You could also reduce heat by turning off the display under Camera function 2 in the menu > DISP button > Monitor > then toggle Monitor Off at the bottom

I also use a Go-nine for my A5100; pretty good thing! Just had to wrap some tape around the dummy to make it fit snug.

You could try to add some metal heatsinks behind the display (and leave it open) with some heat conducting tape.

Thanks so much!! I'm using it in Zoom videoconference and I was having problems. I opened the battery door so the heat can scape and the memory card as well. It's working great!!

There should be none. The power is regulated before the dummy, the camera notices no difference.

I have a Sony A7R II and I took have been seeing it die using it as a webcam with ATEM Mini Pro, etc. after about an hour. I saw the menu button and am giving that a shot. I have a USB cable connected to just above where the mini HDMI is to power, or 'charge' the battery, and that does always seem to work. I am not sure if my unit has the battery door flap for the external cable special battery. If this does not work, that may be a direction I try, too, since less stress on a battery also means no heat from it.

Real-time-ish follow up. I set "Auto Pwr OFF Temp" to "High" and the unit still shut off about 1.5 hours into usage. Going to try the AC-PW20 version for the A7RII. Not sure it's going to make a difference but I have to try something!

Joe DeMonia And may i ask how long you have been continuously using the A7iii? I’m planing on making a concert recording using a7r4 with the Sony dummy battery kit NPA-MQZ1K and continuously record for hours. I really hope that it could live up to its claim of recording for 13 hrs nonstop.

My cam link 4k is what gets hot for me like so hot that it ends up skipping a frame every so often. Wish i could fox that.

$2000 for a camera that overheats. Sony for that money you could have designed the camera body with a finned heat sink on the bottom of the camera.

For the dummy battery, what does the cord plug into? Or do you just leave the cord unplugged?

The dummy battery (AC adapter) is meant for replacing your battery so it can run for longer periods of time for streaming or long videos so therefore you would need to plug into either a wall plug or usb depending on which dummy battery you are using, you will need to power the camera in some way.

@Fantana uhm im not too sure but what are you using it for exactly so i can paint a little image in my head on what is happening? becuase its usually acts as a wall plug for cameras to last long sessions in a singular spot like for streaming or making videos where the camera is still, but for mine i dabble with streaming with it so i have it connected to a wall plug then turn it on whenever its needed also i dont have the power from usb setting turned off. Try turning it back on and see what happens. Sorry if i wasn't much help :(
