Great idea for bushing repairs since being able to source proper size bushings for these Chinese ATV's is almost impossible. You can find bushings with the proper inside diameter but normally the outside diameter or the overall length is not what you need. Tried this out and found it works great just needed to clean out all the old rubber using a Dremel grinder with sanding wheel attached then inserted the Neoprene rubber strip like you showed. Found the easiest way to install the inside steel sleeve was to apply some oil to the outside of the sleeve and use an old socket same outside diameter and the inside sleeve and hammer it in until flush. I also left the rubber strip wider than what I needed so after driving in the inner sleeve flush I just cut off any excess rubber on either side of the bushing until flush. Works great and the machine is back on the road again.

All you have to do is take a measurement of the dementions and search those measurements for that size bushing. I found hundreds of US sites that have them. I replaced mine with bearings.

@@BubbaB43 Thanks Buggy but at the time we did search the Internet and there was nothing available in Canada. Being a 1 to 2 day repair and service company we want to move things out asap and the customer was extremely happy and tipped us a $20

Great vid. Love the simple idea, no mess and gets the job done. You can use pl premium to make stiff bushings. By cleaning and filling between the two metal rings. Messy but works. For a more legit way you can actually get pour in polyurethane of different stiffness from several places on the internet, if you want a bushing like the name brands.

Thanks for the tips. Just purchased a second hand China Quad a week ago, and it needs new front bushings. Going to give this method a try. Thanks !

It works better than most people would think, sometimes parts for these machines can be hard to find because they're built to be replaced instead of fixed... Thanks for watching!

Vernon Hastings was very hard to show as when the bushings are out, the rubber wants to pop out, so pause at 6:39 and you get an idea of what it looks like, you can see the rubber forced into the bushing!

u didnt actually show how to fit the rubber into the bushing... u shouldnt be making videos, ur wasting people's time.

You could get replacement heims joints at hardware store and they'd last longer.

Right but these are a metric size so I'd still have to modify them to fit.

What about round hdpe and drill the local store here has those brass bushings 5 to 10 a piece cheaper on ebay though.

What did you do with the bronze bushings? That's where all my slop is
@EliminatorPerformance
@EliminatorPerformance 5 лет назад
The "play" in this one was all in those rubber bushings mainly, so we left the bronze ones I believe. You might be able to get a part number if you Google China atv bronze bushing

What was the thickness of the rubber sheet you used?

I'm not too sure, I believe 1/8" but I could be wrong

Can I use a blown-up tire inner tube instead? It's pretty much the same.
@EliminatorPerformance
@EliminatorPerformance 6 лет назад
I don't see why not, but the industrial rubber is a bit more firm than an inner tube
@kenshinflyer
@kenshinflyer 6 лет назад
Of course, I would really go for industrial rubber, but here in the Philippines I haven't come across it yet--though I can get scrap inner tubes at the local tire shop for free. It's really hard to find parts for my ATV here (it's a pain to order online), so tips like the one you said are a huge help.

Nice way to make your atv into a ticking timebomb. These bushings are made with vulcanizing the rubber onto/into the metal cases. That is a pretty firm bond. You just put a piece of rubber in, which is pretty much free to move around and after a lot of vibrations it will move out of place or simply fall out. If you really want to cheapass this repair, at least add some windowseal or similar ellastic adhesive to the sides of your rubber roll and install it that way. Not that with all those bushings costing maximum 100$ total you'll ever need a cheaper way to repair.

I knocked mine out and replaced the bushings with sealed bearings, it cost around $50 to replace all them.

Kind of lol these bushings were hard to find, I ended up measuring them and eBay ones were all different. They're still in there today and holding up believe it or not
