Five year old Yamaha P 37D vs brand new Yamaha P 37D 

The P37E got some poor reviews on melodicaworld. The sense I got was that it's not that different from the 37D and it didn't play as well. After reading there I haven't bothered with trying one myself. Yamaha vs Suzuki: I play them both the M-37C and P37D. You can have them both for what you would pay for one halfway decent guitar.

@@phlattgetit thanks!! Thats what i thought. Just remarketing but no real changes other than a muffled sound an aesthetics. I think im gonna get one or the other and then i might jump for a hammond (in the far future). As i said, my only real concern is the key feel because the yamaha just seems to sound more open and dynamic. Have you tried lubing it or something similar? I really have no idea how's the mechanism tho. Thanks again.

@@santiagoruiz2289 If you search on melodicaworld there is discussion of the P37E construction. As I remember there is a sort of graduated flange. You can find some videos or pics of melodicas unassembled. Just a spring and a pivot point really. Lubrication wouldn't help a lot.

You have to open it up and use a file to flatten or sharpen the offending reed. It's a laborious process. If you search here on RU-vid there are at least of couple of guides that go into an in-depth presentation. They are in much more detail than I ca go here.

Thats a scary thought. I’m not sure I could take it apart and do that. I wonder what causes them to go out of tune?

@@Iceland874 Bring it to an accordion maintenance shop. It's a quick and fast job for them. I've tuned reeds myself (on accordions not melodicas...but the principle is identical) I've done it right sometimes but not every time. It really is a skill, and someone without experience can damage reeds That's why I would bring it to a professional.
