This is an old, old, video. At the time of the video filming, I was more confident in buying a new board and replacing the old one than I was in finding the issue. I didn't know how to solder tiny fuses on motherboards yet and as such never found out why that old board stopped working, and for those wondering, here's why: Every DS has at least one fuse keeping the power to the system safe, and when one of them blows, the system either fails to turn on, or fails to charge. The one that blew on the motherboard in this video was the F1 fuse, which (you guessed it) prevented it from charging. To fix it, Bridging the fuse is an extremely quick and easy fix, but is not recommended for long term use. Getting proper replacements online and soldering it would be the safer option, but a bit more difficult for beginners.
nice video i have the same ds model same color too part of the hinge is broken but I already have a new 3ds xl and a gameboy advance so I don't need it (also I don't have the charger)
Yeah, from what I've seen the hinges were really prone to cracking on these models. One of the only one's I've seen without the crack is my second original DS, Guess it wasn't used much before I got it.
