Sure, it's still under warranty but I have two hands and some tools so let's see if I can fix the popping sound in this speaker and save mobile service a trip.

You are a legend. I’ve had the car for a year and I’ve taken apart the door panel, tied all loose cables down, and gone to Tesla 3 times. It got progressively worse recently so I did a google search and boom first thing. I IMMEDIATELY was able to make the pop myself. It’s a brand new 23 m3 too so it’s a shame. Thank you thank you thank you!

Dude!!! Thanks so much same thing in a 2023. Was going to have Tesla come out and look at it they set up a mobile appointment at my house then they changed it to a regular service visit where I had to drive an hour and leave my car. This took care of it. Can’t Believe that there are exposed contacts so close to the frame.

Did you need to disconnect the 12v battery?
@joch957
@joch957 Год назад
I did not. I just dropped the speaker enough to slip some duct tape in (doubled it up) to cover the exposed terminals.

Wow thanks for the info! I’ve been searching since last summer on my ‘21 Model 3 trying to figure out why the A-Pillar speakers would pop in hot weather when my car was cooling down 😅 Followed your suggestion to go there and lo and behold the speakers were grounding out… but through the foam in my case! The foam was correctly positioned on my car, but the posts were still grounding out… so a bit of electrical tape and it’s all good! My sanity thanks you 🤣

This has been annoying me for months, took it in to Tesla service and they claimed to fix it, but the issue was still present. 5 minutes after watching this video, it’s fixed. Thanks so much for figuring that out!

Brand new 2023 and same issue. I was able to slightly detach the trim above the door/window frame and shift the foam fully over the speaker contacts. Problem solved. Hoping that the tight fit will prevent the foam from moving. Seems just like a sloppy installation design. If it returns, I'll go the full route as you've demonstrated. Great help ty!

I have a 2022 model 3 performance with the exact same issue. Thank you! I will fix this myself because of your information.

good thing you fixed it yourself. the idiots at Service Center would've marked it as "within spec" & also break something else in the process

Do I need to disconnect the 12v battery. Is there an air bag in that A piller? Thanks

So where do you start? Remove screw for visor, pull down headliner then the pillar part??? Any videos showing that portion of it or am I over thinking it?

I’m here trying to figure it out too

Pull the A pillar trim off, then remove the screws for the sunvisor and if the sunvisor clip has one remove that one too. Then pull the headliner down. Wear gloves to try and not leave fingerprints.

My ‘23 had the issue on the passenger side. Sure enough after finding this video I found that my speaker had no foam. Added some tape and foam and all fixed.

Thank you so much for making this video. My brand new 2022 is missing the foam entirely and crackled like crazy on my first drive home. Tesla never fails to amuse with their poor build quality. I can see how this missed QC, though, since it seems temperature dependent.

well done, you should wear gloves when touching the trim panels, the oils in your skin will leave fingerprints on the panels.
