Man dude! For feedback, all I can say is that this was literally the best walkthrough video I have ever used. This video is a few years old but I have to thank you man. I was getting to my wits end with this Dell G7 laptop. I tried ThrottleStop settings from other RU-vid videos and had no success, yours is the only one that has truly cooled the CPU down for me on a consistent basis (and the fans don't run 90% of the time now!). Thanks again!

Thank you! I followed this step by step on my MSI GF65-9SD and it worked. I achieved a temp of 61c under the Heavyload stress test. Now, I'm tinkering with the settings to find the sweet spot of power and coolness. In FIVR I've increased the number of GhZ allocated to the cores from 34 to 37. In TPL I've changed Turbo boost long power max to 33 And the turbo boost short power max to 33 Then the speed shift max to 37. I then ran HeavyLoad again to stress the CPU and the max temperature reached was 77c. Thanks again and awesome, clear video.

Man you are the best! I am currently using an ASUS ROG Strix GL531GV-PB74 and before watching this video CoreTemp was reading at 60°C on idle and 91°C on full load. Once I applied your undervolt settings (at -125.0 mV for CPU Core & Cache) it literally brought it all the way down to 43°C on idle and 55°C on full load. That's nearly a 40°C difference!!! And I haven't noticed any sign of performance drop in any of the games I play either. Liked and subscribed!

@xanth1man
@xanth1man 4 года назад
@@akaddict Just one question though, generally when you increase the undervolt, is it necessary to make any additional changes to TPL values or are those at their most optimal values as shown in the video? I managed to trim off another 5°C by undervolting down to 130.9 mV on idle so far.
@akaddict
@akaddict 4 года назад
Nope, the only time you would change the settings in the other menu would be if you changed the core clock speed higher from 3.4 Ghz, then you would go to the other menu and set the max accordingly to what you've set it in the previous menu. I got mine to 145 mv with it being stable, everybodies chip is different so you have to play around with it to find the sweet spot for yours. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask! Cheers!
@akaddict
@akaddict 4 года назад
Also if you want more performance since your max temp is low I would set the turbo max and short to 30-32. Whichever value you pick set it the same. Eg 30 30 or 32 32.

