+This Old Tony just some feedback on the E-stop: you really need a bigger button and it really needs to be in a more accesible place, 'cause an E-stop, you have to be able to WACK the life out of that thing a million times within a fraction of a second. Otherwise: really nice job!

Incredible build. and then its topped of with, "Knew i wanted to make something for my boy..." I'm thinking, a key chain, toy screwdriver with his name on... nope. "MULTI-SHOT LEVER ACTION RUBBER BAND RIFLE" :') this is the best channel on YT, by far.

dear ToT I am watching this series for like forth or fifth time since the time I discovered your channel with video where you made rifle stock... and every time your channel inspires me, especialy when I see the amount of work and detailing you put into your projects... I definitly know that this is one of the nicest and coolest channels. I never knew I was into machining until I discovered you and uncle Bumblefuck and started watching everything from other perspective... other than just lazy consumerism. Things that you make with your hands (and tools) are just amazing and pleasant to eyes... Thank you...

Why quit? I don't think that welding of frame is so complicated. just buy tig welder. I am planning to make similar CNC. Already found fixture table 600x360 mm. I hope this winter will weld frame Screws, nuts, bearings are available for purchase. Some custom mounting details i can order in local plasma cutting shop. (or cut with angle grinder) Also when you will assemble first version of router it will help make parts for itself:)

Your engineering prowess lights the candle of inspiration, sharing shop time with your son and stills of priceless moments is beyond words, and your humor and fun side permeate the "Force"..."bad Robot productions" LOL... My Heartfelt thanks for sharing all this with us! Rubber band guns...oh My! Dad built them with my brother and I then me with my son, then Gpa, me and my son built some Long Tom multishot ones together...now when My Gson is a bit older I am seeing a gattling gun in the future. Yours is exquisite! VFD...Should be fine in your beautifully laid out control box. I had 4 large Baldor's running in a similar layout with a hinged acrylic access. When/if yours croaks, I hear the Hitachi's are pretty good now and not quite as pricey? Most impressive build I've seen in a long time....so much for loss of words, eh? Thanks Tony!! ~PJ

Ok... Everything about this is amazing. I have a few questions though. Your production values are excellent - how did you get those dolley shots of the router at the very beginning? Your camera work is generally excellent - what are you using to shoot this stuff? Your creativity in working with video is unique (I've been in TV professionally for over 20 years). You mix graphics, still and moving video and nifty special effects techniques in a very natural, visceral and often times witty way. Where did the rubber band rifle moving parts graphic come from? Was that from your CAD software? Finally, and the question most everyone wants to know... where do you find the time to do all this? Great stuff. Wow.

Personally, I *LOVE* the fact that you included him in the process of making it. He will now always have an understanding of the time and effort it took to make it and will value it all the more.

Well I have finished my all steel DIY CNC machine based on this "This old Tony" design. I modified the design on the two supporting beams for the Y axis rails, just to have adjustment. So I joined parts by screws instead of welding. I introduced a fine adjustment by means of M6 screws for leveling, and and M8 for strong holding. When machine adjustment, looking for squareness, I do not have adjustment on XZ movement (like your machine) and I only adjust machine table and Y rails (planes XY and YZ) related to XZ plane. I have begun machining aluminum and the whole cutting process looks and sounds very well. Better than thinking I am finishing the job, I am planning now an update for motors and drivers. Thanks you This old Tony one more time for these three videos you gave us.

Lumpy? This Old, Lumpy Tony? That Tony? Nice work Tony. Very nice work. That smile on your boy's face is worth all the work.

+1 for building the heat sink from a block, -1 for using slotted screws to mount the motor drives. Thanks for the video, great entertainment and learning.

What a class act. Your videos are some of the best I’ve seen, and I have near 40 years in the post production/broadcast industry. Thanks for sharing your talents, and for answering questions I have with regard to the “how to” of machining, welding, and wisdom. You’re a good man, Charlie Brown.

The customer's smile said it all. Great memories! I have not made my first CNC yet. My problem has been; how big? How much power? I've probably looked at more than 100 on you-tube. The one you built is more than I would ever need, but, you know, the bigger the better.

Sir, you are a father to be respected. You are a machinist to be admired. You are a teacher to be venerated. I can only remark publicly that you have the best channel on YouYube and a well-deserved following. Privately I can only offer a place to crash when your long suffering wife gets fed up with the stranger in the garage. Your unwavering pursuit of perfection is maxim for us mere mortals to eschew and we salute... This Old Tony.

Tony. I am a huge fan. Not only are you an amazing machinist, a huge influence, but you are one of the best story tellers on RU-vid. Your son is indeed very lucky. As we say in the UK “nice one mate!” Huge respect

What else is there to say that hasn't already been said here? Been watching your videos for what seems like ages now and they never cease to continually amaze. If ever there was a "Golden Tool" award (and I mean that in the best of all considerations) for the best and most versatile use of RU-vid you Tony, would have a mantel full of them. It does my heart wonders to see a man who knows his place with his son from the very beginning. To teach, love, and enjoy what life has to offer for this smidgen of time we get to inhabit it. I hope that, in the eyes of my son, who is now 38, I have come half as close to do doing so for him as I know you will for yours Tony..... can I call you Tony? Cuz I feel like I know you after all these years though I have a hunch that's just your stage name.... your real name is Ray Romano cuz you sound exactly like him. Before my very eyes, and way to fast, I have found myself an old man pushing 60 and wondering where the heck the time went and I NEVER sat around for any of it. Yet, it is plain to see there will not be enough time in the remainder of my years to do all the things I desire to do.... but am sure not gonna let that stop me from trying. I have spent the better part of my adult hood outfitting a 14,000 square foot shop to be a complete prototyping shop. Seems I can never settle on the amount of tools it should have. It is my desire to open the shop up in the spring of 2018 to those who have the inspirations but no resources other than the fruits of their own labor to realize them. Thereafter, it is my desire to establish a vo/tech school (a school after school as it were) for high school Juniors and Seniors and teach them purpose, skills, and responsibility in an era where it is tremendously lacking. As I have been making this push heavily for the last 7 years it seems at times I will never get there.... but I keep pushing. You Tony, continue to provide me the inspiration to do so. Thank you!

Thank you, Tony. Been stuck in a rut not wanting to invest time in Fusion, now that I have Solidworks this video series has inspired me to finish my mill CNC conversion and get down to making chips again with an excellent CAD tool at the front end! All the best!

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with these AWESOME videos. They are a perfect blend of humor, knowledge and skill. It would be great to have a video that talks about your shop in general and some the tools you find to be the most benficial/productive. Thank you from Montana.
