Just needed a boost of R134A. This was the first time i ever attemped to do a job like this, so i was very cautious, and scared. A great learning experience though. Enjoy!
1996 is the year it was. I dont have it anymore. Pre 1993 the systems were R12, and after 1994 they were R134A. You can buy a conversion kit for the R12 systems
That is really strange because my 1993 dodge Dakota low port is right next to the compressor and the high port is where you pointed to the size of the high side is a different size and will not fit so you can’t fill from the high side. I’m very confused did they change your AC system from the original set up?
@@billiebabson4660 I discovered that my dodge did take the modern R 134a and that this particular year 1993 many switched over at the dealership. I hope this information helps you too.
I used that can before, I will never use it again, You will overfill it with that kit. The "Leak sealer" It has is basically paint stripper inside the AC system. If I ever had to do it if I did not have my AC recovery machine I would probably use any USA 12oz can. Wal-mart and alots of parts stores sells Chinese R-134a Best would be to check the gauges with a manifold gauge set as that gauge is mad inaccurate.
This is the only helpful video I found before I recharge mine. I have a question, how did you know that port you used to recharge the system was the low port and not the high port?
Congrats on fixing your ac. I bought a 2003 Dakota (no ac). Compressor shut down and I think one of the reasons could be low level refrigerant. I’m hesitant to add refrigerant to the system because I figured if it is low, it probably has a leak. However, I have heard a few success stories on charging a system without doing much else. So, did that charge you did leak out?
