you
@@TunedIntoCars Not really, it’s just because it’s too loud (db) that’s it’s not EC approval. You have 2 others Miltek exhaust with centre resonator, one is EC approved and the second one is not EC approved . And if you look at Remus, they have the race back box (with oem centre resonator) which is not EC approval, and Lightweight they have a cat-back exhaust (without centre resonatorlike the EL Miltek) which is EC approval …not so easy !
@@ericclx8770 From what I know, I've spoked to my local Milltek dealer, the reason why it's louder is just that. It doesn't have the center damper. All milltek solutions for the M2c are GPF back, yes, but the race one and EL don't have dampers, but the EC approved one has one (not the stock one, but one from milltek). I know the pictures on the milltek website suggest otherwise, but I've spoked to people who actually install these exhausts and that's what I learned.
I've have also the EL since 3 weeks, I find that on the motorway at 140/150 km/h its too loud if you have to ride mode than 1 hour even with valves closed
As I've explained in another comment, fitting a midpipe means I have to flash the ECU of the car and therefore loosing the warranty on my engine. It's not something I want to do right now
@@TunedIntoCars not sure where you got that from I know a person that just had it installed and didn't need to tune it not sure if its an Australian thing and what not....
@@1xx1NINJAxx1 in Europe we have the so called GPF filters. Gas particle filters. And those have sensors on them, which 'alert' the ECU when taken off the car. So you have to tune the ECU to 'fool' it into thinking they are still there. My car is still under warranty and I'd like to keep it that way. In two years when it expires, I'll see what I'm going to do
