holy smokes, I can finally see my desktop icons again! Thank you so much for this video! I changed my display scaling and for some reason it adjusted my icon spacing. Following your steps, my icon space and vertical icon spacing was at -576000! No wonder all my icons disappeared. I changed it to the default value, -1125, and now I can finally see my desktop icons again! Thank you!! This video is valuable
So thankful for your resolution and easy to follow directions. This solved my problem when none of the other "fixes" would. Not sure what prompted the issue, but you can bet your buns I'm keeping it handy for others! Well done, TroubleChute. :)
Thanks! This happens when you go to ease of access centre -> set bigger text. There is a slider, the first time you slide, the font becomes bigger,. then you typically close the menu. But when you access this menu again and move the slider to make the font size even bigger, then the icons horizontal spacing goes nuts. I wanted to reinstall the system to get things back under control, thanks for the vid it helped.
you described what happened to me exactly. when i got the laptop i set bigger fonts, then a year later i wanted to make changes to the font size once more and chaos ensued.
This helped me heaps! My icons stayed large after I adjusted the text size in display setting, they would stay the same and not revert after I changed the text small again!!!! Thanks mate
This happened after I connected my computer to a TV and changed the resolution for better viewing on the TV. I tried reading different Q & A forums but your video was the easiest. Thanks.
Thank you very much. I just updated my laptop after not using it for about a year, and after the update, this happened. I looked everywhere for a solution, but nothing, then I found this fantastic video of yours, many thanks. Keep up the great work.
I downloaded a cracked version of gta iv, and after going through the installment steps this bug appeared, as soon as i saw it, I stopped the installment of the game and deleted the setup and the extracted files, I tried several solutions I found on the windows official help page but nothing worked, thankfully your method worked :D continue making these videos, you're helping so much!
omg i struggled for A YEAR!!!! and i didn't even realize that it was the spacing. mine was changed to -18,000 and I could only see 1 icon per screen so I thought they're just gone. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Thank you so much, just like you said it happened absolutely out of the blue, I looked for a solution for hours, I was about to go crazy until I saw this. Worked like a charm. Cheers.
That worked thank you!! I have another issue though. The icons won’t move to the bottom of the screen. It’s like there’s an invisible block that only lets me use either the top or middle of the screen for icons. So now they’re sitting two by two when I’d like them all in a straight vertical row.
OMG! Thank You thank you thank you . I’ve no idea what’s going on on my screen as I saw an icon on my entire display . I’ve been in trouble for 1 week . Thank you you r my lifesaver
THANK YOU for this. It was driving me nuts, mine were even wider and stacked on top of each other. All the fixes online mentioned the control panel, and I'm looking through windows 10 -- there isn't one. Thank you thank you thank you
Thank you for the resolution man, i think this happen because of resizing the font setting. This happened to me too because of that. The funny thing is even the the moderator in microsoft community didnt know how to fix this.
Thanks a lot!!! It happened on my new win 11 laptop. (Didnt happened before on my win10 desktop). I was trying to fix it for an hour and was thinking it's an win11 issue. Your video saved me thanks!!!
thank you! So many people who don't know what causes this, tell you to go round and round and do this and do that and try this and try that.. and do something else that you already know about..ie "right click on desktop and select medium or small or large icon" DUH I already tried that.. And they never have the answer! haha But anyway, I was just changing the font sizes and the resizing of the entire desktop to 100% and 125% and then changing the resolution 1900x1200 to 1680x1080 or something like that, and BAM, my icons mysteriously got wide! Just like you said: "WHO KNOWS!" Crazy Microsoft. Windows 7 is still more solid OS than Windows 10. haha
Seems to be a multiple screen issue with different resolutions , since yesterday I keep getting issues with my pc and litteraly want to hit my head on the desk. Everything began with my Nvme not being recognised and erasong all of my pc , then formatting everything takibg alot of my time plus this ... .
You are a time saver thanks! Is there a way to fix this symbols to its place so they do not randomly roam arround when you change your display to your second Screen with WindowButtom+P ?
ever since i swapped from Mac to Winsows i only get bugs and "oopsies" from some automated system changing some stupid user-hostile features. Ik who works at indows but a braindead ape would put those options and everything in the settings-display part and not go into some root files and search for a solution.
More Power sir, saves me a possible trouble with my boss.. thank you so much.. i just change the computer themes and then suddenly the icon distance's changed..
