This WORKS!!!! THANK-YOU!!! We have tried underwater flex seal, gorilla products , nothing stopped the leak, it just got worse. We used the shoe goo and a tarp patch and no more leak!!! So thankful I watched your repair!!! We had to patch an intex pool ring. And the wd-40 did an awesome job removing the gobs of flex seal glue left over from taking the tape off. And bonus- no damage to the pool ring!
This is the video that keeps on giving! All my wife did this whole week was tell everyone how she was going to sit in the back yard in her inflatable pool and relax. Well, I got the pool out of the garage and caught it on the wood fence and tore a hole about the size of a single piece of cooked rice. ARGH! I got the Shoe Goo from CVS and Duct Tape from the dollar store and went to work. The hole kept bubbling and blowing a hole in the goo and I had no tarp. So I glopped it on and shoved it into to hole and slapped the tape on and glopped the goo all over that and another piece of tape and more goo! I was desperate, you see. But in the end, SAVED! It freakin worked!! Thanks so much man. My marriage is preserved!!!
Up to 1:38 your impression is "ya, great I bet it peels off in the sun." And then you get the glory tour of how awesome the repair has been in other locations for the last SEVEN YEARS. Awesome video demo! Ha ha!
I just want to thank you for saving my pool and summer. I have one of those pools with the inflatable ring... I also have a new black lab puppy. Needless to say, puppy punctured the ring and splash... pool water gone. I tried the flex-tape, not once, twice but three times. Worked great until sun beat down on it and the adhesive "melted" and splash again. I watched your video and went out and got the Shoe-goo. I did 3 layers (just to be on safe side) over 3 days (with it deflated). Well, it's been about a week now, with hot NC sun beating down on it and it is holding up wonderfully! THANK YOU!!!!!!
This was an amazing tip. Im not sure why this has any thumbs down. . I fixed a leak in my pool under water, fixed several leaking tubes, repaired a leaking air mattress. Great idea
You.have.saved.my.LIFE! I tried everything! Gorilla tape worked for a while but melted in 90+ heat. Gorilla glue, rubber cement, bike patches ALL failed. The piece of tarp and shoe goo worked instantly, I'm currently filling up my patched up pool and about jump in! Thank you SOOOO much!!!
Omg, thank you so much. I don't know why I didn't check RU-vid years ago. I have been throwing out and replacing inflatable pools for years because the repair patches that they recommend are useless. After unpacking last years pool and finding a tiny hole I was about to throw it out when I thought someone out in the world must have a solution. It was quite challenging to find this product in Australia, but once I did the miracle happened. Thank you once again!
I have a tube of this stuff that I bought a year ago, trying to save a pair of my favorite sandals. I never used it, but I’m glad to have come across this video in a google search. I will be using this technique to repair a hole in my sons blow up tub. Thank you for this awesome share!!!
Watched the video and bought a tube directly after. Thank you!!! Excellent video with great examples!!! I hope SHOE GOO knows they have an excellent salesman my friend!!! Enjoy your summer!!!
The best repair video I’ve watched , ours has a tear on the underside seam of the inflatable ring, I’m gonna try this soon as I can buy a tube and let you know , fingers crossed 🤞
I have this same pool, just bought it, and last night a raccoon decided to bathe, drink, and then tear up the sides of it. I'm hopeful these techniques will restore it. Thanks for a great, insightful video!
Hey, just wanted to give out a huge thank you! Shoe Goo, who would of knew?!?! Adding this to Our garage arsenal of products for all future repairs and needs. Thank You!
DUDE ! This stuff is outstanding! Damn I’m so so glad I stoped at yr video the other day ! It come today from Amazon. I’ve brought back to life 3 air mattress, play ball for my horse , grandchildren’s blow up Dino sprinkler , blow up pool , damn thanks a million!
Used an old tube of e6000 on our lake towables and it worked like a charm. Dabbed some, spread with wet thumb, put a piece of duck tape over, then sealed that with more. Let sit for 3 days, then used them on the lake all week and it held perfect. Thank you!!
Thank you so much from both me and my pool! I've kept shoes and sandals alive for years using Shoe Goo, it's awesome stuff. But I never even considered it for pool repair. That's brilliant!
