@Hellequin Maskharat hahahahah, you watched all those videos and decided a caiman lizard is the best for you? That's awesome. Must be good snail suppliers in Germany
Banana iguanas are neat looking, I consider the Cayman Brac iguanas the best and smartest reptile in the world. Easy to care for and tame and train just like a dog. Never been a reptile to top the Cayman Brac rock iguana! Ani I cant believe why Clint keeps dissing greens, all my male and females are tamer then any in this video.
We have around 14-ish green & rhinolophus iguanas in our rescue, and several came in as adult male wild caught ones. My albino is flighty as hell. My trans one-eyes baby is as sweet as pie, and we have many greens who are absolute dolls! I agree that iggies are horrible beginner pets tho lol.
@@DaveDurham to be honest my mother had two while I was growing up and they really weren't that bad. They were extremely mellow and were allowed to roam the house freely every day when I was about 5 or 6 until they passed later on in years and I never got bit. I got whipped once but that was completely my fault.
Same....but I do have some reptile whisperer powers cause I've befriend a wild Snapping Turtle for 20+ years at my lake that hangs around my dock...I will even hand feed her because of the bond we've built ----> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ob_-URFzA2w.html
This video turned out great except I was being eaten alive by mosquitoes while I was trying to hold the camera steady, so yeah…fun times. We’ll have to do another trip like this again very soon!
Please don't take my main comment as a slight! I'm a mosquito magnet, so I get it...but can anything more be done in post processing to smooth out the shake? It was genuinely nauseated and I couldn't watch the video, as a result.
Pied Pectinata have done the impossible and made me kind of want an iguana. They're just so cool looking and I love the idea of an iguanian that doesn't have the devil inside it that is that big. Edit: I've never identified with clint more than when the first baby he gets in his hands he instantly falls in love with.
It makes me happy there's people out there that come up with these things. That would probably never be able to own an iguana but I do find them beautiful and now I know where to go and see all the different varieties.
@@TheIndulged1 | I've known many people who talk like that when explaining things. He could be high, but I'm pretty sure he's just not use to explaining like this and in front of a camera.
Aww Chris is so cute! He seems a little camera shy but you can tell he really cares about the iguanas, and Ty is so kind! I’m glad this place is becoming so successful
Re. the Albino Green Iguana: I would have thought the lack of awareness from being blind would make them more anxious... It's surprising that it chills them out.
Learned helplessness? Iguanas have great vision so it’s a pretty significant impairment. Though that may lead to them being less on edge because they won’t be able to perceive many changes in their environment.
I don't think it's learned helplessness. It's that their startle and flight responses are triggered by visual stimuli. No visual stimuli, no flight response. (Normally sighted iguanas can be as tame as the albinos, but you have to start handling them when they are very young, and some individuals will tame down a lot easier than others....as you saw with the pied pectinata babies, there is a huge variation in temperament.)
We've had an albino since he was very little & he still freaks out when we get him out (he's a few years old). He calms down pretty quick though. He's so blind it's not funny - he'll face surf all over if we put him into a screened enclosure (trying to escape the light when it gets too hot). I have regular sighted ones who are sweeter & some who aren't too. *shrug*
Well a lot of times you can cover a reptile’s face to calm them down like put a blanket on them so I guess it’s like they have a blanket on all the time
"If you smoke cigarettes, your lizard is going to end up living longer than you" should be a bumper sticker or something. Also, I vote for Clint for a name, as your namesake!
@@YouCrackedIt | I've known many people who talk like that when in such situations. He could be high, but I'm pretty sure he's just nervous and new to explaining like this, while in front of a camera too.
My babysitter when I was about 4-5 years old had a huge green Iguana that didn't have an enclosure, it just roamed free, and there was all sorts of fake vines and trees and a bunch of "jungle gym" netting hanging from the ceiling and he'd just chill up there all day with his basking lights. I don't remember it ever coming down except to eat. I've always thought they were so cool, but I've never desired to have one because I knew from a young age how large they could get...and was always warned to leave him be or he would likely whip me with his tail.
My aunt had a green iguana, I only saw them move once when she spritzed them with water they sort of perked up a bit. Had this massive enclosure. They'd be in a slightly different position every time I saw them.
"very pleasant but could bite your hand off" quote of the day right there! I love rhino iguana but, sadly, are illegal in Canada (not that i have the room for one anyway). This video with the detailed iguana info goes really well with Dav Kaufman's broader tour video. What a cool place!
@@zacharyalfano9846 I'm not really sure. They are illegal across the whole country. A couple of years ago someone got 3 months in jail and a hefty fine for smuggling a couple into the country.
I like that name you have. I live in Toronto and had iguanas a while back, I LOVE them! What Moron banned them? Some Scaredy Cat? Dumb Lawmakers know Sh*t.
