I was on vacation July 4th week at the Harrah in Cherokee, NC. I had a $8K bankroll and used the bank management of 10% per session rule. My best throw was 5 numbers and a 7 for the entire 5 days. I came home with $7K bankroll ( or $1K lost ). The best thing about keeping your money is watching your money! It was not luck that I did not come home with ZERO $. I have played craps for many years (once a year when I’m in Vegas) and I always love to see refresher courses on the odds. And I especially appreciate the discussion of true odds and how the casino pays out less to make their profit. These are all important to know and difficult to learn unless one actually takes a course or reads a book.

Good going. I am always amused by the house advantage. That 1% to 14% is how they make their money; build casinos, pay for employees, pay the enormous electric bills with all those lights. You figure 1000 people a day, each will $1000 (as an example): that's $1 million times 1% or 14%, that is $10K to $140K a day. I'm just saying. :)

The Odds Bet are the best "House Edge" bet in the casino as you mention, no question. But they don't change probability. Taking full odds on a point of 4 might pay you perfectly ... but you've got a 2:1 chance of that bet never paying because of the probability of the 7, which doesn't change. I rarely take or lay the odds other than in special circumstances. I get ridiculed for that, but frankly, I make more consistent money over time by not indulging.
I like the way you put that: "... you've got a 2:1 chance of that bet never paying ..." Those odds numbers for a win: are exactly the odds you have to Lose. So a 7 to 6, 7 to 5, 9 to 5 tell you are going to Lose.
This is correct casino rely on player limit playing time and small bankroll, which is why they really want you taking max odds. Variance gives them high probability you will lose all your money if they can get you to bet too much relative to your bankroll..
Correct, Odds bet is great for short term swings IF, the dice go in your favor, otherwise you are just losing more, in the end it doesn't matter if you make the odds bet or not, your vig to the casino comes from the line bet.
Went to the casino earlier and played bubble craps. I used tour strategy and was up to 500 from 200. Then I pushed my luck and left 100 bucks ahead. Not gonna complain about that. Thanks for the excellent how to videos! You really helped me figure out what the Hell I was doing.
One comment about odds bet - at a standard 3-4-5x game after a point is established and you take full odds, the overall edge of the pass + odds is the exact same as just placing the point. You're really hoping for come out wins. So for anyone not shooting the dice, you're better off just placing the point. If you're playing a 5x odds or better game and have the bankroll, then play the passline + max odds. I always wondered why all the old timers just place numbers and avoid the passline, this is why. Plus, $15 games are the norm so I just place a point for $50 vs $15+$30 in odds (what I used to do) and receive a better payout. Then I regress that bet to $15. I've found it to be a better way to play.
This is the best explanation I have seen about craps bets. Thank you! Question - if you take odds on your pass line bet, do you bet different amounts depending upon your point number? For example, if your points is six or eight, would you bet a higher amount when taking odds compared to a point of four or ten?
So the table is going to allow a maximum amount in odds. Some tables are easy, they allow 2x, which means you can add twice the amount you bet on the pass line. A 5x table allows five times the amount bet on the pass line. The most common though are tables that allow 3x4x5x. Which means you can bet 3x the amount if on the 4/10. 4x the amount if on 5/9 and 5x the amount if on 6/8.
Ah ok, if that is the question. The answer is it doesn’t matter. They are paid accordingly to how difficult they are to roll. 4/10 pay better as harder to hit, 6/8 pay less because more chance to roll. But all paid according to the math probability to roll. So you can just bet on the one you like

I only play craps when $5 is minimum with 20X odds. I only play the Pass line and its odds. Betting odds is the only bet where the house does not have an advantage. I won most of the time on my last few trips to Vegas. I quit when I win $1400 or lose $700. My main goal is to have fun playing. If I lose $700, I enter it as entertainment expense in my budget. The same if I won $1400.
The pass line bet is a 1.4% house edge in its totality. After the point has been rolled it’s now a horrible bet to have on the table, especially if the point is a 4 or 10… then it’s a 50% edge to the casino. Placing 1x odds would reduce the casino edge at this state in the game from 50% to 25%.
1) don't pass/passsline with odds. 2) don't come/come bet with odds. 3) put bet with odds 5x or higher 4) place 6/8 5) Buy the 4/10 for $30 not $20 and still $1 vig
Put bet has a house edge of 9%, additional odds can bring the avg. between two bets down, but 9%, !! can’t be on list. Some places will let you push the house to $39 buy bet for $1, that’s great.
@@ColorUp thanks for replying, my advise reconsider the push bet.. take 10x odds on a 15min table you get the point you want for example 6/8 and less variance. So the total house edge will be less than 1% better than place 6/8. And in some cases better than pass with odds if you are a contrled shooter, it lowers the variance by keeping your money where you want it 6/8 at a lower house advantage than place 6/8. Which is why I have it ranked correctly.
@@ColorUp tunica 4/10 are auto buys, and only in increments of 10 so the best bet is 30, if you jump to 40 vig will be $2 as you know.. I asked some places if I can bet 38/39 most of the time told no or they don't understand what you are trying to do . But put bet anytime over 5x odds with it is lower house advantage than the place 6/8 or buy 4/10 so it should certainly be ranked in the top 5.
Just a small nuance. After a point is established the pass line bet no longer has a 1.4% edge. House edge goes up significantly since it only pays even money if the point is hit. That’s why min of 3x odds is required to get the shooter back to the same payout of place bets.

