I’m full of admiration for you younger sewers, your enthusiasm for your garments plus the fact they all look wonderful. I was a keen sewer in my younger years as I was very petite and couldn’t buy clothes to fit, equally now I’m elderly another problem I have is being overweight which brings its own problems.
The Ilford is a lovely jacket. You’re right in that you can make it look different. I made a light cord one short but no pockets. It looks completely different . Make it your own! I think in the quilted fabric you may need to size up. It’s a dropped shoulder and you’ll need to watch the seam there. If you’re binding the seams then it could be a bit bulky there.
I made the Ilford out of plaid flannel twice this winter. I'd definitely use the finished garment measurements to pick your size as it is quite oversized. I thought it was a pretty easy sew and Friday Pattern Co has an excellent sew along on their RU-vid channel!
I have seen a few knitting podcasters that have made the outline tee, just searched RU-vid for it and it looks like there are several podcasters talking about it. I enjoyed seeing your sewing plans and project. I have been enjoying sewing more with indie sewing patterns but as we are heading to winter I will have a look back at your earlier videos for winter ideas
The reef outfit is a lovely make which I have done a few versions of as sleepwear. The top is cut on the bias so you will need a non-directional fabric. I have made both versions of the shorts, and the shorter version are VERY short in the waist and barely covered my bikini style underwear.
Ah good point I guess the strawberries might not work then! Thank you for pointing that out. Good to know you like the pattern 😊 Thank you for watching xx
For some reason my original comment got deleted. I just wanted to recommend the cami tops from My Favourite Things Knitwear. She has many beautiful designs. I'm definitely planning to make at least one of them over the spring/summer. I look forward to seeing your makes!
Hi Sally. I made the ilford a couple of years ago in a cotton twill and did Hong Kong seams. It is a fun make. Planning another one in linen to wear over dresses. Enjoy 🌝
I recommend Cumulus tee/top by Petiteknit. It runs a bit large so you could size down depending on the ease you want but her patterns are always nice and well written. Good luck, can’t wait to see your FOs!
Lovely list, I always love your fabric recommendations. I was also influenced to want to knit the outline top by hello lavender ha, though I also have my eye on the tee version too.
If you're interested in my opinion for fabric for your Pippa dress, I think the Self Made floral suits your coloring better than the Minerva one. It's warmer and more muted. Thank you for sharing your plans...they're very inspiring!
Love hearing all your plans! Planning is the best part, methinks. The knit tank you mentioned looks beautiful. I saw a reel of the ladder being made and it made me nervous! Can’t wait to see if you do it and how it turns out. I plan to knit the Two of Wands Streamline Tank in a lilac bamboo cotton yarn for summer. It looks quite similar to your choice, minus the heart palpitations 🫣🫣 I’m currently knitting Sweater No. 1 By My Favorite Things in a beautiful sage green silk mohair and it is just gorgeous so far. Praying I don’t mess it up. Ps I got the audiobook of Godmersham Park and finished it in like 3 days. Loved it. Mainly because I love Austen. Thanks for the recommendation! What are some other historical fiction books you’ve mentioned? I can’t recall. 😊
It does look rather scary doesn’t it I probably saw the same reel 😂 I love the look of my favourite things knitwear I’ve not tried their patterns yet are they easy to follow? Also how is it knitting with mohair? I’m glad you enjoyed the book I loved the miniaturist and the glass house by eve chase? X
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress so far the pattern is really simple. Top down, in the round, stockinette and rib. Easy. Mohair is nice to knit with. Grips whatever you’re holding it with so acts as one strand. Feels dreamy! This is the third thing I’ve knitted using it. I’ll check those books out. Thanks again!
The sound of the vlog is great.Your patterns and fabrics look great. There are short patterns with not such deep waistbands which could be more comfortable. If you make the knitted vest be careful of how low the neckline is.
I've knit the Outline Tee which is another pattern from the same designer with the same dropped stitch pattern. This was actually the first garmnet I ever knit and it isn't as hard or scary as it looks!
I made the Anderson dress the. I immediately made the Southbank. I have made seven Southbanks. Five for me, two for other people. Haven't got round to wearing the Anderson...
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress let's just say I looked like I had a lot in common with a sack of potatoes! No contest for me I am afraid. Won't attempt the Anderson again. And I am a Style Arc fan!
