I have MRKH, diagnosed 11 years ago, and watching the trailer made me fall into tears, especially the part where she lets her feelings out, hope the movie helps the young women who will be diagnosed in the future to feel less alone ❤️
OMG this just reminds me how Maddie is an adult now and is no longer a 9 year olds on Dance Moms! So proud of her for taking on such a mature and powerful role!! Her acting skills are also on point
This seems like awesome representation and I hope it helps raise awareness about the experience of people with similar conditions. It’s a brave role for Maddie and I’m glad to see her expanding her acting career. Also, I think the title has a double meaning 😂
@@Ranidine26 I just mean that it's a difficult subject matter, which will require her to express complicated and awkward emotions. It's not glamorous. She's a pretty young actress and she could have chosen to appear in a big action movie or a cool superhero role, but instead she chose something challenging and personal.
I studied this in college. Very fascinating to me, especially how even you can be born with a half testicle, etc. Every time I tried to explain this to people they'd look at me like I was nuts!! 😂 Glad to see representation on it.
I live with MRKH and I am so happy there’s finally a place where I see myself. I wonder if Maddie also has it - would make the experience even better. I’m finally in a place of deep gratitude for my diagnosis. I hope to share this message one day.
The director said she specifically didn't want to cast someone who also had MRKH, to avoid retraumatization of the actor. But yeah, Molly McGlynn wrote the character and she has MRKH. I think it's more important for the writer to truly understand the subject matter than the actor. Inters3x RU-vidr Blume has an interview with Molly McGlynn on their channel.
I thought it was about vaginismus for a second and was like great we’re talking about something that is not talked about at all! and then was like no it’s about another condition I’ve never heard of before which also is not talked about at all! So yay to learning more about the world!
It is vaginismus! Vaginismus being a symptom of a wider condition. So, representation of many things! [Imagine GIF of spongebob with a rainbow over his head that says "LEARNING"]
I only heard about intersex people this year and I’m 62. I feel compassion for them, the little bit I understand about it. I find it challenging being a human at all and then to have such a fundamental difference in an already tough world must take a lot of strength to deal with life.
My daughter has this. She does not consider herself intersex. I'm not actually sure why they are pushing it as such? Niether is she. She has studied her disorder for years on a scientific level. She is acually in school as a science major now. Scientifically it is not. I hope they did this movie in a tasteful way. By the looks of the trailer they may not have. I truly hope I'm wrong about that. It is a challenging disorder and hard to watch your child deal with this. But it's also something that perverts are drawn to once they find out people have it. So how they did this film matters in our eyes. I just pray it's a good representation of it, instead of politicized. Thank you for your kind words about the disorder and for being someone with a heart that is trying to understand it with compassion!!
@@laughsalot6847I think it is not necessarily about labeling people with MRKH as intersex, but about relating to the experience of intersex people, being outside the box of man or woman and how society expects them and their bodies to be. The main character is a woman and identifies as such, and this is fine and her own identity, but because of bodily differences she has had since birth, she cannot experience a range of things that the world expects to be easy and simple, and seems to struggle in isolation, if not for people with similar experiences. Since MRKH syndrome seems rare, support must be hard to come by, and besides I think she must be able to find a lot to sympathize with, even if they are not technically the same. I think portraying this relationship is a great idea because it bridges the gap for people who police gender, in addition to informing people about atypical gender experiences. The main character is unquestionably a woman, even if she is missing some pieces society deems "normal" and has a nontraditional relationship with her body, so relating this to the intersex experience would hopefully open some eyes and just let people live the way that makes them feel fulfilled and as themselves and pursue what they want. I myself was not really aware of MRKH syndrome until now, but I can imagine the difficulty of the experience, the confusion that it may cause, and the questions it raises about one's own identity, what they want, and where they want to fit in. The movie seems to be focused on the social experience of it all, as well as the personal, and about finding acceptance especially from those who are able to listen and understand. Positive vibes!
@@marie-evetremblay2526 i mean, yeah, theyre not saying the condition is intersex, but when people watch a piece of media representing a condition with themes including intersex, what else are they gonna think? many women with MRKH do not regard the condition as intersex, not even myself, and now im not sure i can associate myself with this movie if people who are unaware of the condition may end up viewing it as intersex. the theme of intersex being included will be reflected onto women like me with the condition, and i dont want that, because that's not what it is nor is it who i am.
MRKH is NOT interesex and, being someone that has previously worked with newborns, intersex infants are very very rare (have seen one in the past 3 years and we are a massive unit with over 100 patients).
