These videos are very high quality, it’s crazy that you don’t have more subs. Keep up the good work! It really helps struggling producers like myself 😅
One other thing that works well is to use a tape emulation plugin. Harsh guitars weren't really a problem until the digital age. By using a tape plugin, you get some of the high end taming and transient shaving that used to happen with analogue gear. I like Softube Tape for this, but really any one will work.
Thank you for doing this video. I dont know if you remember but with your recommendation, I went and bought the DT 770s and this video along with the previous mix walkthrough you did helps me a ton with knowing the sound profile of these cans. Still not used to it but I am getting there.
@@spinlightstudios It is definitely way better than my M50x. I am having trouble with the lows and highs especially because I am so used to M50x's hyped signature. Been burning it in for 2 weeks using my favorite songs so I am getting there.
That sounded so much wider and open when you engaged the SSL. Could you explain how these guitar tracks are recorded in stereo? Was this quad tracked ?
Just stereo tracked! The artist sent them bounced as stereo tracks with the panning already done, some people prefer to send tracks that are panned the way they like them, I just roll with what’s given to me :)
Thank you very much for this video, it's exactly what I was looking for. One question, exactly what model of Bx console Ssl is this plugin? Thank you and congratulations again!
i would really apreciate a tutorial on vocal mixing for at home studios... people who have very minimum equipment... just a mic with pop filter, headphones, a mixer and small studio speakers
wow! when you activate the ssl eq, the stereo image opens up a lot! ussualy I find it difficult to open my guitars, even when panning them hard L/R, so.. eq was the problem.. (I apologize for my poor English)
in mine. when i finish fixing harshness in top end. the low mud in 400hz below starts to pop up. it seems the annoying frequency is playing with me. how to fix this please reply thank you!
I guess it’s all dependent on the source material, if it’s sounding muddy, you might have cut it too much, or you might need to cut a little bit of that mud at the same time. The best thing you can do is get the level right in the mix and if it still feels harsh just cut a small amount in the context of the mix.
There is not one way to do things. Saying the guitar should be lower in volume is an opinion. It all depends what you want in the end, which will vary from person to person.
