Great video. As a 66 year old who grew up in the macho culture of South Texas in the '60's-'70's it was harder to avoid fighting than it is now. That's why I learned to Box as a young man and still practice Boxing basics daily (along with Filipino blade training and empty hand martial arts). We used to roughhouse in the Marine Corps and some fights could get intense. As you said, "It's NOT worth it!!!!!". I'd also like to add that NOT only does a person need to be aware of their mouth but also avoiding looking at a lady and not sitting the hood of a car that doesn't belong to them. In my motorcycle riding days if someone sat on my motorcycle without permission it usually lead to a fight. If a person shows respect and is ready to apologize, they can usually avoid most fights. And your point about going "toe to toe" is another excellent point. It's amazing how much energy you use up when in a fight. That's why proper breathing is something that is taught to Boxing and Martial Arts students. Keep up the great videos my friend. Frank in North Texas.

Also take into consideration the legal aspects of encounters such as this. As I have said previously, you better have a large war chest to hire a good criminal defense if the local DA does not agree with your actions. Make sure the attorney that represents you will handle the appellate work if you are convicted, most do not, more money out of the pocket, a lot more for appellate work. If reversable error is found, that does not mean the defendant walks, you get a new trial, and more money goes into the pockets of the attorneys. Additionally, if you lose the criminal case the civil case will be a slam dunk, as the standard of evidence is much high in a criminal case. An excellent example of sometimes doing nothing is the best course of conduct is the Dunn case in Florida, he shot a shoplifter over a nearly worthless hatchet. Now he is convicted felon who will probably never be legally able to own a firearm or ammunition. Minding one's own business and keeping silent will eliminate a major portion of problems we may encounter in life. Rock on.

I believe that I was almost a victim of the "knock out" game at one time. I used to work shift-work and I was in the grocery store late at night and after checking out, I was exiting the store and heard someone running up from behind me. I turned to look and a young man ran past me and then began to laugh. I was quite sure that if I had not been aware of him running up to me, he would have tried to assault me by trying to knock me out. Fortunately, I have good situational awareness, and it would have ended badly for him if this youngster had made contact with me. Be alert of your surroundings and be prepared to react is my motto. I hope this helps someone else avoid being a victim.

I've been a fan of 411 Outdoors Channel for 2 years now. I appreciate the honest, blunt, and VERY USEFUL content! I appreciate your work and dedication my fellow SHEEP DOG! Hollywood sure has done a damn good job making fighting look glorious and fun... Even knife fighting, I think back to "Under Siege", they made a Gerber dagger and a butcher knife look like some sorta art, looking fun until Tommy Lee Jones got his eye gouged out..... I say all this to make clear there's a huge difference between Fantasy fighting and street fighting. It's NOT PRETTY what can and will happen in a street fight. It's not a stylish dance, that leaves you with a perfect little cut on your cheek, and wins the heart of the Girl of your dreams! It's UGLY and has the sensitivity of a Sherman TANK! Permanent damage is ALWAYS a possibility. Getting jumped, going to the ground and being STOMPED happens...(I carry a Cold Steel Hide out every day, it's a tough dagger under $30, best boot knife next to their Counter tac 2) I survived getting stomped via a 3" dagger, by the grace of God! Video games and movies sure do a great job at making violence look Glorious.... An admirable gesture that makes a"HERO" irresistible to the beautiful Girl. Don't fall victim to the system's Desensitization Ploys! First person shooting games can be a lot of fun, however keep in mind that the US Military has had a hand in the development of FPS games for Desensitization/Recruiting purposes. Movies were also heavy influenced by the US Military to fuel the Cold War... Just about every action movie from the 80s has a Russian villain.... Anyways I could use many other examples of reasons to be cautious of ROMANTICZING VIOLENCE... You are most likely going to get hard time in a state prison, than winning the heart of your Dream GIRL! 🤣 I know at the end of the day you gotta do what a decent SHEEP DOG is obligated morally to do.... Got a neighbor beating on his wife, SHEEP DOGS don't tolerate that unexcusable behavior. Sometimes it's the tiger or the tiger when forced to intervene in sticky situations... You gotta hit what's pitched to live with your conscious/Moral 🧭 compass. That's where your training is gonna be worth the time and effort! Thanks again 411 outdoors for another Relevant and important episode!!! From the perspective of a SHEEP DOG it's important to keep in mind that we have been Desensitized to violence on purpose.... Fabricated, fantasy fights are fun to watch, just can't forget that Reality is unfair, unforgiving, and very messy! God bless and be with all my fellow SHEEP DOGS🐾🖤✌️