I didn’t know this was an actual diagnosis I’m in complete shock on how I never heard of it and people are never brought to the attention that this can happen. Seems like a good movie I can’t wait to watch when it comes out.
i have MRKH- im glad you and i feel represented in such a private aspect of ourselves, feels good that we can relate and are not alone :') pages on how to dilate for vaginismus has literally helped me sm w/ my own condition
Ok I think this movie would be fine if y’all got someone to play the role who I haven’t been watching since we both were like 6, makes it a hard watch 😂.I love Maddie and hope she continues to grow as an actress but I honestly rather watch Dance Moms still lol and I do😂
@@bobbelfie8016Yes that’s exactly what I want, nah dude I’m just saying that’s the reason I don’t want to watch it, that doesn’t apply to everyone and I said she’s doing great lol it’s an opinion, not that deep.
An unnecessary representation, given that the odds of being intersex are so incredibly low as to be nonexistent. Of course idiot kids your age all THINK they are because they think it makes them interesting when it really just makes you insufferable.
I think the intention behind the movie has no malice, but I think it might end up a complete dumpster fire just like her other movie “Music”. Only this time, Sia will be no where around for everyone to cast the blame on.
I do hope this goes well. Risky business representing another disorder she doesn't have. I am not starting anything here. Just wondering how this will play out. I hope for the best.
@@JessicaFreeman-uy5po the director has that condition and it’s based on her life and she said a lot of the things portrayed are traumatic experiences and she didn’t want someone with the condition to relive that trauma obviously
I find her to be a hypocrite. She didn’t want it to be triggering for an actress with the condition, but she didn’t care at all, that she made a triggering comedy mockery of our infertility struggle. A lot of the girls with our condition. Do not want to see it. Some have gone to see it and we’re very upset afterward. I have a feeling this will continue to be the case
Maddie is 1 of those girls who can dance but the music career was ok, kinda corny, I just think she’s too much of a child being pushed to be taken seriously, I as a screenwriter wouldn’t want to cast those divas from reality tv. Look what happened to Jojo, need I say more.
Now's a good time to be thankful. Truly I say to you, whoever hears my word (Jesus) and believes him who sent me (God) has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.John 5:24 Repent/believe or you will not inherit the kingdom of God. Out of love Jesus died for you live 4 him.
The director of the movie (Molly McGlynn) has MRKH, and in an interview with Blume (inters3x activist on RU-vid) she said she didn't want to cast someone who had MRKH to avoid retraumatization of the actor. I think it's more important for the person who wrote the story to be intimately familiar with the subject matter than the actor. So this fully passes my sniff test. Also, Kai Griffin is an actor in this movie, and they are inters3x.
because as a film creator you want someone who fits the role and who can act, and there is probably not a lot of choice in intersex actors. Not that maddie is a very experienced actor either, but they also have to sell a movie and she is known by the target audience.
The reason is because MRKH is not an intersex condition. The intersex representation in the film is another character who does have an intersex condition
@@JessicaFreeman-uy5po So 'inters3x' is not a medical term (anymore) and it does not have a hard definition. Which conditions are and are not included depends on who you ask. The inters3x community seems to have come to the conclusion that if you identify as inters3x, then that's what you are, and that whether or not you are inters3x depends not only on what condition you have, but also on what life experiences came with that condition (e.g. dilation, feeling defective, forced surgery etc). It is more of a political group with common experiences of oppression and othering, and common interests (bodily autonomy and normalization of difference), than it is a medical group. That said, the person who wrote this film has MRKH and she absolutely does think of it as an inters3x story. In her interview with inters3x advocate & RU-vidr Blume she talks about how much it hurts to have people gatekeep her out of that identity. So I think you need to rethink your stance.
The Nobel QURAN Surat AL-lkhlas (4) Say: He is Allah, the One and Only Allah, the Eternal, Absolute He begetteth not, nor is He begotten And there is none like unto Him Return to ALLAH the all MIGHTY befor its to late Surly this life will end and everyone shall taste death don’t make this life your biggest concern May ALLAH the merciful guide you to ISLAM(submitting your self to ALLAH alone without any partner and following the teachings of the last prophet the seal of the prophets and messengers Prophet MOHAMMAD peace be upon him)
Well this was uncomfortable....Hard pass.... Also start normalizing getting actors who actually has said disorder to be in a movie.... Its more relatable if the actor actually knows what it feels like living with whatever condition the plot is about....
Only 1 in 5000 women are diagnosed with MRKH. To get the right actress, at the right age, at time production, etc. onward... might be a bit difficult ( PS. Im an MRKHer).
If you outline the months July, August, September, octiver … november.. spells Jason “Bloody hell” lol Pleasant thought… seems “holy” but just a mask.. Who likes to sweat’her…. Got mommy issues much? Its just a’lil fall humor. ::dink. Dink. dink:: chisels with the mine/minnning pick..