Thanks for your video. I have an HP Specter x360 15-T, with an i7 9750H and I used your settings as a baseline for more customization based on my specific laptop. My goal with my settings was keeping my AVERAGE temps around 80C during stress testing and gaming. I'm using Throttlestop 9.0, Windows 10 v2004, and HP Spectre Bios F.22 - all 3 of which support the latest Windows 2004 build as of June 2020. I used HeavyLoad to test the Intel CPU and the Intel GPU simultaneously. I used Cinebench to test the Intel CPU and the GTX 1650MaxQ GPU simultaneously. I used Throttlestop's TS Bench to test for stability errors when adjusting the offset voltages and I used Throttlestop's "Limits" to watch for Thermal and Power throttling alerts during all the tests. These are my personal HP Spectre settings for the i7 9750H CPU: 1. Turbo Ratio Limits: 1Core and 2Core both set to 36. And 3Core,4Core,5Core,6Core are all set to 32. Why? Because if your CPU is only running 2 cores, it won't overheat at 3.6GHz. I could probably bump it all the way up to 4.0GHz for just 2 cores, but then errors may occur with the voltage being offset so much. Setting the rest to 3.2GHz allows more performance without heating up before your fans can kick in to prevent throttling. 2. CPU Voltage: Offset CPU Core to -130.9mV and Offset CPU Cache to -130.9mV. Using TSBench 64M, 256M and 1024M tests, these were the lowest stable voltages I could run at without triggering any errors using both 12 core tests and 1 core tests. 3. TPL: Turbo Boost Long Power Max and Short Power Max are both checked and set to 45 (45 watts), with the Clamp only checked for the Long Max. The turbo time limit is irrelevant when they are both set to 45. Also - Intel rates the 9750H at 45W. Going below 45W is a waste of your CPU and you'll be Power-Throttling more than you would Thermal Throttling. I ran Cinebench, which stresses both the 9750H AND the GeForce 1650MaxQ at the same time in my laptop, and the Power Wattage during the test averaged 42W and never triggered a PL Limit alert for more then a millisecond during the whole test (briefly hit 47W when I opened a web browser in the middle of the test, triggering a yellow PL2 limit, but never stayed red and never throttled the CPU freq). The good news is that the temps stayed in the 80s and never caused a thermal throttle. 4. The Speed Shift limit I left at default 1 Min and 45 Max in the Miscellaneous section. Speed Shift-EPP in the main TS window was set to 0 for Max performance. I figure I'll just let my Windows/HP default power profile settings control if I run it on battery. When plugged in, I want max performance. Obviously. 5. My laptop idles at around 35C as I type this with nothing else happening. 6. My Default Windows Power mode when plugged in is "Best Performance" and my HP Control Center's Thermal Profile is set for "Performance" as well. 7. Also - my GTX 1650MaxQ GPU never went above 82C during the Cinebench test. I didn't alter any settings on that, but it's important to note that you should use a simultaneous test like Cinebench to stress BOTH the CPU and GPU at the same time, so you are taking into consideration ambient temps from the GPU possibly increasing your CPU temps second-hand. Especially if you have a laptop that shares a heatsink between the CPU and GPU. Just stress testing the CPU itself won't give you the whole picture on your temps. You might have cooler CPU temps tweaking things, but once you play a game or do video editing, you might wind up with higher temps than you even saw during your tests. The key for me was to allow the temps to activate the fans BEFORE any thermal throttling threshold was hit (PROCHOT 97C). The HP Spectre is unique (and annoying) in that the fans tend to stay on low until you hit the high 80s with temps, where they then kick on full speed suddenly. I've seen my temps hit 90/91C for a couple seconds and then the fans knock them down 10 to 15 degrees in 3 seconds. At that point, the fans keep the system cool while the stress tests continue and temps stay in the low to mid 80s until the test ends. This is satisfactory as a typical game won't run 100% of all 12 of my cores for 5 straight minutes like a stress test would. Playing Destiny 2 and World of Warcraft at 1080p I kept my temps AVERAGE around 80C. It DOES hit 90 for a couple seconds here and there, but it's very brief and the fans knock that Temp right back down. People get caught up too much looking at the MAX/PEAK temp, when that temp might only be reached for a millisecond and then drop down again. So long as you are not running at 90C+ for more than a minute at a time, you're not damaging your computer or laptop. Hell, Intel has 100C as the max SAFE operating temp for their CPUs. Brief spikes to 90+ when booting up your computer or a game is normal. It's the AVERAGE temps you want to watch. People that have bigger laptops with better cooling and fans might even get cooler temps with these settings. But this is what I use for my HP Spectre. Good luck peeps!

Only advice is a brief explanation of what some of these steps causes after its enable/disable (you did leave some explanation out) out of curiosity and also to ease any concerns from the viewer that intends to apply some of these changes. Still a 10/10 rating for a first video.

Hi ! Thank you so much ! I went from 95c to 65c with the heavy load app and from 100c to 80c max ingame i'm using an asus rog strix scar iii rtx 2060 I7-9750h i applied -40 mv but the real difference is made by other settings not the voltage. However i've noticed something weird, the clock speed never goes below 3,4 ghz (and game bar tells me that i'm at 2.59) and it gives a weird sound to my laptop. Amazing video. I was already familiar with undervolting using throttlestop, but never tinkered around with the turbo limits. Using the numbers in the description I had temps hovering between 61-70. The processor was running at 2.5ghz. I also had TDP throttling (not temps, but voltage). I have an i7 9750h, which can turbo up to 4ghz. So I started playing with the turbo limits to try to achieve the highest clock speeds possible while staying below 85°C. I left all cores at 36 in FIVR menu, and also 36 in miscellaneous TPL menu. Then, Long and Short turbo boost both at 50. Undervolted both cache and cpu by -135.7mV. I left it stress testing in AIDA64 and Prime95 small FFTs, both for an hour each. I managed to get up to 3.5GHz, no thermal throttling and stable, under 85ºC. Throttlestop noticed me there was TDP Throttling but very on and off: like it was at the max point but never quite staying TDP throttled for more than a second. So I guess that for gaming purposes this is fine. It's a Dell G3 3590 that also has a 1660 Ti Max-Q (such a good card, it never goes above 68ºC and gives me awesome fps in 1080p). I'm very happy with the results. Thank you!