Best video I've seen yet on how to patch an inflatable pool! I have a few follow-up questions: 1) How long do you let the Shoe Goo dry (cure) before filling the pool up with water? 2) Do you always put a piece of duct tape over the Shoe Goo after covering the hole?--and how long do you leave the tape on before removing it? 3) I have a hole on the bottom outside of the pool, where the most pressure builds up once the pool is filled. I may need to use a patch (with Shoe Goo covering it once applied) to withstand the pressure, as other patches I've tried have not held. Can I use any type of material for a patch?--say, a bike tire patch, piece of rubber, etc?--or is a piece of tarp the best material to use? Thanks
NTL Riovision On a small pool like this I usually will fill it right away without letting it cure. I do generally put tape temporarily over the repair just to allow the Shoe Goo to set up undisturbed. I used duct tape in the video but I actually prefer masking tape. I will remove the tape in about 8-12 hours or the following day. Tarp works better than rubber as the tarp won't stretch like the rubber does. Rubber flexes to much and can be pulled off of Shoe Goo.
sixtyfiveford Thanks for the answer. Actually, my kids pool is almost exactly like the one in your video, except it has 3 rings from top to bottom. So, seeing your video gave me hope it could be done on mine. Yesterday I used rubber glue with bike patches to patch the bottom of my pool and so far it has held up against the pressure of having water in it (something the previous patches I've used haven't done). However, this morning it appears that the 2 top rings now have holes in them (kind of funny how out of the blue the 2 top rings would spring leaks right after repairing the bottom ring...maybe our neighbors cat did it trying to drink water from the pool...which she's done before). 1) Should all repairs be made while the pool is inflated? 2) Is it OK to repair leaks while there is still water in the pool?--if the area being repaired is dry? 3) When you put Shoe Goo directly on the pool and then put a patch over that (using tarp), and then you put more Shoe Goo on top of the tarp and surrounding area; do you wait between Shoe Goo applications?--or do you put the 2nd coat of Shoe Goo (that goes over the tarp and surrounding area) immediately after the first Shoe Goo application, without waiting 8-12 hours? Thanks again!
Inflated or deflated it doesn't matter. Yeah as long as the area is dry your fine to patch it. Only on a large hole do I use tarp. I apply glue to both sides without waiting for anything to set up.
So i put my pool up today and after filling it I noticed a small leak near the bottom. Tried shoe goo with no results, pressure was to much. Then thought about what you said about using part of a tarp. Slathered a piece with shoe goo went from the other side (inside) and the pressure caused the hole to seal. Great stuff, who needs a $20 underwater patch kit. Thanks.
I like that it is usable right away. The air mattress repair kits say wait 24 hours. I may not have a inflatable pool... but I do have a few air mattresses on hand.
2nd year, I was going to throw another &$*# pool in the trash and buy a new one again BUT I’m gaining this time! Bought Shoe Goo instead and got 2 holes yesterday, still losing a little air somewhere. (Little weekend project) so happy you put this video out. My granddaughter may actually get to use this pool again and saves me money. Plus getting a tube to keep in the camper! Thank you!
I watched your video this morning at 10am. My girlfriend was going to leave me because I couldn’t get it up, the pool that is. I repaired it following your directions using goo gone. Now the pool is fully erect and filling with water at 2pm. You saved my relationship, my pool and my summer. Thank you!!!!
Shoe Goo, Aqua Seal, Sta Bond... there are a bunch of good ones that will work well. But 8 years later, and technology has advanced! Now Tear Aid tape is available, and that stuff is amazing :)
Can you tape and use the pool instantly if you're patching a hole on the bottom, too? Or only on the sides? Wait a couple days on bottom? It's hot, "kid" want to use the pool !
yep.. shoe goo... or plumbers goop....or,there's couple other kinds of goop... sold at home depot around here..but i've seen it other stores.. the big tube is like $4.00... i used it on my rain water collection tanks.. like 8 years ago.. still holding.. i also found this other stuff-called "seal all"..yellow tube.. walmart-automotive dept.... this stuff is gas/petrolium safe.. fix gas tanks..bonds everything to anything... i used it to seal my tool handles.. like lineman's pliers.. to make em electrically safe...its another really helpful product.
thanks for sharing your know how, i have never used this stuff but i just fixed my sons pool with it and nothing else i tried could patch that thing so iam allways keeping some around now love how it gets drying fast.
You're the man. Beem looming everywhere for this info I bought rubber cement, contact cement, gorilla glue contractor glue, flex seal, and flex seal tape...the flex seal tape seams to be working alright for now but I've been afraid to put any or the other stuff on and doing more damage than repair.
