Mr Beat and useful charts interviewed each other and mentioned that you were one of their favorite RU-vidrs! So, if you see sudden increase in subscriptions, that's the reason. (31 minutes into their video.)
Really interesting to hear your school problems, I was the same until I started podcasts and RU-vid. I also loved dressing up and have started to put an indiana Jones outfit together for my history videos 👍🏻 keep doing what you're doing
Philomena Cunk sent me! 😇😍 About 2 1/2 years ago was hooked Cunk On Britain series and discovered Catherine's "Cunk On Yorkshire" parody. Catherine's presentation and style tops Philomena for a fun, entertaining - certainly Factual details - crafting history videos. Congratulations on the first 5 years of history adventures and the great videos ahead!
as a Yorkshirian who is no longer living in god's own country, your video's always provide a bit of home comfort and a lot of entertainment, thanks for the amazing content.
History youtubers Mr. Beat and Useful Charts did a colab today and agreed that you are a favorite of theirs. I hope that mention brings you more subscribers (it's about 30 minutes into a video), because you clearly deserve them. Congratulations on 5 years!
All I'm saying is, '2017: The Lost Tapes' with your director commentary will go down a STORM one day on here. 😉 Genuinely, you're bloody brilliant, and I'm so happy to have crossed paths with you & to follow your progress and journey as a creator. Of course the earliest videos are gonna suck in hindsight, but I love that those early videos are still really fun and good to watch, knowing that you've also come on leaps and bounds since then. I really admire your spirit, your energy and relentless determination, your desire to improve and make this a success, and your boundless creativity. And there's NOTHING better than people loving your stuff even if its not their normal wheelhouse - shows youve done your job well! Honestly, there's a good reason one of my favourite videos on my channel is the one you appeared in. You're awesome, the sky is the limit & you deserve the world 😊
One of 3 or so YT video makers I've contributed to monetarily. I really enjoy the old episodes, and the singing (and at least one time someone advised that you not sing in the comments and your subsequent telling them off.. 😁). I also very much enjoy the new episdoes and direction! Your drive and enthusiasm for the subjects are evident and a make the story worth listening to - please do not ever change to subjects outside of your interest! Continuing creating & growing 🎉 🙂
Congratulations on the 5 years and the book! and its wonderful to hear that you are in better place now. Really enjoyed seeing how you have been able to grow and develop your style over the past years while still being as funny and informative. The - rats arriving in Britain in 1348 - meme is still one of my faves
Yaaaay! Happy anniversary, Catherine! :D I really love your videos, not only because you says about the history of Yorkshire (not only), they are interesting, but also - because of your accent :D As a foreigner - I could listen an audiobooks recorded by you :D Maybe it is a good idea? Best regards from Huddersfield, all the best! Keep going! :D
I think you are wonderfully talented and dashingly creative, Catherine. I confess: I miss the Yorkshire history though; I hope you haven't abandoned it completely. And, yes, you make an adorable Amy Johnson!
Suggestion. How about an April fools, subject the production of Yorkshire tea and growing your own in a greenhouse. Picking off the tea bags from the plant, in their skins. Some one is bound to fall for it. 😅😂
A'reyt Catherine. I only found your channel a couple of months back. I had been watching Scotland History Tours. Bruce, the channel's creator often replied to my comments with a question of whether there were local equivalents. I love your early stuff. I am never afraid to be from Yorkshire and play on it in comments, to give a sense of identity, but I get why you need to seek a wider audience. I have commented praise about your channel on other channels. My way of keeping interested in history was to paint wargames figures, whilst doing a science degree. I could not get a decent grant to go to Bradford and would have had to live at home, so I did not do the archeological science course there. This meant I crossed the Pennines, where the first person I met at university was Alok Sharma (I can be more than "ey up lad" anall). I used to watch "Yes Minister" and "Question Time" with him and did wonder "What if I had done Peace Studies?" Did you ever fancy a career in politics? I also joined the wargames club and learned to paint better, and found out the history of the armies, which was more interesting than the gaming. I sold off my early efforts, though buyers thought them decent and I got letters back saying so. Do not judge your younger self, we all have to learn. When I came home I enjoyed making costumes to go on New Year pub crawls, so your early efforts at that really made me smile. I too struggled to find a job as painting miniatures is something you need to be very good at to earn a wage. I did design a model village to go with a computer program for school kids to design a castle, but it was as something to put on my C.V. alongside watching Rugby League. I have watched all the videos you have on RU-vid and enjoyed them. To quote from Take That at the Royal Concert "Never Forget Where You're Coming From". As I am Bradfordian you will know I am from somewhere proud that folk fought against a previous Charles, but it does not stop me watching, on the excuse that it is history. Have you considered having two channels? One for history and one for fun about Yorkshire stuff. I love watching Benidorm Stuff channel with Lucy from Leeds. I went first to meet my girlfriend out there, thinking it would be awful and wanting to see Spain like in "As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning". You could use such a channel to sell the book? Good luck with that again. You might even consider history tours, like Bruce that I mentioned, from all that local knowledge? He has been doing shows down under recently.
