Fitting a Trailer Hitch Receiver to a CAT 304CR Excavator - 2023 #04
In this video I'm working on the CAT 304CR, its pulled into the entrance bay of the shed and the connection point for the trailer is getting some work done on it. In the previous video you will have seen that the tow ball is breaking the connection point, so a more permanent solution is needed.
I've bought a tow hitch receiver and its time to weld it in place.
Making progress, one weld at a time .....

Hey Daniel, the true test will be when I pull a full load up slippery hill, gulp ...!! If it fails I'll be losing a trailer down a steep hill

Well done 👍. The square tube that goes into the receiver - push it all the way in, mark where the pin should go thru & drill a new hole. The less the ball sticks out away from the blade, the less stress.

are you questioning my welds 🤔 .... hhmmm have some faith 😁. . Joke aside you are right, if i get any cracking or stress signs I'll do that, and add some extra gussets, but .... so far so good, its a year old and still going strong

Hey mate. This video is from feb this year so I’ve been using it a while and I leave the hitch in when using the dozer blade, so far so good. Thanks for watching.
