Good videos Adam. Just a tip for you. It's impossible to change how stiff a spring is by altering the coilover. Whether it's compressed to half it's size or left full size the spring rate will stay the same. If the shocks have adjustment you can alter that to soften or stiffen the ride.
Adam, nice motors mate 👍 2 things that will massively help you out in the long run and cost next to fu k all to do....... 1.Remove the boot spoiler and clean up the boot lid and apply fresh sealant when refitting. The spoiler is a water trap do it before it rusts out far enough it appears from under the spoiler. You may be lucky and the seal has not failed yet but trust me it will. 2. Remove the front mudflaps and check for corrosion behind them where they are bolted onto the inner wing. Again easy to clean up and seal then refit the mudflaps but once it corrodes through its new wings unless it gets through to the sills in which case welding aswell. These are terrible for picking up road dirt and the vibration of the mudflaps acts like sand paper between the flap and the bodywork. You wont know its an issue until it bubbles through the paintwork. Edit: the rear mudflaps are ok because they are fixed to the plastic rear bumper 👍
Nice little video Adam, made me laugh a couple of times 😂 Interested to see some real world feedback on these coilovers. I don't really see the need to spend huge money on parts for a name, as long as they do the job and don't fall to bits, they'll be good for me. It's not like you're trying to set a lap record at the nurburgring or anything
The noise of the trolley Jack being dragged across the floor is enough to wake the dead! You do make me laugh though, don’t take yourself too seriously which Is refreshing these days👍
I think you’ve got your fronts on opposite sides, the camber adjustment plates on the top shouldn’t be pointing towards the front, they should be pointing straight across the front axle
I fitted the same brand coilovers to my 93 WRX 2 years ago. They are still going great, never let me down and well worth the money. They are built solid. Word of warning they are very very stiff and have little spring adjustability. However great for track days and smooth roads. And the price is just unbeatable as they are cheaper than stock suspension!
I Put a full set of these on a stock e36 318ti with the interior stripped and put in a respectable 9.36 round the ring. Excellent value for money no complaints from me either👍🏻
Adam your meant to check the pre load on them before fitting mate. Then figure out how much damping adjustment is needed and rebound if they have that once fitted, probably 4 to 5 clicks at the rear 5-7 at the front.
Afternoon Adam, your motor looks mint and I’m tempted to get one . When I had my first mid life crisis I got a brand new focus ST, but it was close between a Subaru and the ST , so my second mid life crisis I might just get one 😂
Had my bugeye 12 years now. There's a reason I've kept it so long 😏 Unstoppable in the snow. With the tyres Adam has he can pay for the car by using it for recovery.
Nice little mod, you made it look very easy!! Is there anyway to adjust the damping, via that bolt on top of the shock maybe? That should eliminate any 'bounce'?😎👍
Hahaha I was bummed for you when you started trying to remove the trunk lining. So easy to remove the seats IMO it's just 5 big bolts total. The strut bolts are torqued to around 150 ft-lbs so they are tight tight. Still holding up?
Adam the top adjustment is for the spring tension no expert but got Bc coilovers on my supercharged Gt86 Mine were set so I’ve left them alone !lower locking nut for the adjustment of height ! Top plates with Alen keys for camber for tipping wheels in or out depending on wheel spec 😉
When you've sorted the ride height I'd recommend getting your tracking and camber checked. Dropping the car will give negative camber and eat ya tyres. Good video though 👍
The filming and cut always on this is genius. If you’ve filmed this yourself it’s outstanding. Refreshing YA NAHH HA WAY MAN, GAN GET JEFF FROM DOON THA GROVE 😜✌🏻
Alright Adam thought I’d let you know in the garrison garage in Aldershot I walked in there a 3 door mint barn find apparently shipped back from Greece! But it has no engine!
Just adding my two cents worth. Surely the bouncy ride is due to the damper not being effective enough in relation to the spring rate. Can you adjust the damper?. Also those Snow tyres are lethal. Two of my Mates years ago bought snow tyres cheap. One had a right off crash days later in the rain and the other had a massive spin out at a speed that his car would normally easily take a local corner at.
I’ve got Pedders xtreme coilovers on my Forester STI and they work really well, don’t know anyone that’s used them coilovers but they do look good, I’ll be looking forward to the next vid to see how they are doing, oh and I’ve got a Peroni on the go too 🤘
I Adam another good video mate ...and fair play doing it yourself it's all about learning 👍oh and ya jack sounds like you trod on a dog's paw lol ..keep em coming .
Great video enjoy watching your videos are you sure your impact wrench is 600nm has I've got a ryobi impact wrench 400nm and that takes any bolt off that I've used it for and done alot of suspension work with it
Dude your camber adjustment needs to be set at 90degrees to the car... geometry will be messed up properly... wind them down a bit too, still too high. Good content though..
Don't rely on a battery operated spanner on important things. Use a torque wrench. Also, an old mechanic's tip for you - if something very tight is not undoing, turn it a flat tighter. 98% of the time it'll free it.
Hi I think you have the shockers fitted incorrectly Adam the camber adjustments on the front struts should be able to e adjusted side to side rather than front to rear.
Nice set up just need your tracking doing now,you have change the suspension. Unless you are going to fit poly brushes all round first. Then have it set up.
pretty sure they are the same as what my mate had and one litreally snapped . dont really understand cheaping out on stuff like that for a decent car .
Loving the scoob addition.....a car I’ve always threatened to own!!! Think it would cause unrest in the family and the neighbourhood 😂.....and for that it makes me think fuck it, I’ll buy one 😊😂 keep up the videos 👍🏼, you may tempt me to follow in your footsteps!
Yes your adjusting the preload but usually you run them with the preload set by the manufacture, it’s bouncy becouse there cheap lol. Also the topmounts on the front need spun around as you won’t be able to adjust the camber correctly
Dude don't jack up on the outrigger rigger bracket , if you bend it you'll get some wired arse vibrations through you diff carrier.second time was the way .
Looks like these are non adjust ones. On their site they show adjustable ones for the same money so shame not to have got them. They look a bit under damped by the bouncing.
Sorry mate but you got the camber plates the wrong way round. 🤣 And the reason they are so cheap is they are generic. Spring rates and shocks are set the same for every car. I can't see them being better than the standard ride. They are just made to get as low as possible no thought about anything else. You need to get a torque wrench mate... The shocks shouldn't be over tightend and definitely don't do up your wheel nuts with that gun.. Probably only needs 120 NM at the most. They are for undoing.. Can spin them on with it but then do up with wrench at end.
