I was given the lowest dose possible of estradiol after fighting the docs for it . Only to gain 10 pound in 80 days and my BP rose ! I went back .. demanded labs to prove this was the problem and asking them to increase my dose and give all separately not mixed. Do we can adjust each hormone individually . I had some creams left over so I used twice the dose and boom ! The weights coming off . I did no changes the valuable was that minimal stupid dose .. I do t care about lab values . I can tell by my symptoms . Thank you Dr Felice .. you are SO much appreciated Btw I’m 67 never been offered hormones . Told to live with it 😡 Ladies .. advocate for yourself .
@@bridgetb9899 You may want to ask your doctor if you can self titrate and report back in between appointments. I have a self dose determination cheat sheet that many good menopause doctors use to help. Let me know if you want this. Send a message to me on social media or zora@hackmyage.com
Wow. I am so happy to hear this. You are amazing on advocating for your self. It is a real pity more doctors are not teaching their patients how to self titrate and report back to them in between appointments. Even a simple quick email would be enough. Personally, i like to look at both symptoms and lab values to make sure that I am in a goldilocks zone that not only makes me feel better but are at sufficient levels to protect my future self (bones, heart, brain, etc.). I loved hearing your story. Thanks for sharing. Keep going strong!
I am also a fan. Have you heard Dr. Felice's roundtable talk with other giants in the menopause space on Karen Martels podcast? All of them sometimes give conflicting information, and here we have them at the same table discussing their points of view. It's brilliant.
I would love to have hear more about the dosing that is used for this approach so that I can take it to my doctor and speak with her about it. Could you do another RU-vid video with how the cycling works in regards to dosing
I really would like to know what is the optimal dosage . A year ago I found a health professional who prescribed me 20mg estradiol bioidentical cream . It is a lot . And I tried it , I felt amazing , as if I was 18 again . I was prescribed also testosterone and all together was too much for me and down the road had some side effects and gave up it all I was afraid of getting cancer due to have fibroids . But I miss it , I know it has to be the right dosage and my body is aching all over and after watching her videos I decided to introduce again estradiol 1mg on my routine . And see from there . Not many doctors are willing to go out of the safety area to prescribe because there is little knowledge and lots of fear . Life without hormones can be very miserable in menopause , body shape changing , all sorts of deterioration . It’s hard to find balance that once was so easy to keep before menopause .
I hear you! This is why I interviewed Dr. Gersh. I would recommend you either book a consult with her or join our Biohacking Menopause Facebook group. Find me and I can help you out a bit. facebook.com/groups/biohackingwomen50
@@hackmyagethanks for replying , I would love to consult with her but I am in the UK . I might purchase her course online and learn the dosages or the cycling Method for menopausal women . I have been running around for answers for a while !!
I’ve read it’s not the dosage but our blood levels. My Dr says our levels should be between 100-125 for optimal protection of different bodily systems.
It differs from person to person. Are you sure it is 20mg and not 2mg? Usual dose would be anything from 1mg to 2mg a day and then you check with a blood test to be anything between 100 and 150 depending on how you feel.
It’s wonderful to feel 35 years old.. Problems is that estradiol comes in a prescription form. I can do the bleeding no pressure. It’s good to clean that lining out monthly..
I started following Dr. Gersh and dhe inspired me to go through a naturopath to get my hormones which I haven't started yet. My family doctor never had the menopause talk 10 years earlier. She needed to consult a gynecologist to get the go ahead for HRT but I don't trust her because I'm her only 60 year old patient for hormone therapy.
I am heading to another thermography scan which caught breast masses, thyroid masses, gingivitis and some other things with out any radiation. One visit.
Absolutely. If your doctor doesn't know what optimal is, contact Dr. Gersh's team or DM me in the Biohacking Menopause Facebook group and I can help you out. facebook.com/groups/biohackingwomen50
Every doctor has a different approach, but I would say take the approach you feel best on. Ask your doctor if you can self titrate with their guidance and try to figure out what you like best
This is highly individual. I believe Dr. Gersh would say yes. But other menopause doctors I have interviewed say that you can be optimal with dosages that don't quite create a period. I would recommend you speak with your doctor, or make an appointment with Dr. Gersh or DM me in the Facebook group Biohacking Menopause: facebook.com/groups/biohackingwomen50
@@mikebiggs1910 It’s not a real period…..doesn’t smell like a period, & the blood is not a lot, maybe spot for 2 days, the blood is a pretty n clean color, it’s no big deal…..in fact Dr.Gersh says we should celebrate cuz we are sloughing off our uterine lining, which means our hormones are working to protect us/our organs.
Had my uterus ablated I'm on the rhythmic protocol that I cannot seem to shed or bleed at the end of the month is this going to be a problem and what are you doing a case like this is this normal or not
@@michellemustari498 hi Michelle, I heard Dr Gersh say that ablation would solve the monthly bleeding since there's no lining to shed and women should be able to request ablation except doctors won't do it although they'll willingly do cosmetic surgery 🙁
That's a very good question. My guess is that Dr. Gersh would like to mimic a natural cycle, but this is something you would have to figure out with your doctor. Some women feel better with cycling their dosages, while other women feel better with static dosing. DM me if you need more help or go to the Biohacking Menopause Facebook page and find me there. facebook.com/groups/biohackingwomen50
I would love to hear more about women who don't absorb hormones adequately. Many women on highest approved doses STILL have very low hormone levels and are not getting the protective benefits. And because their hot flashes are gone or they are sleeping better they doctor tells them they are fine. This is happening to so many women. We need to start talking about MINIMUM blood levels of estradiol and how progesterone.
