FIX AND RESTORE OLD WWII BRITISH MILITARY MACHETE

The machete, a WW2 British Military Model, from Sheffield, England, was deep pitted with rust and had a broken handle, at the end I could not rely on hand work alone to remove the pits and resorted to using a sander, but the remainder of the work was completed by hand especially the carved handle. It still needs work but its far better than I started with.
DISCLAIMER: I am not an expert in this trade, I did however wear the proper ppe and safety gear, gloves, glasses, face shield, etc. during restoration, just not for film part to show you what I was doing. Please exercise safety and seek advice on projects of your own.
If you like the reveal and watched the full video, please let me know by a hit the thumbs up and comment your encouragements.
I am pleased with the result, even though the blade is not as smooth as a laser clean you often see. I truly enjoyed learning the process, working with my hands, troubleshooting and creating, and would love to do another knife sometime.
Once I have my workshop built and vice and tools in place I will buff the blade again for that shine. I live so remote that the nearest hardware did not have any brass or silver rod for the peening process so I adapted the best I could with making a similar loveless style bolt attachment.
This was my first attempt at restoring a piece of bushcraft equipment I intend to use.

I am pleased I learned so much and enjoyed the challenges. I got up the nerve to try my dremel a few minutes tonight, and wow I love it, made a small spirit stickman and a talking stick. Its also fun understanding diff wood properties and how it carves..loving it Thank you Howard. The partial kit came from a late Navy man who retired from rock drilling years ago and he would be happy I am taking up the hobby. Take care.
