That's so sad. My heater was broken for a couple of days in the winter and I tried to use the oven for heat. It did not work at all. She must have been so cold.
That looks a LOT like the foreclosed home we bought...listed for $215,000...we got it for $156,000. They paid closing and repaired the furnace. It was a crapload of work and I don't care if I EVER eat pizza again but we did it together, just like we built our 1967 Pontiac LeMans from the ground up together...won't ever do it again but it was fun, annoying, exhausting, irritating, giggle inducing, relationship building and we own a beautiful car and a beautiful home and built and amazing, enduring relationship.
Did you haul the usable furniture, appliances, tv etc to the front and put up a sign that said "Free, take it" ? Or did you sell it on craigslist? Could have made a nice chunk of money.
Mark Ferguson - InvestFourMore ya cant really tell the size (also if the second garage is attached to the first) and dont know the area. but a small rental back house either a 1 bedroom or studio apartment may raise the value alot or could rent out both but i dont know if your still doing rentals? i just bought a property near the beach in nj front is a 3 bedroom and has an old carriage house 2 story in the back that had gas, sewer and electric. someone had it a studio apartment upstairs and dont know what downstairs half done garage lol was in real bad shape had to do a complete gut made it into a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath raised property value alot but even better the 2 bedroom rent is really high in the area.
Steve sims ...we call it a "mother in law" apartment here...raises the value more than a rental would. Even an AirNub would be better than a ling term rental.
