Great video! I fitted on this weekend. Regarding the two grey plugs for the bumper wiring loom, the nearside plug has a tab that you pull away from the plug (not push towards the side of the plug body as is the norm). The other grey plug one has a small slot in it, facing the front of the car. You can just about fit a jewellers flathead screwdriver into the slot and use that as a lever to unclip it easily.
Thanks for the video. Just installed the genuine kit on a 2020 model. Install has gotten a bit easier I think from the video eg don’t need to remove back seat, wires come with own grommet and in a different spot etc. Glad I followed the supplied instructions but video was handy all the same.
Helpful video, but you forgot the sealing tape (part 7) between the cable and the rubber piece after drilling the hole and passing the cable through it. It is the 41 step in the Assembly Manual.
Hi there again Martin, Thanks for your prompt reply...well I was thinking of putting ‘all terrain’ tyres on, not really for looks but practicality....for grip, yeah maybe for looks too 😉 but I read somewhere that by using bigger wheels eats up more fuel...or I could stick with the stock rims and get ‘all terrain’ fitted on them..would that improve performance and looks and keep the Jimny economical on fuel?...
Where is the remote trigger wire for the reverse camera? I have a sony aftermarket headunit and I plan to fit a kenwood reverse camera. The sony unit can trigger the reverse on its own if you connect the reverse trigger wire. This way, the headunit can show the reverse by touching a button on the screen even if the car is not in reverse but also auto shows the reverse when putting the car in reverse. Has anyone fitted an aftermarket headunit with a reverse camera on remote trigger?
Hi there Martin, I’ve been watching your JB74 Jimny videos... I’m wondering if I can fit 16 wheel rims without having to do a lift ? I’m due to pick up my new JB74 Jimny in next couple of months and I know there a list of stuff I need to check before I drive it off the forecourt. I realise that a new car may have to be driven from storage to the dealership, but would you know should the engine oil be clear on a brand new car even if it had been driven . Be grateful for a response...Cheers
It's not a question of if 16" wheels will fit, is a question of what tyres you intend fitting to them? Oil should be pretty clean. Our dealer told is the ship that it came on so we could track it around the world and see it go in and out of the compounds. It had 6 miles on the clock doing this from Japan to Bristol.
@@bigjimny the radio is factory-wired to reverse gear, but it does not switch to video. I am looking for a pin out of the green cube. I have an adapter on the rca but I do not know if it is good, since it does not work. thank you
What I do know is that the connector is effectivity a USB connection. Therefore the camera needs to be a usb camera or if you are using RCA then the adaptor needs to convert video to data.
@@bigjimny oh, I didn't know that. I have a common green plug and a chinch cable. Please see this video: minutes 7:45 to 8:37 there was a blue screen on the cable itself without the camera ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dWMTcPfQAEs.html