HAHAHAHA, the whole video I was thinking "this shaky camera work is straight up Kaufman level" and then suddenly Clint talks to the camera man and it is him. 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Dude, those pectinata iguanas are insane! Both the banana and the pied! I've never really cared for iguanas, but now I'm thinking there might be some of these guys in my future. And I agree with the guy below, you should name your new buddy Rorschach.
The family pet store I go to has this gorgeous Pied Pectinata named Gigi. She's always so chill, and she's almost always out and relaxing when I go, she's the first iguana I'd ever thought about being a good pet. They're amazing lizards!
I love iguanas a lot and owned one in highschool. I really wish your channel was around when had gotten her. They are great animals but i really had no idea what i was getting myself into. I was 15 and just went to petco and made my case to my dad to get one and he caved. I know it was irresponsible to make a decision like that without doing the proper research. I really wish petco and petsmart were better versed in their reptiles because basically when we asked any questions we found out a year later that everything they told us was either a lie or they just genuinely didn’t know. We had a lot of ups and downs trying to learn what she needed to thrive and because of our early ignorance she had developed metabolic bone disease. We hated ourselves for allowing that to happen but we were determined to ensure that she could live her best life even after our mistakes. We did eventually get everything right for her and she was just the best. Honestly it began my love for reptiles and led me to get my BCI boa down the line. Unfortunately my iguana has passed on now because of an issue with laying her clutch of eggs. It was a very sad day in our family because she was a member of the family. You don’t bottle feed a baby iguana when nursing it from MBD without developing a serious attachment with them. Because of that bond she’d only be fine with me going into her cage to retrieve her (I don’t know for sure that was the reason but i like to believe so). Anyways i love your videos and whenever my friends ask me questions about what to get for their first reptile pet i always always always send them links to your channel and tell them to do as much research as humanly possible when it comes to getting a reptile. Reptiles are amazing creatures and make great pets but people need to know what they are getting into because it’s not as simple as just getting a lizard or snake just to have it. I learned my lesson after Bree (that was my iguanas name) and I’m so happy your channel now exists so that we as reptile pet owners can become more informed and become better pet owners to these wonderful creatures. To be quite honest my next snake that I’m getting is going to be a Kenyan sand boa and i would never thought about getting one if i didn’t watch your video on them so thank you. I’ll be sure to name it Clint! (Also a fun side note with My old iguana is that for a year we believed it was a male and his name was Bro but when we found out it was female we had to adjust for a more fitting name which is how we got to Bree)
I’m sorry that you lost your iguana. And I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to blame yourself too much. You did the best you could with the information and resources you had at the time. You also clearly cared for Bree, given that you made the necessary changes and put in the effort to get her as healthy as possible. I hope the people you’ve helped educate before they got their reptiles understand how valuable your passion for reptiles is. I hope you’re able to enjoy the presence of many other beautiful creatures our world has to offer.
Had a blue color morph green iguana. Raised her from a baby and handled her daily. She loved the cat tree in my living room more than my cat and she loved attention. Currently am raising a rhino iguana and he so far is one of my favorites, loves his attention lifts up to be petted and has a spot like a dog. He will stretch his back leg out when you scratch him just right lol.
My favorite part was the hatching Rhino Iguanas. ❤ They're hands down my favorite species and to see their not so little baby heads poking out made my day.
I used to have a green iguana when I was 9 and it was my best friend. it was my first pet, 6 ft long free roamed the house with basking spots set up in every window and a hot spot in its tank too. it even got paper trained to poop in 1 corner and would wait for the paper to be put down. it did need a ton of attention but was a sweetheart and never got aggressive except when it was a baby and bit my ear.
It was probably a female. They don't seem as evil as the guys do. Every kid needs a lizard friend. They teach you to be responsible and to care for another life other than your own. I'm in my 50's and still have lizard friends. They are better than most humans.
Think about naming that cutie Ty to remember this awesome experience and in honor of Ty Park’s generous donation. Good conversation starter to all the conservation efforts
I raised a green iguana from a baby and of course named him Ignatius. He was so much fun and had the best personality. He always stood on my head while I cleaned until he got way too big. Loved that guy.
As long as you know what you are getting yourself into, because like Clint said in his video about Green Iguanas they will reach a stage in life randomly one day and start attacking you
My jealousy is out of control rn. This had to be a bucket list kind of experience! Such a cute new boy added to the family! I can’t wait to watch him grow!