Got up four times but still couldn’t see the punches, and kicks till it was too late. Dude kept screaming at me to stay down. I did enjoy it. After the first two shots I went numb. Probably the best martial art lesson I ever learned in this context. Pay attention, always.

Thanks for the video. My only story is really boring compared to all the ones you gave. I was taking a medication that caused my blood pressure to become too low. I stood up and couldn't maintain enough blood pressure to my head. I fainted and hit the floor hard. I woke forty-five minutes later with a huge bump on the back of my head. The ER couldn't find any fracture, but my skull has never returned to the proper shape. I had thrown up once while I was out and a couple of times just after waking. I also passed out on the porch and threw up again waiting for the ambulance. I don't remember the moments before I fainted, so I don't know whether there's something more I could have done at the time. When I feel lightheaded now, I try to get onto my hands and knees quickly so I won't fall far enough to be knocked out.

Hi, thanks for updating our minds! 👍 As for me, my childhood was in Lithuania under Soviet Union regime. So when I was 8-10 years old, walking on the streets was always with bullying from teens gangs. They asked for 10 cents and then tried to knock you down. It was horrible, because I was a peace loving boy with sense of harmony for surrounding. So my tactics was not to answer, to ignore it, and then run away. Most times I succeeded, but couple of times I was beaten down in my back and only then escaped. When I was 10 years old I watched Rambo, and somehow I saw myself in this character.... I started to pump my muscles, I started to learn boxing, grappling and kickboxing. Once I was pushed in a corner, so there was nothing other left for me than to swing with a hook my abuser and break through aggressive gang. In 1991 USSR fell and soviet army returned to Russia together with their families. Soviet officers took to Russia and their aggressive sons, that were raised in fascist and abusive families. So naturally, peaceful times began in Lithuania with much less street gangs and aggression. I have always felt my Guardian Angel beside me.🙏✝️ Wish long life to your channel, Bro! 🙏🙂

I didn't learn to fight untill I was 40 years old and I was the kid getting beat up in school but when I learned something about it I felt like I had to prove myself to see if the moves actually worked and I started winning some fights...but after proving myself..now I'm 71years old and I just want to live out my days peacefully with people and never fight again. I'm in north Central New Mexico and it's a dangerous city but it appears likes it's a lot more peaceful than back in the 1980s and the years2000to 2010. 1. I am not a stud, an MMA fighter or a stunt man. However, I was trained in OODALOOP. www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=oodaloop It is not a martial art. It is an approach to combat originally taught to US jet fighter pilots. 2. Yes to everything you said. 3. Get the opponent to talk and keep your mouth shut. A person can only do one thing at at time. If he talks, he cannot act. 4. OODALOOP classmate. Being heldup at gunpoint at a gas station, draws from concealed and kills the assailant on the spot. 5. You never should want to grapple. I always assume a potential opponent is going to kick my ass.

De-escalate, de-escalate, de-escalate! That’s all I can offer after 30+ years in psych social work. The calmer I am, the clearer I can think. As a 61 yr old woman, you can bet that I carry pepper spray; this especially after being punched by a random stranger on a street a year ago. I subscribed last video but did not comment in that video. I like the way you present your content and how you emphasize above all to avoid fights. I will share this one fairly recent experience. One time I was standing at a bus stop wearing sunglasses and was just staring off into the distance, but it was in the direction of a young Latino man sitting with his girlfriend on a low ledge. Suddenly he was practically in my face much to my surprise and very angrily asked me if I was looking at him. I just said, No. Then he asked me, Then are you looking at my girl?! I just said, No, I wasn´t, and he went away angrily. So I am very careful now where I might absently mindedly look, especially on a bus and especially if I am wearing sunglasses. I guess I was lucky that day. So perhaps it is good to be self aware and not inadvertently be staring in someoneś direction.

