The fact that you're changing your policy on not being willing to take on rigs that involve being shipped to you, just so you can help eleviate this increasing issue that no one else is talking about, shows how comendable you are. Not as not just a PC repair person, but an overal human being. People put a lot of money into their builds/pre-builds, and they shouldn't be screwed over, and you're helping fix that. Good for you.

This episode has it all. - Bent CPU - iBuyPower shoddiness - Cute kid - Getting PC to post w/o a cooler - Sponsorship - Trouble fitting RAM due to massive air cooler - AIO gunk that quickly transformed this episode from a computer problem diagnosis to something that vaguely resembles that of a medical drama.

😂 I was thinking exactly the opposite. I don't know if this is trolling or pure ignorance? Greg channel is WAY smaller than Linus Tech Tips. Linus Media Group have like over 100 employees now and over 15 millions of subscribers just on their main channel and they have like 8 different channels or something now. Greg records his videos alone at home. I'm not even sure if he have an actual cameraman on most of his videos now. This is nothing against Greg, I love his videos. Greg's videos are awesome and have great quality content. I really love the Fix & Flop series or the series at Micro Center. It is really nice to see RU-vidr using his money he made from RU-vid to help others for free. Seriously, if LTT was a small channel, how could they manage to make their own screwdrivers on their own online store shipping worldwide? It is not a cheap Chinese screwdrivers with a name on it, it is a custom one, made following their own specs. Just this screwdriver alone took literally years to engineer, looking at many different parts suppliers, control quality, etc.

True I bought a Cyberpower PC from Best Buy and had to exchange it twice cuz the usb ports on the back I/O would fail after a day or two......the third time I exchanged it for an Ibuypower prebuilt, was like 300 bucks more than the cyberpower.....it had good specs at a good price, but in a silly case.....it looked like a vacuum cleaner from the 1960s....but it ran solid for 6-7 years......and Ive heard a lot of bad things about ibuypower, so i guess I got lucky.....in fact Im gonna rebuild it and repurpose it into a dedicated vintage gaming PC

from a consumer standpoint, it sucks that it fails almost like clockwork, but from a sales standpoint, it is good, cuz then they can sell more shit, so i don't think it "a defect", from a sales perspective, now, if they advertise that it wont go bad in say 5 years, MINIMUM, then it is fraud, but if not, well, no legal grounds to stand on sadly

known issue with kaby lake -> rocket lake CPUs. intel made the PCBs thinner to save cost, which made them more likely to bend if inserted incorrectly. some foxconn sockets were also known to cause bending even on correctly installed chips.

For me, this is twice now. The first one was an intel chip [don't remember what one] while mounted and working, the cooler was too tight. After some time, the system wouldn't run. When the chip heated up, it was slowly bending. This caused the chip to completely fail.

Hey Greg, would you ever consider making a video on how to clean and fix these gunk issue on AIOs? Hi Greg, (All the way from Australia) Wanted to thank you for letting me know about the Lian Li Galahad recall on AIO's, my Temps very hitting 90+ intermittently ( early stages minor clog i suspect) on tmy 5900x causing my machine to reboot for a little bit. It caused me to decide to drop the TDP down to 65w & even undervolt just to get by not knowing what had changed (also being not able to replace it financially at the time). Fast forward i sent a quick email to LianLi a week & a half ago, confirmed its within the date range of that potentially faulty units & after a few short emails had my new one on its way (direct from factory) which was very interesting. Just received my new one yesterday the process was so easy! Thanks again will be installing the new one & raising my TDP back up to what it should be!!

Regarding the AIO clogging: I've seen a few videos online of people repairing it by draining the cooler, cleaning the cold plate with alcohol and a toothbrush and then replacing the coolant. Since these coolers are lost causes anyway, it would be interesting to see if this repair can actually work. I suppose that if the pump isn't too damaged, then it should be theoretically possible.

Love the vids and also Be Quiet products. Build my system with utter silence in mind and their fans, power supply, case and cooler all help achieve that. Keep up the good work.

that ouch hurts i always think about that, 99% of youtubers place cpu on the socket too fast, and people that knows nothing dont realize that you must spend the most time there, checking everycorner is in, and fits perfectly before trying to close the hinge

Your help is appreciated. I used AIOs since they first came out. I've always had two questions: Why do the manufacturers use tubes that are opaque? Clear tubs would at least show whether the liquid is or isn't flowing and give you some idea of the temperature of the coolant. Why do these tubes lack a replaceable filter? I would like to add both to my AIO. Do you think I could do this?

Mine had the same problem. I tossed the cooler and put in a Noctua fan..works perfect.

I went from an air cooler to an AIO back to an air cooler. AIOs are neat n all and great if you're doing OC but they're not particularly needed. If you have a case that has a lot of airflow through it then all you need is a nice air cooler. I currently have Fractal Meshify case with a Scythe Fuma cooler and a bunch of Artic Cooling fans.

All these clogged AIO's make me think a good air cooler is a better way to go. Never have to worry about clogged cooler.

Exact same pre build from I buy power. 3 years of use, same issue. I actually got a new rig since. Once I had the new build I took apart that IBuyPower aio & it looked exactly the same. I did however manage to clean out nasty growth/gunk/slime off of the micro fins & refill the loop, Resealed the rubber gasket & hooked it back up. Thing runs at 32 degrees now & charted well above it’s expected performance level. Was going to sell it but I think it might come in hand in the future.

Tip for newbie PC builders: if it doesnt fit, dont force it (for ram check that the alignment cut is aligned correctly with the motherboards DIMM slot)

A good idea would be to have an ssd with windows and test the system (temperatures and stability) to see if the system works 100%. Good video, keep up with the great work!!

There are even enclosures for NVME drives now that use USB3.2, so it would be even easier to plug in.

Good call on the air cooler. After all I have seen with AIOs... I don't want one unless it's the only way to cool the CPU. And even then I would look for other CPU/case options.

If you buy a prebuild its best to buy one with aircooling. An AIO will usualy fail sooner or later. Either they glog like this one or the pump dies. With aircooler you only need to worry about the fan or fans. And those are usualy very easy and cheap to replace.