Oh my god! I did watch your Green Iguana videos and have to say it made me laugh so much. Mainly by the way of your delivery. Too funny. I'm a dedicated green iguana keeper and have been so for the past 30 years, and I'm in the process to adopt another one soon as my big beautiful boy sadly died at the age of 19. I've been a huge fan of Ty's for many years and I really, really would like to visit Iguanaland and meet him. He's such a legend and done so much for conservation. I love the Bakerii and know the founder (well, got his book and met him on a convention) of the research facility on Utila. One day I'll visit that place, too. Beautiful job they've done helping to save the black iguanas and getting the green ones off the endangerded list. Keep doing what you're doing. PS secretly a big jealous you got this gorgeous pied baby, but I don't do well with insects, so Green Iguanas all the way for me. 🙂
Those pied iguanas have such an insane pattern, they remind me of urban mixed up with digital camouflage, so incredible, if it was my call I was gonna name him Urban just for that
You should make a video about Fiji Iguanas, I fed them once at the Warsaw zoo and totally fell in love with them. Incredibly beautiful, gentle and tiny. I will have a pair one day
@@zacharyalfano9846 ah yes, more scaly body to cuddle :D if I ever get to keep the big stuff, I think I'll go back to hydrosauruses. They're badass and they know it.
My cousin had a green iguana that was about 6 & 1/2 feet long, and he was really chill, but he'd been well socialized his whole life. We had to build an enclosure into a room of their house because of his size. Definitely would not recommend for most people, but he was an impressive beast. Absolute unit! 😁
Just what I was coming to comment. The human male husband in 101 Dalmatians was named Roger (another possibility), but more folks will get the Dalmatian reference to Pongo. I wonder how long it will be before the green turns to white and black?
Green Iguanas still are my favorite :) just love them so much. There is so much you can do with the size of their enclosure, even turn it into their own little jungle. Though I am not going to lie, I do stick with the females since they are easier to handle and do not have as many negative behavioral traits as the males, especially during breeding season. I have a female axanthic blue who is 6 years old and is as friendly as could be. Thanks for the video!
Congratulations on your new friend it’s crazy cute, I find it amazing that they change colors so drastically. Iguana Land sounds like a magical place to visit with very knowledgeable staff, thank you so much for sharing and best wishes always ☺️
I loved them ALL...I don't have an albino iguana or an pied iguana...the rest I have several...plus a few...my rhinos and my bakeri are my absolute favorite..and we even had bakeri babies last year..that was awesome! I loved seeing them all!!!!
So happy to see this video. The iguana gets so much hate but they are an amazing lizard. I've had 2 and it was one of the best pet experiences I've ever had. It was hard to have them but for me well worth it.
There’s a lil iguana at the reptile room?! That’s amazing! Congrats Clint and thanks Ty! Very cool animals, and those rhinoceros iguanas are such impressive animals! Not for me, but amazing creatures none the less.
I just have to say, and I mean this in the best way, Clint you are the hybrid lovechild of; Newt Scamander, Mr. Rodgers, Steve Erwin, Jane Goodall, and Bob Ross... I don't know how *that* happened, though I bet it involved a story that started with "One day I was drinking..." and ended with "...and then I jumped into the portal.", but I am so glad that it did. I don't know if I will ever keep lizards (though Turtles are a real possibility) but I enjoy watching your videos regardless. Thank you for existing, and for you and the video crew and production team, making videos.
Congrats on your new edition!!! I chose my lizard the same way, he just let his legs just dangle, didn't run like his brothers and sisters. How's about Harlequin for the piebald's name, love iguanas Floridian here. Bananas are my favorite but piebalds are a close second. Looking forward to visiting Iguanaland.
Honestly I thought Desert Iguanas and Chuckwallas would of made it on the list but I know they aren’t true iguanas. Still awesome animals on the list though! 🦎🦎🦎
I love Ty! He's so generous with his friends. Clint how is your iguana doing? I don't recall seeing it in any videos besides, I somehow missed this one. That baby was like, aaahhhh thanks Ty, I needed a pillow, I am exhausted :)
Love your new pet iguana and love your videos they are so educational specially to kids am going to enjoy seeing him grow up a big tums UP to you and your team for making these amazing video's.
Thank you for explaining that just because you don't recommend a particular pet for the general public/first time owner/casual keeper doesn't mean they aren't awesome. We have the same thing in dog care. My favorite breeds of dog are so not for your average, casual dog owner, and even though I adore them, I don't currently have them because I'm not in a situation to give them the level of care they need. I've known far too many dogs who were rehomed or straight up neglected because their owners bought a multi-thousand dollar purebred puppy that they were so not prepared for.
In Mexico I rescued an adult spiny tailed iguana when I was in 4th grade. When my dad and I got it out from being starved and squished under a de-hinged door I grabbed it and was covered in scratches after being clawed and tail whipped. And I put it down and then it ran off on two legs.
There's both Similis & Pectinata in Mexico - both in wild form will tear you up (Similis moreso though lol). Pectinata are super cool when raised from babies & handled though. Similis run hot & cold lol.
