Fitting a seldom-used power inverter, so I don't have to drink instant coffee off-grid. If you intend to rely more heavily on an inverter, then you'd need a larger battery bank and the inverter being tucked out of the way probably isn't for you, but the installation principles are the same.

Hi Lorenz! I fitted a 2200W inverter in my MB Sprinter. Similar configuration as you have with a leisure battery. I used an original MB start battery, AGM type,220Ah, 1150A. Will this battery do the job? What kind of battery do you use? I didn't change the alternator yet, its still the original one of a normal Sprinter van, not like in a camper van?! Regards, Edwin

Hi Lorenz. I’m a newbie to motorhoming ! Quick Q about how you came to the size of cable you decided on using? I’m about to fit my 2500w inverter and there is so much information out there that I’ve lost the plot! I’m gonna need the cables in 2mt length , will I go with what your using or do I need an other size? Many thanks for your videos, they are great x

Hi, thanks for your kind words. Generally for inverters between 2000 and 3500w you will need good quality 1/0 AWG battery or welding cable. Anything less will cause you problems with overheating, lack of power and tripping out. Good luck with your camping adventures!

Have you run a outlet outside the battery compartment, to plug things in, or do you have to lift seat every time, and did the inventor come with a remote

I did consider running a short extension to the other side of the panel, but tbh I just don't use it often enough to warrant it. There is a long remote cord to switch it on and off, but for the same reason I don't use it. Thanks for your observations 👍

So today I've decided that your idea was too sensible to ignore and I've fitted a dedicated 13amp socket and dug out the remote. Much neater! Thanks for the idea. 👍

Hi Lorez. I'm about to fit a similar Inverter to my new Burstner motorhome. Mine has an Earth cable. Did you fit one? Thanks. Laurence

Hi, no I was confused about that too. Although mine doesn't have a cable, it does have an earth bolt. The general school of thought seems to be that earthing it is pointless when it's already earthed through the battery anyway, so I went with that. Good luck with your installation..
