Shawn, you are a golf game savior my friend. Every time I start to get off track with my swing and on the verge of giving up the game altogether, I come back to your videos. It’s amazing how simple tweaks, such as; strengthening the grip, cutting grass, and throwing the club…fixes my rhythm and tempo, ball contact, release, etc. It feels effortless again. Thank you!!! 💯

Trying so hard for over a year now with my coach to get my hips working as I was a real armsy swinger for years. No concept or idea could make me grasp how the body should be working. Everything felt so mechanical and robotic. Your "rock-skip" and "sword-slash" finally made something click. I've hit some of the best shots of my life and they just felt so..effortless. Can't thank you enough! Thank you!
Welcome home! This is where you realize that your amazing machine is made and wired for inevitable evolutionary success! Wow… blown away by how helpful this video is. I don’t comment very often but I had to show appreciation for this 👏🏻👏🏻. Not sure why I always instinctively threw the clubface and not the sole of the club. It’s caused poor golf shots my whole life. I’ve not heard anyone else explain this. Doing this turned my golf swing more organic and athletic. Thank you for your time and for such great content. You guys make a great team btw.
Great video and instructions as always Shawn love how you Sav and Moo work so well with each other and how you cover the left handed golfer as well as the right handed
Thanks for the tip. As someone who videos my swing from time to time as I'm hitting in the shed over the winter, this 5' tall guy with collapsible arms needs to find some width and hopefully gain some clubhead speed at the same time.
As a kid with no lessons, golf came pretty easy for me. When I was 16 I had a 3 handicap at my local course. I continued regular play into my late 20s, however life eventually got in the way. I was away from regular play until just recently in my early 50s. I am struggling with feel. Nothing feels right! While I'm still in the low to mid eighties, I'm constantly scrambling for pars or bogeys. This has taken the fun out of golf and I'm looking for excuses to not play. Your videos have brought me closer to the way I taught myself to hit the ball. Strong grip stacked a little on my left side and add some tilt. I'm still struggling and my scores are not improving yet but the feeling is coming back and my confidence is improving. Now if I can keep my right shoulder healthy I'm lookin forward to a couple of round a week this year.
Hey Sound Man! The discomfort comes from the set up not quite matching up with the shots and we need to clean this up! please get with my premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com (just $9.95 per month) and see these titles: -The Goldie Locks series (this deals with our awesome abilities to predict) -the throwing series -target confirmation series -all “release” videos -arc blur unstoppable momentum series see you in there!
I can totally relate to your comment… for a second, I thought… did I write this in my sleep. I’ve been watching and studying Shawn for about a year now. I’ve had some remarkable gains, but it hasn’t always been easy, the subconscious and old habits can be hard to break in competition. Stick with it my man, this Shawn’s methods really work.
Ok, Shawn, you gave me the best gave of golf in my life, so Thank-you. After playing golf for 25 years, dozens of lessons, online courses I was still at an 15 handicap with the best game being 13 over. I tried one move last Saturday, bend the right knee to start the downswing, not a single other swing thought. So after 12 holes, 2 over par - ended the day 9 over because duffed a few chips trying to protect my score. Won the days comp, and struck the ball better than I have in years. So thanks.
Hey Phil! Glad this worked for you so far; but body part thinking will catch up to you and you will want to replace this with a specific task. We are Pinocchio without the strings and are awesome at simple tasks like “throwing clubs” and “cutting grass with a grass whip” or “cutting down trees with axes” that recruit all the proper body parts in the proper sequence without thinking. I strongly recommend you get on our premium channel (just $9.95 per month for my life’s work) at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and check out all the “task” videos by searching the word “task” in the search box of the website. I am in there several times a day answering questions and keeping tabs on everyone and will help you stay on track! Shawn
Love your videos simple drills body friendly. I’m 56 years old and was swinging my 7 iron 78-80 miles an hour with maximum effort and minimum output. Went for a club fitting at TXG and just using the concepts of the intermediate target and focusing on the target throwing the club and a stronger grip I was swinging 85-87 mph. This was the first time hitting balls using your methods and the fitter was impressed by how frequently I was hitting the sweet spot. The only times I missed the center of the club face was when I made my target the ball ( breaking old habits takes a little work) . Thanks can’t wait to see if I can make this transition to driver. Gonna get my wife get me your premium course for my birthday. Seeing Sav swing so freely with speed in her small frame convinced me that regaining some speed is not unattainable. Thanks Shawn
Just an FYI, the premium channel will definitely help, not only with the driver but with everything else, and you'll definitely get more speed. I'm 50, and with the help of the Swing Caddy, regular or pro, you can get your swig speed even faster, I'm back to a constant 110mph with little effort with my 5-iron. Continue following Shawn's instructions here and on the premium channel and the results will show in your game. Good luck.
You bet Frank! When you get in here on premium, see the following videos: -the senior series for the base -all the release videos -the Throwing series -the goldie locks series” -the target confirmation series this will be a great start!
another great video and you really help as i went and played yesterday and had 2 birdies i just need to stop messing up a few holes as i shot 26 for 6 holes and a bad 25 for 3 holes I get to excited i think and mess up but my drives are getting longer and my over all play is getting better thanks from a 59 year old first year player the 2 birdies where a 139 par 3 and the other was 258 yard par 4 and on both holes i was on the green in 1 the par 4 i almost over drove the green even though i backed off on the swing .
Hi! This is the PERFECT video for me! I'm a right arm dominant that plays lefty, and this video nails it for me! Would you suggest a stronger grip? I've been the elbow tucked player for a while. Also, is this the same for the driver?