Dude! This is the single most important video on RU-vid! I really wish I could send you 20, no, 1000 dollars right now. I was suffering through tons of diy solutions to our leaking pool here at the end of summer. Mostly all good, reasonable ideas. Nothing worked 100% but, you know, I was resigned to fussing with this leak till the end. My pain was less than everybody’s general happiness. I happened to have shoe goo hanging around from a 2014 issue with my wife paddock boots. Sure enough, it was till good. I slathered it on to our little leak and problem solved! I especially like the extra tip on how to deal with larger holes. Truly, If I could send you some cash for this tip I totally would! We’ve been enjoying our end-of-season pool for the entire weekend. 2019! F-ing magic! Thanks again. JBB
I got some shoe goo and used on a queen size air mattress the top felt side where your suppose to sand paper until you get to the vinyl. No need simply cleaned with some alcohol let dry a minute applied shoo goo while it was semi inflated smoothed with the back of a plastic knife .Let it sit a spell.Inlated properly and done. Thanks for the vid!!No throwing away air mattresses any more.Although I use cots and self inflating mats 90% of the time. When family camping with spouse queen air mattress is still a must.
Excellent! Thanks! I have a 4000 gallon pool I use as a ram pump reservoir... and it has a leak this spring... was NOT into spending $200 again on a pool... Thanks!
Thank you, this video has saved my butt on so many inflatables it's not even funny. Actually, I've only used it on a shoe once, and that was about 5 inflatables later haha. I'd like to add for the others, don't get lazy like me and over inflate to locate a leak then try to plug it with that higher pressure, it will make a bubble through the Shoe goo and make the patch ineffective, duct tape or not. Also, I've had 50/50 success in immediate use after patching, which still says a lot about how impressive it is. If you wait 2 days it will be as cured as the older patches in the video. Even used it on a 2 inch diameter hole on a bouncy castle, using the tarp example, now it's stronger than the original material!
this is a great idea. btw this video is great quality. did you get a new camera or is the lighting/sound just happen to be great? i wonder if i could coat the inside of a tire with shoogoo to seal it.
I haven't done a video outside in a while so the natural lighting helps. Same camera I've had for a year or so. Yes, I have repaired split tires on riding mowers and similar with Shoe Goo.
. I used to have an 8' Zodiac for work. Patched a hole with shoe goop and it lasted for over 5 years till we got rid of the boat. I'm sold on the stuff. I have some of the marine goo in my tool kit I've used to repair tarps .etc. The marine goop might be a better choice for outdoor use because of it's built in UV Resistence. To smooth it out and layer it, I found gaff tape works the best because it does not leave any residue.
Yeah goop is labeled under a bunch of different categories but I think it's all the same stuff. E6000 is supposedly UV to resistant as well but, plumbing goop, marine goop, household goop, shoe goo, etc I'll seem like they're exactly the same with all the exact same properties. It's all made by the same company so it makes sense they would just make one product and label it out there to different markets
Do NOT deflate the pool to patch it...seems like a good idea....but it failed when I did this...that is because when you re-inflate the pool or waterbed it stretches and the patch then leaks....do it just like the video shows with the pool or waterbed inflated !!!
So, you saying you can't ever deflat the pool again? What if you want to deflat the pool for the winter and then inflat for the summer. will you keep having to glue it?
Shoe Goo!! Who knew it could repair holes in the inflatable pool!! Planning to invest in a tube just in case!! 😁😁 Wonderful video and its on my playlist!! ☺
Thanks for the great Idea. I just fix my son inflatable boat. It still holding after a weekend of rough abuse. I dab the area first let it dry then put a canvas patch with the Goo.
I have the same pool and it has a 1/8 inch hole on the top. I sealed it with a small piece of duct tape until I could find a more permanent solution. This is great! I hope I can find this product locally. Thanks for the info!
Good common sense how to - I especially like the example repairs and how long they lasted. I've used shoe goo for building up the soles of running shoes - sorta works but is abraded eventually by the road. My question is, "can I use shoe goo to build a) a vinyl pool with 1/4 - 1/2 inch seams and b) an inflatable nylon/vinyl lawn ornament? Tkx for your help.
Wow! I have three sleeping mats that have been sitting around because everything I have tried did not work. I am going to give this a try. Thanks again. Peace, Mo
sixtyfiveford I will let you know how it works. They have been a thorn in my side just laying there in the way not knowing what to do with them. They get expensive and do not want to just throw them away. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with others. Peace, Mo
Is there different types of This stuff. As I saw the video yesterday and bought some for £12 U.K. pounds and it’s not turning to rubber it’s staying runny.
I had to repair my golf shoes last year with shoe goo. I had the glue left over and tried it on a blow floating air mattress. I works, its holding. One thing I learned tho, have it deflated 1st. I tried inflated and it blew bubbles. Thanks
The E6800 is amazing. Basically the same thing as Shoe Goo just UV rated. I have a link in the video description as it's not the easiest to find locally.
Good idea. I have thrown out kid pools because the typical repair kits suck. I will give this a try. u have great how to videos bro. Keep them coming. Have u done one how to repair a tear in vinyl seat, like an ATV seat? I've seen kits that match the color of the vinyl with the kit. They usually require melting a patch or something on or over the tear. I have a small hole in my Yamaha seat but want a clean repair instead of a notable glue lump. Lol. Any suggestions?
