52-18, on an old school coaster brake with front rim brake fitted. She rolls sweatly on the flat, but some inclines get me out of the saddle and hills more than 10% get me off to push! I've been thinking about dropping down the chain ring to 48, but I'm going to stick at it and just see if I can build more power into my short 62 year old legs.
60-65 gi for hills and high cadence ride, light pedal and great acceleration, easy skids too 66-70 for light pedal but not low max speed 71-72 for flat and some light hills 75-80 for really flat of flats land But i don't recommend high gear inches, i prefer spin to win, better for knees too I use 63.4 and 67.2 gi And remember, top speed is not important, average speed is

My first fixed gear I ever got couple weeks back is a 46 16 not sure if thats a good starter but it don't feel hard on my legs still gotta take it for a full on ride then I'll know for sure but yea and the tires are 25mm 700c real thin I'm definitely more of a masher type then a spinner but I can be both just want that perfect median who knows tho I might already have it just gotta give it a ride.
Hey Shredneck, do you know why they don't simply use 12 as the rear cog. This way the front blade would only need to be 30 or so. Which would save a lot of weight on both.
@@unclespliff_productions ah yeah. but the 16 or 17 cog seem te be standard on fixies. I am guessing it has something to do with the number of teeth that grip the chain.
oh ok i been riding 48×17 for a long time. Just wanted to know if upgrading to a 49t would be better but I think I stick with the 48t instead. Thanks for your opinion
good ratio for sure.....any ratio can work depending on what you're looking for. my only suggestion would be to stick with one ratio for a while to really get used to it