Hey Matthew! You bet! Please see “most important video on grip ever shawn clement” and “driver speed and smash shawn clement” and “most overlooked detail on driver shawn clement”
Thanks for the video and I love the way you teach golf. Some of the lessons really helped me a lot. I am a little lost with this lesson, is the core idea of this lesson to say it is ok for the trail elbow to leave the body? I recently learnt tuck my right elbow in and it has worked well for me, hitting very straight balls. I did felt though it restricted my backswing and I had to add more body turn, but it did gave me a very stable hitting plane. I am practice having the trail elbow leave the body during backswing and have it tuck back to body as soon as the downswing happens, am I on the right track? Also can you do a lesson on how to keep the trail elbow before trail hand in downswing like Ben Hogan? I am struggling with that part too. Thanks!
Hi Steven; you need to understand that when you throw the club in the direction of the target, the elbow naturally comes back to the body in the downswing as this is the NATURAL KINETIC CHAIN OF ALL DISCIPLINES!!! see all the “throwing the club shawn clement” videos and see “connection shawn clement” and “football drill shawn clement”
The skipping a stone task is the most relatable to me (more so than cutting the grass or dandelion). Had some success with it in practice and on the course, but not thru the bag - mostly on shorter clubs. Seems like longer irons, hybrids and driver get too far away when I widen my swing. Any recommendations for stone skipping task with longer club would be appropriated.
Funny, it’s on those that I use the skip the most because of the width of the club head and the gorgeous rounded sole of the fairway woods lends to that! We have a great series on our premium channel called “the throwing series” where I show you how to throw different lengths of clubs from a short stop throw wedge to a hammer throw driver. It really helps you understand how to set up for the different lengths of clubs which is probably what you are struggling with. Https://www.wisdomingolfpremium.com
Thank you folks, you always explain your lesson's so detailed. My question is when I make my back swing to the point to where I put my back to the target I lose sight of the ball. Is this odd ? Is my flexibility hindering my full swing or is this normal for many golfers. Please explain what is best way to approach my issue.
you definitely don’t want to do that as you will inevitably default to the ball when it reappears in your sight in the downswing. See our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and see “senior series”, “purpose of the backswing”, “blur of club” and “arc blur unstoppable momentum series” as a start.
Hi Shawn. Thanks for your lessons. For months I have been following your drills and advices, and sometime result is impressive (not as Mu but not so bad for a 60..😁) but very very often my shot is either toped or "gratté" (in French). I feel like staying with my task of throwing but result is very poor... very frustrating. What should I focus on ?
Shawn, Have a ?. When I practice with my grass cutter my task is to cut the grass. When i set up to ball should my task be the same, cut grass towards target which would seem like i would be ball bound, Or should I focus on target and throw club to target and predict that the club will cut the grass. I confused because I can't think of two things at once. Ha. Thanks. Jay
hi Joseph! it is one or the other; use the one that allows you to deliver deep through the ball and out into the direction you want to start the ball. THE BALL CANNOT STOP YOU FROM PERFORMING EITHER ONE PHYSICALLY!
I notice you always lift then slam your trail foot heel before swinging back. I had started to do the same and really syncs my backswing. Was wondering if you have a video on this and why it helps? Thanks in advance.
in our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com you will find several series that will help you engage your swing’s kinetic chains. “kinetic chain facilitation series”, “arc blur unstoppable momentum series”, “perpetual motion series” and “momentum already there before you start the swing series”
Great concept, accept that when I swing right hand dominant....I am pushing my swing....our right handed swing motion is more equivalent to a left handed backhand in tennis. When I pull the club with my left arm....I get way more power or whip with my left arm power vs right!? Am I wrong in this thinking? Or am I just confused?
You will go back and forth with this as long as you stay with body part thinking; much better to get with a simple task such as “throwing the club” in which you should check out all our “throwing the club shawn clement” videos and then see “how to put the ball in the way of your swing shawn clement” When you see your swing on video when throwing the club to a specific target, you will flip out at how amazing it looks! Be safe though, use steel shafted older clubs and make sure you are in a very open field as it will tend to go left or backwards for the right handed player at first. be specific on target and have an intermediate point and you will be fine.
I've been confused about the forehand vs backhand for my entire golf career. I'm R-hand dominate playing R but generally let my L dominates. I was taught this by my buddies bit I can't hep but believe that it costs me distance and accuracy. How do we decide which way is best. Thanks for another great video.

I am going to try this. My main issue with conceptualizing "throwing" the club toward the target is how high of a trajectory toward the target do I throw the club? Skipping the iron may get me past that
I don’t think you quite understood the video…may I suggest some back up with “grass whip training shawn clement” which is a great extension of this one
What happened to the old clemshaw videos where it was teacher and student. Us. Now we have to listen to how great your shots are, and tell each other how great you are. We know your great. Just get on with the teaching. Tired of hearing wow I crushed that!!! Yes we know.
We have a nice teacher and student series going on right now on the premium channel; where you will find sessions with a dozen different students of all skills; thank you for your feedback; noted!
You bet! What we do is a polished version of that as we evolve forward towards tasks that will place us in the correct positions without thinking about them and forcing ourselves into positions based on a perception of what we think it should look like. On our premium channel, at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com you will want to search all the “task” videos first and see which ones resonate with you and then get really good at one or 2 of them. Then you use the rest of the website to polish shot making and power with videos such as “unstoppable momentum series” and “the throwing series” and the release series”