You should not be embarrassed by your earlier videos as I think all of the ones I have so far seen have been fantastic. You can certainly see how your confidence has bloomed and your creativity has been a huge beneficiary of that. I've only really started watching over the past day or two but me and my lad have been binging your videos and really learning and enjoying them. The new and the old!
Hi Catherine 😊 great video , your style of delivery, and video content are a breath of fresh air, and yes the filming and editing has improved leaps and bounds. You certainly deserve alot more subscribers, and I whish you much success in the coming years, I look forward to seeing what historical delights you entertain us whith next. Best wishes to you and your's, Stuart UK.
I imagine that I am like 90 percent of your fans. We like your videos. We like them all. And frankly, we love watching you grow up. Please stop complaining about being a fascinating person with imperfections. You're probably one of the best RU-vidrs we know, and have been since we first "met.".
For my money, your channel and AtunShei's are the best history on youtube for the sheer creative storytelling. I dont think Ive seen a bad vid from either of you, and I always look forward to seeing your new content.
Your a smashing young lady (I was going to say 'lass' but I changed my mind). Your a great presenter and I've found all your videos have their own merits. Carry on doing what you do. I hope your channel grows because you deserve it. Best of luck from Cannock Chase in Staffordshire x.
I've always loved the DIY aspect of your videos and, as much as the Yorkshire stuff was and is fascinating, branching out has been really good for your content imo. My wife's a massive Ruth Goodman fan (as am I)- and we reckon you'll get a similar profile eventually! Cheers for all the laughs and info!
Happy anniversary, Catherine! Congratulations! *None* of your videos are bad! How could they be, with a wonderful, lively Yorkshire lass in them! Oh, and I *love* your Yorkshire accent - it's *wonderful!* Have you done a video on the Yorkshire accent/dialect? I can't remember. Very best wishes for the next few years (and only four months until "Talk like a Pirate Day"...... ;) )
Happy anniversary, Well done! I enjoy your videos for the history and fun you bring to your presentations - you bring history alive with your dress and performance - I now know where Yorkshire is and why I should know about it - thank you!
You remind me a bit of Maddie Ross, the fictional heroine in "True Grit." Not in the actions undertaken , but in your determination to pursue a dream and succeed in it. That's an essential quality for happiness and success in life, however outré your chosen path may seem to others. In your case I think RU-vid is a perfect fit. You're a natural "presenter," in the best sense of the word, because your viewers KNOW you know what you're talking about. All the best. Brian.
Congratulations on 5 years on RU-vid, I remember the first video you watch the Middleton Railway which really impressed me being honest. But do hope the next 5 years are even better
OH, I think i did see one of your early videos and thought it was great. So glad you stuck around and did more. Good luck with your future. I wouldnt be surprised if you get a deal one day with one of the TV companies. Kids need to see your stuff
~Grateful you did start, I understand the love of history, the greatest stories happen in real life, been watching from/since almost day one, don't overthink or beat yourself up for your earlier work, it's what you said and the feel of it, not which font you used or tremendous edit, if you build it...they will come, 🍺Cheers To Future Works, And⚘Always a Fan
Thankyou - I really enjoy you videos, and although I subscribe, this video made me realise I have missed some of the recent ones. I have also being trying to pinpoint your accent, and you said it was Leeds :) I am from Huddersfield and yours is close enough :) Castle Hill is in our eyeline every day!
Good for you Cathrine really honest not like these tick-tock clowns messing and using other people just to get like’s.Keep up the good work.Could you possibly send your earlier works what you deleted?keep up the good work 👍👍👍
I too enjoy all your videos, but the problem ifind with youtube is the very uneven audience response which seems to stem from the very uneven way youtube, or at least its algorithms, promote and demote content. I do a weekly vlog called “my week this week” . My my videos get hugely different viewer numbers from week to week which seem entirely independant of the quality or content, indeed, some weeks i get 6 to 8 hundred views for what i consider to be fairly mediocre content, whereas more interesting content seems to get ignored with only 150 views in a week! You cannot judge your success on audience views alone, but thumbnail pic and compelling title seem to make a huge difference! I have 736 subs after 2 years but get about half the channel views i used to get! I honestly think that youtube throttle creators success to match their advertising income to the amount they pay to content creators! Phil
Your earliest videos are the very reason I'm here. They're not embarrassing: they are an absolute joy to watch. It's been huge fun to watch you grow and expand to the excellent videos you produce now.
❤bluddy brilliant. Success and fulfilment can never be measured by burger-chomp viewings: they're false validations. Aaand involve ZERO talent. You are seriously the opposite of that zero talent. Your skillset and gifts will take you wherever YOU want and need to be. Do you. It's great, and soak it up.🎉❤
Maybe your future is in filmmaking? UK has a big film industry. Why not try and send them your videos as examples of your creativity and effort? It is not a normal job or a 9/5 and you would be doing what you enjoy.