Great video! I think having a guard is preferable but not a deal breaker. If the handle has some texture or the shape invites a good grip ( think mora style) I don’t think a guard or at least a prominent guard is absolutely necessary. That said I think in this particular case because of handle shape a bit of guard would be good to have. Again great job!

Here are my tips on how not to get knocked out 1. Pick your fight wisely. Against someone who looks like he knows how to fight? Avoid. Most little kids, elderly people, and women are not real threats. If you can, be rich and live in a gated community. Go to church and go home only. Don’t hang around dangerous neighborhoods with a lot of gangsters. Don’t be poor or hang around impoverished neighborhoods. To be safer, always go around with your group of friends and to be able to run faster than at least one of them. 2. Can’t avoid conflict? Keep distance. Never stand in their striking range. This requires being aware of your surroundings, as someone from behind can close distance out of nowhere. Against a group or a person chasing you, you better be able to outrun them to keep that distance. 3. They keep coming for you? Protect your head or chin. Watch Canelo and Floyd Mayweather on defensive movements. Feet always moving and lots of head movements. If you aren’t fast enough to dodge, learn how to block strikes with your arms. If you can’t block, then you better be good at taking hits. 4. Know how to fight or be trained a bit, be fit. This goes with being able to take hits. You can also use your offense as defense. Take the preemptive strike before you become the victim. Sun Tzu or someone said the early bird gets the worms. Better them than you, but to be safe in the court of law, you do this in a self-defense manner, and not catch an assault case. Strike first and hard, only when you feel like you’re in imminent danger and you’re able explain that in court. 5. Own a firearm. They say fight fire with fire. No one is going to try to knock you out when you pull out a pistol. Again, do this in a safe and legal manner. Use good judgment, i.e, no need to pull out a pistol on kids and grandmas.

Take a security job to hone your awareness & get a good grasp of how it looks when it’s coming. On numerous occasions I could see the intention to “clock” me, both while walking and on the golf cart. They may be talking nice and ever so slowly closing distance, or not saying anything. The one guy casually grasped the cart upright for a little extra leverage, i kept the cart moving tho. The other, just calculated distance. Did I say the word “distance” enough?

I was born with a heart condition and if I were to defend myself, what could I use other than a firearm? I don't own a firearm yet but I have a push dagger.

Get off your Smart Phone! Street thugs know this an easy victim. Agree with Pods and Carmicael; situational awareness. / Change the environment. Thugs usually run in packs; go into a store, change metro cars, before they even start their sh/stuff. Don't put yourself out there as lunch meat to begin with! DC metro is mostly safe during working hours with professional workers. You take your chances a lot more in off peak hours. Don't be cheap; hire a taxi/uber if you're choosing a good meal/bar/band, and staying out late. "Can you give me dollar?" We all know the regular, "I'm homeless" hustlers at their same corners for decades. When some new hustler comes up, it can be a delicate situation; crackhead, street bum, drugged out, punk robber. Hopefully you have listened to this Great Instructor to learn options before getting knocked out.

Always thought that the side of the chin was the knockout point. So, a straight punch to the front of the chin can do it too? Thanks

I would also suggest- not that any viewers here would be guilty of it- NOT going about in public with ear buds / phones which pretty much destroy your situational awareness. I cringe when I see people, especially young women, going for a run with their earbuds in- totally oblivious to who or what is behind or coming up from a side. And the poor idiots I see walking around staring into their cell phone screens,,,, Darwin is waiting to meet them.

Many unfortunately. Most of it could’ve been avoided.

Mind your own business, keep your mouth shut and your eyes and ears open. Pretty much an eternal verity when it comes to survival in general.
