Closed cell draught excluder foam with a self-adhesive backing works well. I have a wide strip of the stuff stuck around the bottom of the extractor body.....it forms an air-tight seal and helps stop the strap tearing the bag. I also use an elasiticated luggage strap ( it looks like a giant 8mm diameter rubber band) to hold the bag in place whilst I get the metal band in place.....it saves a lot of aggro!

Both of those are solid ideas. Ive got some of the draught excluding foam in the shop somewhere I think, Ill give that a go and the luggage strap sounds like a great idea. Thank you!

If you get a 1 to 1-1/2 inch wide, 1/4 inch thick foam strips, glue them on your extractor all the way around. Then put your plastic bag over it, and clamp it on. The clamp will "dig in" to the foam. Here in the States, you can get rolls of this foam with self-sticky on the back (they use it for sealing around doors). Otherwise, your method works too. Personally, if I were to use your method, I would clean the surface of dust, apply the bag, and then completely seal it to the extractor before applying the strap.

Correct...Duck Tape has a cloth substrate where Duct Tape is a non gas permiable aluminium foil used on airconditioning systems to make them air proof.
