In these videos I share with you the work undertaken on my 10 acre block that suffered in the February 2014 fires. Post the fire the trees closest to the house (which burned down) were bull dozed over and the land cleared. Watch as I clear fallen trees, install retaining walls, fix irrigation, fix plumbing, install a septic system, build and repair access roads, fix the Dam, build a shed, make wood shelters and make lots and lots of firewood, before eventually building a house.

HAY Chris those termites don't last long with that punishment. Especially when you have Bruce Lee finish-em off. It's raining here pretty good now, everything is really green and looking nice. STAY COOL MATE...PEACE
Beautiful and green here too, still winter but already getting some early spring flowers starting to grow. Those termites only eat the good stuff….. what a waste. 😁
Hi, it’s been great. Awesome value for money I’d say. Issues …. I beefed up the piston to lift table as the piston started to bend the lift table with a big load on it. Couple of pieces of angle iron welded and that’s never moved. I’m 6’ 1” and found it a bit low when using for a full day so I took the wheels off and fitted a trailer axle and 15” wheels to lift it up which is much better and makes it easier to move it around too. I’ve split hundreds of cubes over the years, not the fastest but it’s split every thing I’ve thrown at it.
@@TheRuralProject Cheers mate. I am well. Not one load cut this past season. Had/have plenty of wood for this winter. Come spring & I’ll be like a termite hard at it. Have some private property access so I might get in early 🤷♂️. I should get the camera out n bung something up too. Take care 👍
Good effort, invest in a hydraulic log splitter. Best investment l made. Make sure you get one which can go horizontally and vertically for the big logs. I use a kanga to place big logs under. Works a treat.
Hey. Thanks for watching. I have a hydraulic log splitter and am also trying a kinetic splitter, but every now and again I break out the axe and enjoy myself.
@gremlin7599 hi, I bought mine for parts as it was not working, but after a bit of tinkering I got it working. The equivalent new machines are close to $2000. If it’s in good condition I’d pay $500 for one, not much more as they are many years old, but are a solid strong engine. Do you have the option to get one ?
@@TheRuralProject How much did you pay? I just bought one for 400$. Mine is hard to start even though supposedly it has brand new OEM stihl carb, and I don't think the previous owner lied to me. Air filter looks super clean, machine is clearly lightly used. Unsure of spark plug condition but once its fired up it runs great.
@@gremlin7599 mine was a bargain, $45. I wanted the auto feed head off it and was the only person to bid on it. Lucky for me I got it working as the head was in a bad state. $400 is a great price and I hope it serves you well for years and years. It’s a real powerful machine, you won’t be disappointed.
Hey Alan, you can keep the thistles, they grow too rampant here. Disturb the soil and thistles and Chinese bush grow back. The thistles get smashed with the brush cutter but poor old Bailey gets the mess stuck in his fur.
HAY Chris, sorry to hear the spirit in the sky wasn't on your side for this one mate. But now with all the overburden out of the way you got a look at what it's gonna take to build it better, and stronger to indure the test of time. It rained while we were gone, now we got a good look what we need to do to fix some retention problems. It's always killer to see Skippy and Joey rammin around. STAY COOL BROTHER...PEACE FROM CREEL CHIHUAHUA MEXICO...
Hey Gringo, rebuild better and stronger like Steve Austin, the 6 million dollar man 😂😂 That’s the plan, always improve the land. One way or another, but sometimes you have to make a mess to improve …. As you will see.
For the tree felling ? That was another video. I knew it would be a challenge but I got it down. It’s surprisingly effective but not as good as the trusty stihl. 😁
Nah, minimal when using it for limbing but a bit when chopping the tree as the blade shape requires a good shot, if you hit the curved end you cut nothing and send the vibrations through your arms.
HAY Chris, things are looking good 👍. Once you get that erosion problem under control you should be golden. STAY COOL MATE...PEACE FROM CREEL CHIHUAHUA MEXICO...