I use Marine Goop, it looks like a similar fix but I wonder if this product does better over time as Marine Goop doesn't seem to like our Canadian winter.
Thanks for the glue tip! It saved me a lot of aggravation. I tired fixing my kids pool with just tape and it would work until it didn’t. I just did shoe glue+patches+tape and so far so good. Sick of buying these things! They always have holes after winter storage, no matter what. No idea how they appear. Will E600 glue work also?
do you have to let it sit for 12hrs with a brick over the patch like other pool repair products? I have a dime size hole in the inflatable ring around my dough boy and I would like to fill it asap
I have used this stuff for years to fix stuff like that and used to use it on my wet suits and dry suits when I would get a hole or a seam would start leaking. Just bought a tube about three weeks ago to repair hole in the liner of my mother in laws pool, and it is still holding better than the stuff made for pools.
I will have to try that on my rubber boots, working in all kinds of work areas I get pieces of glass and nails in the boots which cause them to leak when working in puddles of water and then the boots are worthless for that type of work. I will buy some of this stuff and try it on the rubber boots and hope it makes them last longer. Thank You for the great video.
Does this work for bigger holes? I have one in an inflatable water trampoline that is about an inch and a half long. Also, does work well to use a patch on top of the shoe goo? Basically, using the shoe goo in place of rubber cement?
I have used it to repair my pull behind boat inflatables on a few occasions. For a heavy duty application like this I would put a piece of tarp or similar over the top of the repair to reinforce it.
Walmart sell show glue too. Another product I find at Home Depot is 3m 5200 fast cure it's a white sealant that sticks to almost anything and is very tacky and strong but I find after one use the material cures in the open tube even after securely capping.
Yeah, I've used the 3m stuff and I don't like how it hardens inside the tube. The Shoe Goo in the video was opened Feb of 2013(I write dates on everything) and it is still good.
Love this idea! Just bought an inflatable pool and there are quite a few little holes. Do you have another video to help you detect the location of the hole?
I want to fix an inflatable waterslide that uses an air blower to keep it inflated. Will this work? After the repair is made, can I deflate it or does it only work if it stays inflated?
Hey 65, do you think that shoe goo type adhesives will stand up to gasoline? I have a plastic gas can with a short split in it and hate to throw it out. What do you think?
Never mind, I just read down the comments and p.e.i mentioned a product that may help. I am going to try the Kiwi Sport and Shoe Patch I have anyways, it will be interesting to see. Thanks
i have the same pool, this video is verg helpful.i will try it out today. however, you did not show on the video if youll take out the duck tape after it dried out.
I just did this to a pool like yours but it bubbled up and air was leaking. What am I doing wrong? I also put some duct tape on top and more goo on top of that. How long does it take to dry?
It takes a 6-12 hours depending on temp for it to fully cure. You can let some air out so it's not pressing so hard on the glue. The tape over the glue is simply there to keep it from forming a large bubble and is removed after. This is only if you have a pencil size hole. If you have a gash you may need to deflate the pool and let the glue set overnight.
Thanks, great tip... any tips on finding the leak... we have almost the exact same pool and I've tried everything I know to find the leak (rubbing hand over all surfaces, listening for leak, soapy water, filling the pool and looking for air bubbles, etc). thanks!
Darren Bennett Kids! I had the hardest time finding all the leaks as it was dragged across the pavement and had at least a dozen pin holes. I had the kids running around and they found a few that I couldn't. You can partially inflate it and dunk it in the bathtube to look for bubbles as well(not the easiest).
Darren Bennett Hi ,a good way to find those small leaks is at night,in the dark.I discovered this by accident when I had a leaky pool and wouldn't give up till darkness came and had to use a flashlight, and discovered that if you put the beam of the flashlight in the inflated tube, the lube kind of lights up from the inside, and than you can see those tiny pinholes, and fix them.
I have tried shoe goo on my inflatable kayak and it does work when you let the goo sit over night before applying pressure. My question is; can you fold up you inflatable pool with all the repairs on it?
Great tip.Did your tube of glue get hard after you opened it? if not, that makes it worth buying just for that. I have had a lot of experience trying to find glues that will stick to polyethylene and the only thing I found, besides a very expensive two part glue was hot glue in large quantities, but you have to use it almost hot enough to melt the plastic. I will try the shoe glue, this is a great tip as I have started messing around with cheap pvc inflatables.
I write dates on everything I open and this tube was originally opened February of 2013 and is still good. A lot of products are silicone based and harden within weeks. I do love hot glue but it seams to peel off unlike this stuff. It's a great addition to the arsenal.