@@ColorUp I found one. Thank you! What’s very interesting to me is that I’ve been playing craps for many years. I’ve always bet only on the even numbers (while buying the 4 and 10). With the vig on the win only we get a decent 1.67% house vig. However, many casinos allow you to buy the 4 and 10 up to $39 and still only have to pay $1 because they charge a dollar for every increment of $20 but always round down. So if you buy the 4 and 10 at $39 you cut the house vig on a resolved roll down to .855% which is incredible! I wonder if this is the best bet in the casino (not counting true odds). You probably already know this but I thought I’d bring it up for others 😀

doey don't system can be played on pass/don't pass....come and don't come are same bets, just when the puck is already on...why would that make any difference?

Or look for a player that does take any odds bets and ask them if you can place money on their place bet. many times I have had people say go ahead I dont care and I get to play with zero house edge.

What would the payout be if you layed odds on the DP. Let’s use this example: I put $100 on DP then after the come out roll, the point is 10 and I lay $400 more on the DP. Will they pay that at a 1to1 or is it only 50%? I know my original DP $100 bet will be paid with $100 but not sure about how much I’d get paid on the $400?
@@ColorUp I meant 'house odds'. Still 0.85% for 1x and 0.18% for 10x or is it more complicated than that? Maybe have video you can link but... are max laying odds amounts same? 3x,4x,5x? And given than, maybe nice to give house odds for 1-5x? Instead of 10x? Maybe the range of house odds is so small you can just list range. But those were my questions. Max bet allowed and house odds. I cover it in a few videos, but can’t find a specific one for you. The pass is 1.41% and the dont is 1.36%. With lay odds that slightly different percentage Carrie’s through as you lay free odds very similar to take odds. 0.7% single odds, 0.5% and 0.1% for 100x odds. If a table allows 345x odds they allow that for lay odds. But that amount is the “win” amount so your actual lay amount is more.
Hey, question on laying odds. So say for sake of simplicity I am at a 10x odds table and I want to lay maximum odds. Am I limited to 10x the about I'll win, or am I limited to the amount I can lay? In other words, I want to lay maximum odds on a 5. Max odds on that bet is $50, but to win $50 on the Don't 5, I need to lay $75. Can I lay the $75 in this instance?
Twelve should pay 36:1 only if you are required to leave your original bet until you lose it. Otherwise, 35:1. 30:1 is essentially the standard, as all the center-table odds are the worst. I've not been to a house that would allow you to play the numbers without being on the Pass/Don't Pass first, and those houses have never taken a "5% commission." The number odds have historically been 6:5, 3:2, 2:1... as long as you're on Pass/Don't Pass. Putting a quarter across the board on the numbers always cost $160... $25 on the even numbers and $30 on the odd numbers. Things must have changed since the last time I was on a table, based on the videos I've seen. I had the dice for 25 minutes once in a 4AM session in Vegas... made enough to pay for the entire trip and take the wife to the Grand Canyon by helicopter, all before breakfast. I made about 14 or 15 successful passes. I was playing my middle-class level bets but other players were betting huge amounts and made a lot more than I did. That night, I threw down a nickel "YO" and hit it. But, I was just loopy enough from the free drinks that I thought I hit the Pass line and said "Let it ride!" So, now I had $80 on 11, and hit it again. When the dealer put 12 $100 chips in front of me, I had no idea what he was doing. When I questioned him, the huge pit boss came over and said, "Pick up your chips, sir. You're slowing the game." I sobered up in about point four seconds.
I’m not sure anything has ever changed. You stated the true odds that you can take behind the line bet. Place bet odds are different 7:6, 7:5, 9:5. And the 5% vig is if you buy a number instead of place bet it. I don’t know if a single casino that requires a line bet in order to make place bets. Line bet is required to shoot the dice. Usually they’ll require it if only playing the prop bets or side bets.
Well bacc and craps the casino always has edge. They are negative expectation games. Poker is against other players and if you are good, you can have the positive edge, even a big one. Blackjack it’s possible to gain slight edge if perfect strategy and card counting.
No 4 OR no 10 for $300 and $110 inside plus you can add the horn for $5. 7 rolls you lose $115 but win $150 minus commission = $25 win. Hit anything inside you win $30. Lose only with a 4 or 10. Add the horn bet the only number you can lose on is the 4 or 10 which ever you bet against. Regardless of how you play in the long run you will lose.
yes, i play that too. the trick is to get out when your ahead. my number is $500. i'm finished. one thing...i don't bet the 4 AND 10 just the 10. the horn is the key to success.
@@donwelch6612 I've done both the 4 and 10 at the same time and I've also done just one of them at a time. No real logic between the decision of the 4 or the 10 just a gut feeling. Like every other "system" you will lose in the long run....
Too damn complicated. Best bet is 50/50 as long as you also bet 48.6/51.4. So you’re basically, at best essentially 49/51 on bets, at the very best, that will only get you one dollar per one dollar bet. You have to get lucky over and over and over again. Which explains those scenes where crowds are cheering and whooping it up at a craps table because someone happens s to be getting lucky for a few minutes. It’s so unusual, it’s thrilling. To hell with that. Might as well play the dollar slots. At least IF you get lucky on a slot machine you will win something significant. Or Hold ‘em.l in the poker room. Not that I am advising anyone to do that either.
