So after removing the vf3 spindle and opening it up to find the badly worn bearings etc I wondered if the spindle from the vfoe spares machine I bought previously would be any good and would fit into the vf3, well it did! And here’s the video of that process
Thanks for watching

Haas procedure for feeding oil to the spindle (and checking adequate oil flow over x time) Is to turn the machine on, home axis and all that. Remove oil feed line from spindle Put feed line into a container (pop bottle 2 holes in the lid, one vent. One for the line) Run the spindle at 50 rpm for x hours. Measure the oil quantity that has dropped into the pop bottle. I wanna say it was 2 hours run to receive 5ml of oil? Been a long time You can always do this with the oil line connected to drip feed oil into an early replaces spindle. Give a pill in the pump plunger right off the hip to begin the first oil push immediately then just let it run. Fun fact. One of the reasons the warm up cycle is 20 min is so that you will receive min of 1 pump pulse before running under load. It is also so slow at the start to turn in air and purge excess oil buildup in the bearings before running at high speed to ensure there is not too much oil. Thanks for the vids btw. I wish I had time to take some for others while I had my machine ripped apart.

Hi Thanks for taking the time to comment 👍 Yeah I had previously read through the oils line test process and carried it out on the vfoe I sold, On the vf3 it does seem to run cooler now after I first initially put some oil direct in the spindle feed line before running as I think it was too much but now it’s settled in and the excess cleared it no longer runs hot or feels hot after warm up or other long cycles Only spindle issue is sticking tools in the taper, which has seemed to get better but still happens Thanks Marc

@@kinzy_fabrications i use extrime pressure grease in my spindle, compleatly removes tool stick. 1/2 ml / day wipped on one tool thats in cerculation and good to go, just try to avoid coolant spraying on the taper as it washes it off. so thick its almost a warm tar. original use is for lubricating dead centers in grinding applications. also verify your not seeing a pressure drop when the piston engages. if the line is starving it for air it wont push as well and result in the tool changer pulling before the plunger is full pressure. hard on it. a little reserve tank after the regulator solves this perfectly. interesting about the "oil cavity" for cooling the spindle, i know mine is dry there, i wonder if i can run a flood coolant line in there for cooling? i do alot of 10,000 rpm and cooling never hurts. one last thing, im looking ot remove my spindle draw bar to replace the TSC carbide faces on the pluner and drawbar. is there any method of "dialing in" the draw bar when re installing it? i noticed mine has approx 0.005" runnout which i fear is damaging the tsc union seals

Hi Thanks for ther tip on the grease, i do currently use some white hi temps grease and it definitely helps. I have actually fitted a 1 litre reserve tank after the regulator already and it made no difference what so ever unfortunaly, i thought id try it as it was cheap to do and i had read of it helping by people on a few different internet forums. As for the draw bar run out there is no way to adjust it on mine but there may be if you have TSC as i believe you have to set the unions with a dial indicator within spec to make sure they dont get damaged as you say but as i have not got TSC i can help you on that im afraid Thanks Marc

@@kinzy_fabrications i would consider a grease with anti rinsing properties over a high temp, thats what ill be tryin on my tapers next. try to maximixe its retension on the taper. often with the side mount the tol holder will swing through a stream of coolant while changing. yoys think a 10% mix of coolant shoul be sufficent lube, but nope. i do need to try a reserve tank on mine though, im far from the compressor with a fairly small line.

Congratulations on your success. Was thinking about old spindle, would you make a video with the disassembled spindle showing the path the spindle oil please. I thought the oil mist traveled down the drawbar into the top of spindle taper, but now I believe that's incorrect. Would you help me understand that system better please

Hi Thanks for watching, In the new year when I have a bit of spare cash I will look into buying new bearings and having the taper re ground and I will do a video on the process but I’m afraid it won’t be for a little while As you say the oil mist enters the top collar ring and runs down inside the spindle assembly going through the bearings and finally dripping out around the spindle nose Thanks Marc

hi man tnx for making videos about old machins 💪👏 I need how to grid offset VF0. I have done google search but all methods work on new panel. can u help me ? 🙏

@kinzy_fabrications Год назад
Hi Your welcome Is your machine set to metric or imperial ?
@sajadsalehi1438
@sajadsalehi1438 Год назад
@@kinzy_fabrications it is defined on meteric
@kinzy_fabrications
@kinzy_fabrications Год назад
When you do the grid offset calculation You distance to go minus 2.997 Then you multiply that by the steps/unit ratio Once the have that answer then you need to divide that by 25.4 and then input that answer into your parameter as even though the machine is set to metric it seems the parameters are based on the imperial units still I had this same problem before and that works every time for me Thanks Marc

@@kinzy_fabrications Hello Mr Marc With your help, the machine was fixed🎉 I used your formula and it worked this was my path: 2.997-2.356=-0.641×104038÷25.4= -2625 I put this answer to grid offset and it worked 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 thank you ❣️ after that I think about A and B axis grids... what is the Subtract of this axis? i think they most have value of degrees What do you think about it?
@kinzy_fabrications
@kinzy_fabrications Год назад
HI I am glad that fixed it for you, With the A axis just treat it as normal and input the distance to go just as you would normally with the x y or z axis Thanks Marc