@@TheRuralProject lol... no my brother, on the train. I'm not allowed to run until next month. Did you see Daniel's video on tazapalooza?? Stay cool mate...PEACE
That same size log, but lying down, can be cut with that type of axe, I have a Stihl MS 170 chainsaw, too small, I am an amateur, I do not work as a lumberjack, it is only to get firewood for the salamander. I see you from Argentina
Hi, thanks for watching from Argentina. I’ve tried the technique of splitting along the length of the log, it works for some wood but it would not work very well on this piece, the grains are twisted and hold the pieces together making a really strong wood.
Hi, guys, thanks for sharing this video. We are glad you enjoyed using this machine, if you have any feedback or questions, feel free to reach out to us. FYI, we do have customers put two small short pieces in a row and split both at the same time if you want speed things up a bit more. 😁
Hey Thanks for watching. Good idea about 2 logs but in reality it’s hard to keep the logs in position , due to vibration, without jamming them onto the cutting head, so I suspect 2 logs would be a bit hit and miss. Any chance you can make a splitter with a moving cutting head and fixed push plate ? Any chance of a 4 way cutting head. I’d love to test that with you.
I've been using Autocut 40-2 trimmer head for 17 years now without problems. No line melting or severe breaking. I'm trying Autocut 46-2 this year (2024) for the first time. I've noticed similar issue like your trimmer head is doing. Trimmer line is melting and breaking in a bit thicker grass. I'm soaking my trimmer lines in water as much as I can. I'm using the same lines like I was using in my Autocut 40-2 head. I don't exactly know the reason of the melting and breaking. I love 46-2 head because it is a little shorter than 40-2. The bumper is not protruding so much so the head is not jumping so much and I can mow the grass a bit closer to the ground. But I must change it for Autocut 40-2 untill I find the reason or how to properly use the 46-2 head.
Hi, thanks for watching. Strange how you are also getting the same issue but not with every autocut head. I’ve noticed this year that it hasn’t been as bad, so I’m totally confused as to what causes it.
Thanks Dave, real life testing. Gotta split what you got. It’s split everything I’ve thrown at it but I’d avoid nasty twisted crotch wood etc as that’s asking for trouble, but it’s split rounds of yellow box and that stuffs tough and twisted grain.
I’m about 6 months behind with videos so it’s had lot’s of use. I have a video coming up where I have a problem but it turns out to be loose bolts and an easy fix. I still feel like it’s waiting to explode, the way the kinetic splitters work really loads up the rack and pinion ….. but so far so good. I’m guessing I’ve put 50 cubes through it.
I really want to see 1 of those splitters modded so that the wedge moves and pushplate is fixed like on your hydraulic. Would save dragging the wood back all the time when splitting it more.
It’s bloody impressive eh. It was a gamble getting it….. no regrets so far. It’s nice when the slow part of the job is the wood supply, I’ve had years operating the slow hydraulic and always waiting waiting waiting. Thanks for watching. More videos of the kinetic splitter coming soon.
Thanks for posting this, been wondering about the viability for a kinetic splitter, and moving from a “Redgum” style hydraulic one. I just don’t fully trust when manufacturers or sellers make videos about them. Would love to hear your overall thoughts, pros and cons on this machine and how you feel it suits Australian wood. Cheers
Hi, thanks for watching. Lots more videos coming soon. I’m really impressed with it so far. I do have an issue with it jamming in a few videos time but that’s easily fixed, just bolts coming loose. It feels weak, I wish it was more solid, the tray, main ibeam and covers are all very thin, so I’m always waiting for an issue. My 50t black diamond is solid and it feels like it will last forever, this feels like I’ll get a few years out of it, but….. it’s so fast it cuts the work drastically. The way they work is very hard on the machine, rack and pinion engages with a clunk, gotta get some broken teeth soon….. but, it’s so fast and efficient. Only time will tell. Obviously it’s not designed to split big twisted crotch pieces, but it’s split everything I’ve put through it so far and that’s included some tough yellow box.