Every doctor seems to have their method. Some are now talking about blood work not being accurate enough, and we should be looking at the tissues, because that's where the hormones lie..
A doctor probably needs more information than this. I personally believe many women don't need to get to a bleed to both manage our symptoms as well as protect our future selves, but everyone is bioindividual and some may need to. Ask your doctor to run some labs as well as check the progression of any heart disease, bone loss, brain function, vaginal health, breast health and any other concerns. It's not only just about a bleed and our sex hormones. Does that make sense?
Yes that is okay. I live in South Africa and take 1.5mg cream and 100mg Progesterone. I have been doing Progesterone all month, but now going to try 100/200mg Progesterone days 14 - 28. My oestradiol level is test is 190 and doctor happy with that. Progesterone 13 and need to up that a bit. Struggled taking testosterone.
@@doodieevanshenagan3330 I have a clicker and each click is 0.75 and i take 2 clicks a day ie. 1.5mg so you can see your dose is very low. I think you would need to get it up to at least 1mg to feel any benefit. Have a zoom call with one of the doctors who prescribe and get them to prescribe if you cannot get any higher dosage.
@doodieevanshenagan3330 and @PierBuda-bw3gw I am the same and have a 0.75mg dosage in one click of my estradiol. I agree that Doodie's dose may be too low if she isnt feeling any benefits. Great advice to test too and check in with the doctor.
I’m not even cycling and taking 100 mg of progesterone everyday and patch of .025 and bleeding. Been trying for a year ,but my lining keeps thickening and shedding. My Obgyn said I should go off HRT. I’m sad. I have osteoporosis at 53… was hoping this would help. Should I get off?
Why? Is the endometrial lining too thick? Have you discussed increasing the progesterone? Maybe the estrogen is off balance. Also, have you discussed any changes to diet and lifestyle if they're not optimized yet?
My breasts/nipples are so sensitive since I’ve been on Estradiol, progesterone & testosterone…….i saw a Dr on video say that breast sensitivity is due to too much estrogen too fast cuz I’m 73 now & hadnt had hormones much since before menopause at 51. Should I cut patch in half?
Tender breasts/nipples can be a sign of many things, but usually the first thought is estrogen overdose. I would lower your dosage and see how you feel. You generally want to go low and slow to start off with when you havent seen hormones in a long while. Keep in touch with your doctor and see if you can cut the patch in half.
Hi, what dosage of the patch are you on? I'm 73 as well and started on. 05 estradiol about 6 months ago. Sore breasts for about 2 weeks then it went away. Nipples remain somewhat sensitive and stick out under my tee shirt 😂
I'm curious about this, too. I'm also on the 0.1mg E2 with P4 last 2 weeks of my cycle. I tested my E2, because MD didn't see any need to, and I was at 40 both times. I'm 45 y.o.
@@cozinha8945 Technically, if your levels are low and you're still feeling poorly, your doctor should either increase the dosage or try another delivery method (cream, gel, compounded...). Or perhaps try putting the patch on a different side or area of the body. You may also want to ask if you can use the patch more often. There are many ways to skin a cat. We have a private membership group Biohacking Menopause and I can give more guidance there.
Thank you, @hackmyage sounds like I need to find a new provider. My symptoms have improved but there's room for more. He won't increase my dose any higher. I pulled teeth to increase to 0.1 from .075mg. Thanks for your comment!
I thought it was the opposite. When I started my period I would have diarrhea.. I always felt better after my period and then swelled up after ovulation up until my period. Also, when I was pregnant I thought we double our blood volume.
I thought that progesterone caused water retention.. because it helped your uterus to become soft.. so the egg can dig in the lining and start multiplying.. And doesn’t progesterone help your blood to absorb more water for the baby.. or more blood. Anyway, I swelled up before my period and as soon as I wasn’t pregnant, then I would lose all of the excess water through diarrhea and urine..
There is no hard set rule for taking progesterone. You do what you feel works best for you. Some women like the cycling and others like static dosages. Always check in with your doctor, but you need to have the support to have you feeling your best. Keep me posted what works best for you in the end.
What is the optimal dose? I am currently on 0.05mg transdermal estradiol and oral 50mg progesterone and a testosterone cream. Are those optimal or the bare minimum for symptom relief? If we want optimal levels, what levels should we look for in our bloodwork?
Optimal dosages are different for everyone. There is a range. It sounds like you are on the bare minimum dosage. Follow your symptoms and then look at optimal levels for the issues that you are most concerned about. If your doctor doesnt know what this is, then find another. You can read this blog to find a new one. hackmyage.com/find-a-menopause-doctor/
@@hackmyage I feel pretty good, nipples sore cuz I didn’t start off low dose….my dr. put me on 0.1 mg., I understand there’s a lower dose, but my dr probably felt like I’m up in age, 73, so I need to start her on .1 I do shed a little blood for a few days like Dr Gersh explained & that I should celebrate…..so glad she touched on that cuz I got scared thinking I had uterine cancer……so I’m continuing with my 0.1 mg patch so I can get estradiol in my system good so I can catch up to protect my brain, bones etc….
@@wendymccleary1465 I think one can start on day 1 of the month - easier to remember. Dr Felice also thinks the Wiley method dosing is too high (her words rediculous). You just need a physiological dose and she said your estradiol test should be between 100 - 150. I personally think 150 is optimum and one can just do a static oestradiol dose every day of the month and from day 14 - 28 do 200mg Progesterone.
