@tacticalcenter8658

@@herstal54s yea I can agree with that. These vendors dont even inspect the knives before shipping them, yet they keep asking for map pricing increases for profits. It's insane. I want a way to buy from the manufacturer without map markup, or as small a markup as possible. But yea at least spyderco build knives with better heat treatments and a few of the models use water cooled sharpening. Not to mention most of them are designed for users vs gimmicks like a fair amount of Benchmades.

I’ve used the glass breaker on the back of my 917 many time for extrication. Yes I do have many other tools at my disposal. Very true, and I’ve always thought it to be beneficial when a tool has multi purposes. One tool that does more than one assignment, means having to bring a lot less tools and wasting time at the truck grabbing appliances. A lot of people that don’t want the glass breaker have never used it for actual real world application i.e a vehicle extrication or child/animal suffering a heat related emergency in a closed car.

If you feel you need a glass breaker I don't mind there being some knives out there with them, just not models that don't offer a non-breaker version. The bailout is ment to be a bugout for first responders and military who use glass breakers semi frequently. I think it works as a good full sized back up knife for first responders/Military because of its light weight and thin profile. If you hate the glass breaker on the bailout, I suggest getting a bugout. The glass breaker is a great tool to have on your knife as a back up for your dedicated tools. I love my bailout for that reason, it’s a good back up to my Letherman raptor.

This was very refreshing (the glass-breaker rant). And the video brought back two memories. One, setting up the 10mm poly for my garden in Rockhampton. And Two, I used to buy those purpose-made glass-breaker/seatbelt cutter tools that mounted on a door pillar or wherever you reckon is a good spot. The moulded clamp held the tool really well and the glass hammer and the belt cutter were tools that really worked, because they weren't half-size add-ons to another tool.
@DelYourself
@DelYourself Год назад
I disagree. First of all, the glass breaker does not bother me; it doesn't get in the way, probably because the handle is pretty long (I have L/XL hands). 2nd: your theory about specialized people having specialized tool is correct, however everyone might end up in a situation where breaking glass is a must. A communication accidents or trapped animals in vehicles happen and car windows are rather tough to break without a tool. There are plenty of videos showing how easy it is to brake glass with a dedicated glass breakers - including the ones on knives. I wouldn't even call it `tactical` - if I witness a car accident while I'm out for groceries it means I'm `tactical`? On the other hand - do I want to carry a dedicated glass breaker as an everyday carry? M4 Bailout is a great edc knife that carries light and slim, and it has a bonus glass breaker that doesn't interfere with my comfort of making a sandwich. And for that I really like it as a whole.

Now Pete, I know it'll be hard to take me serious with my profile pic, HOWEVER, as a fulltime paramedic for the last 7 years I've used the Benchmade 915 triage as my edc blade. The 915 triage has a glass breaker on it and It does its job quite well, if I'm going to shit on something its all those stupid fucking "ReScUe HoOkS" those things are fucking useless, they dont hold an edge and are a pain to sharpen, it's easier just to sharpen the main blade and use it for things like airbags and seatbelts, pending my mood determines if I use my knife or my trauma shears [yes I have a pair of leatherman raptors and that's a whole different ass story in its self]. I'll say in a knife designed with frequent use of the breaker in mind, its not a horrible addition, but for generic knives to just have it on them to be a selling point of sorts is stupid.

Terrible video. Nothing worse than a reviewer reviewing a product that didn’t fit his needs in the first place. It called a Bailout for a reason. If you didn’t want the features of a Bailout then why buy it in the first place. Never noticed a hotspot on the knife unless you are using it to punch holes in paint cans or something. This ain’t my first rodeo with knives with glass breakers. I extracted a guy out of a burning car 25 miles out of Houston with a Benchmade Triage. I bet the guy was happy that I had it and that it had a glass breaker.

The bailout I don't trust because of benchmade lame heat treatment then the Chris Reeves excuse we left it soft so it is easier to sharpen. Man what a con. I don't agree that having a glass breaker on knives is stupid. I think it is nice that some knives have one and thus allow you the option. That being said, the "glass breaker" on that knife doesn't look like a very good one. It looks more like a bottle opener. A good glass breaker is just a small and somewhat sharp nub that protrudes from the end of the handle and stays out of the way.

I feel violated by the choice of music. But since it’s your video, I apparently enjoyed the experience. Keep up the great work bud

I had an omega spring fail in my bugout, and I dont know how it happened, it just felt extra weak when I pulled it out after carrying it all day, then my knife was shutting weird and somehow the blade cut through the spring... I replaced the springs with a little thicker guage after market omegas and have had no problem since then. The axis lock is so much fun.

I very much doubt the omega spring was in such a position that the blade could have cut through unless already broken. There just isn't enough room for the the spring to move into that position. I had an omega spring in my right side just snap in half from fatigue and no matter how much I used the knife both pieces stayed in place because they just had no where to go in between the frame and the scale. BM just uses terrible springs for the axis lock. I ended up getting aftermarket springs like you did but I had to bend them since they were too strong to replicate the feel of the old ones.
