So many more things to say. I didn't even touch on any of the iconic scenes in the movie or any of the really good scenes. The most iconic ones are probably Bobby playing a stranger's piano and Bobby ordering toast. I think the best scenes are Bobby playing for Catherine and Bobby talking to his father. These are really remarkable.
I am a bit shocked that I never said the word novelesque in this review, because that is probably the first word that comes to mind when I think of this movie.
See how Bobby's red bomber is a bit faded. The coat he borrowed from James Dean has been through the wash a few times perhaps.

5:06 When you mentioned "European Movie", "The 400 Blows" by Francois Truffaut immediately comes to mind.

He doesn’t want to settle for mediocrity. His struggle is due to the realization that mediocrity is all he knowns and his search for something in his life that will reawaken his emotions, desires and feelings that have become dulled by his mundane existence.

I believe that the overall arc of this film is the transition Picasso made from his “blue” period to his “rose.” Only in reverse… The oilfields of Bakersfield (?) transitions to the blue-hued shades/emotions of Washington (British Colombia) on the trek up the Pacific Coast Highway. Another example of this, I believe, is Hal Hartley’s “Trust” where Adrienne Shelly goes from a “bitchin’” pink top to the protagonist’s dead mother’s blue waitress dress

Rayette is an open-heart with a relaxation of spirit and Tammy Wynette’s music fuels both

watched this film 2 years ago and I absolutely loved it, I know a film perfect for this channel that you should review and it hardly ever gets any recognition or praise for the masterpiece it is, that film is Figures In A Landscape (1970) it's a film about two convicts Mac & Ansel played by Robert Shaw & Malcolm McDowell who trudge the desolate wilderness while being pursued by a mysterious black helicopter who intends to not only capture them but toy with them, there's a few elements later seen in Duel (1971) and it's quite possible Spielberg was inspired by Figures In A Landscape considering the stunning simularities, I reviewed this on my show Streed Reviews last year, I'm actually the first person on RU-vid to review this film, I couldn't recommend it enough, it's a must see, trust me.

hm I'll check it out. Interesting cast and a Robert Shaw screenplay is pretty cool. I watched the Joseph Losey film The Servant a few years ago. I don't remember much about it tho tbh.