YOU GUYS SURE MADE SHORT WORK OF THOSE ROUNDS. IT IS A GOOD INVESTMENT; THAT BRUCE LEE IN A BOX SURE MAKES YOUR LIFE A LIL EASIER. IT'S ALWAYS NICE TO SEE SKIPPY BOUNCEIN ROUND THE PROPERTY. IT RAINED HERE TODAY TOO. WE REALLY NEED IT FER-SHER STAY COOL MATE... PEACE...
Hey gringo, glad you liked it. I’m enjoying using it, and after a bit more practice now we are even faster. Work smarter not harder they say, what about faster and smarter 😁
Fiskars 1003621 Branch Machete 950 mm 990 g Or Fiskars XA23 Woodxpert. I believe this is what the gentleman is using and it may help people search it out. I think they cost about $70 for the long handled type seen here. About $40 for a shorter handled one.
I guess you really have to compare saws in the same wood. The 361 and 362 have the same size engine I think (59cc) so it would be a good test to see them head to head.
With red gum you don't split down the middle for that reason. You always hit the rings near the out side and take off big junk. I have been cutting redgum for 20 years so I should know.
HAY CHRIS, HOW YA BEEN? KINDA MISSED YA; I THOUGHT YOU WEN'T OFF TO TAZMAINIA TO LOOK FOR GOLD WITH "ROB PARSONS". THIS BUCKIN VIDEO REALLY MADE MY DAY; I MEAN, YOU, THE LONG ARM OF THE LAW, AND THE 462. WITH NATHAN OF CORSE UP TOP SPLITTIN' WITH BRUCE LEE IN A BOX. TOO BAD THERE WASN'T A LITTLE MORE BREEZE TO MAKE IT A TAD BIT MORE COMFORTABLE. LOOKS LIKE SKIPPY GOT A LIL CAMRIA SHY. GETTIN CLOSE WITH THE RENTAL CABINS. MY NIECE IS MAKIN' A WEB PAGE FOR US. I'LL LET YOU KNOW WHEN ITS DONE. ALSO, SHE SAID SHE'LL HELP ME LINK MY PHONE TO THE OTHER ELECTRONIC " P.O.S." SO I CAN SEND PICTURES. STAY COOL, CHRIS, AND KEEP PUSHIN' ON, BROTHER... PEACE FROM CREEL CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO...🦘🦘🪵🪵
Gringo, how you doing, hip healing I assume. All going good here, nearly up to date with the videos, only 6 months behind. Winters here, fires roaring and I still got loadsa jobs to do and not enough time. Looking forward to the website, might have to have a trip and book in. 😀
Well I'm only 6 months behind in my videos now, so catching up quickly, but those 6 months make a world of difference, temperatures have dropped, the fires on and I'm selling heaps of firewood. Sounds good to me. Thanks for watching and commenting.
hey Alan, it was a new "Archer" chain and they are like an elastic band at first, had done a few cuts and its stretched quickly, but it did chew that timber. Thanks for watching
Do like a swaddle like you would if you were rocking a baby and then swing over your shoulder then come down on the log coming over your head. As you come over your head , slide down your hand closest to the ax head almost joining your over hand
cheers Bro, I'll have to give it a go, but I've found my accuracy gets worse when I do it that way..... not that my accuracy is great my way. Maybe a bit more practice is needed 🤔
Hi, I’ve tried to wind it tight and very neat and still had the same. You can wind it as tight as you like, but eventually you have to let go and nothing in the head holds it tight so it can loosen up again.
Hey Marty. Some surprising results. The 462 shows how powerful it is in this comparison. The comparisons make the 261 look useless but it’s actually a great little saw.
the 462 is the saw that got squashed by a falling tree. I had to replace the tank and handle, the alloy casing underneath is still cracked ......... but it still cuts. The wobble doesn't look as bad in real life so i think this is a video affect making it look as loose as that.
Haha. Nothing like the fresh air mixed with 2 stroke smoke , the tweet of the birds and the scream of the stihl. Oh Happy Days. Not long to wait ….nearly weekend.
you don't like the 261 ? its a small very handy saw. You have to remember that this is very dense Aussie hardwood, so these saws have to work hard to cut through this wood.