ThrottleStop saves and reads all settings to the ThrottleStop.INI config file. If you are having problems, exit ThrottleStop, delete that file and then restart ThrottleStop so it can create a new config file. Also, in the FIVR window, select the OK - Save voltages immediately option. This is a safety feature but if you leave it at the default setting, OK - Do not save voltages, your voltages will not be saved.

So I would like to know please what settings do you recommend to maximize the performance of the CPU and not exceed 75-80 ° C? Thank you so much.

Turbo boost short and long under the TCL tab to around 30 or 32. Which ever you pick, set the same number to each. If you want you can change the CPU to maybe around 3.6ghz, make sure to set all the cores the same in the FIVR tab, then head to the TPL tab to the right of FIVR, and go under miscellaneous and set the max to 36. Report back with your results and thank you for the feedback! 🙏

Honestly you will just have to play with those settings to get your desired results, majority of heat loss is from the long and short boost settings so try tinkering with those more.

Hey! Im using Lenovo Legion Y540, 1660ti and Intel i9750H, and I have successfully undervolted my cpu, ran a extensive 10hr stress test, using Prime95(blend mode), and my temperatures never crossed 65, I've also stress tested using Heavy load, same results! 65 was literally the highest temperature I have ever seen during these stress tests! Zero throttles! (I used the ideal safe spot of -0.125mV offset) Before then I had around 83-95 C! However I haven't had throttles at my initial stress tests using Intel XTU, with voltages set to defaults, and my temperatures were around 85 max, 75 avg before starting to undervolt, yet I did wanna undervolt for better performance, better battery and extended CPU's/ laptop's life. Now I can confidently say this tutorial should work on any other laptop with Intel i9750H! Thanks a ton man, I have seen tons of tutorials on undervolting, and this is legit best! You're such a genius, and your tutorial was clean and clear as crystal, I don't know how to thank you, I was pretty scared to tweak those settings in the beginning, but your undervolt guide helped me a lot man, as mentioned earlier I've also tried INTEL XTU to undervolt in the beginning, but throttle stop was way better. And the most important thing to note was, reverting back changes we made using Intel XTU(if we tried and tweaked any settings using Intel XTU to undervolt) and uninstalling it before using ThrottleStop!

Thankyou so much for the fix , I had seen a ton of videos none helped. Glad I came across this. Great one for a first video, Im running a i7 9750h with rtx2060 cpu temps used to hit 100 all the time , now max is 82 . Will now try to increase the clk a little bit with expense of few degrees as you said in the description. Thanks man.

Thank you bro! Went from +90 to 60-65 with -125. Mine is predator helios 300 i7 and rtx 2060. It worked just fine. I'm wondering if throttlestop can work with factory undervolt in my laptop for long term. What's your opinion ?

As long as your not getting any stability issues you are golden. This should extend the life of your components. Thanks for the feedback! 👍😃

So I did this too. I don't game on my laptop by the way. So will i feel the performance loss for normal tasks? Temps are good now!
@akaddict
@akaddict 4 года назад
If you just want lower temps without loss of performance, I would just do the undervolt (core and cache) if you aren't going to be playing games.
@sergcamtv
@sergcamtv 4 года назад
@@akaddict What about if playing games? I won't mind a bit of performance decrease as currently it runs around 90 degrees!!! Any advice welcomed, thank you!

Yes then in that case I would follow the steps.
@touayg1106
@touayg1106 4 года назад
@@sergcamtv if you dont mind performance decrease then you can disable turbo boost. That significantly decreased the temps for me but it also decreased the fps.

Hi, I have an Acer Predator Helios 300 and before I've seen this video, the temperatures of my laptop reached even 96° C, lowering the fps, but after following your steps I got a maximum temperature of 77° C and sometimes the FPS got over 100 (in GTA V). If you have any more suggestions please tell me!😀 PS. Sorry for bad english!!

Nothing worked till now. This works great. I will share it suggest it to everyone. no matter the setting are. It also works on i7-7700. Thank you man. Really
